This video is the difference between going to a hair care specialist versus a stylist. He is caring for the health of her hair, and the length will follow. Now, stylists just want to achieve a look and make your hair easy. I'll take this type of hair care everytime.

I love yr videos and education and all the laughs in between, loved the tip about the REASON why we should infuse the moisture by styling/setting hair damp to keep the style longer.....i forgot i used to do this🫢 Also can you repeat the mesg of working with the hair and not against it! I like that you gave her options and that you showed her where the problems are on the hair strand. I'm glad she decided to go for the full cut. I would have made that choice and have made that choice in the past knowing my hair would grow back. What appears to be a setback is really a set-up for success going forward, because you're working with a healthy head of hair now. You're very professional and very knowledgeable. Great work.

Thank you. I find that most people are comfortable taking off what needs to go when they have a clear end goal with getting their hair back on track. Clients get mad with stylists when they take that choice away from them and just hack with no conversation or permission.

Best hair consultation I ever saw in two decades! Back in the day the hair dresser would ask questions concerning your hair & your hair maintenance routine. They would examine your hair condition and give yoh options for improving your hair & tell you what products to use to achieve better results. Those type of hairstylist are a dime a dozen today & very rare. Today most of these so called hair stylists are on concerned about making money & don’t care about their clients! Then also don’t have good customer service skills & aren’t professional. Especially in the black community (including cArribean, African hair stylists). Thank goodness for KZbin tutorials with great professionals like you who is honest & has integrity! I really enjoyed getting feedback from this video, very helpful for me & my daughter who wears our hair natural. Thank you sir, many blessings for your talent and gift! God bless. 😊❤️🙏🏾

I'm glad you made this video. It must be really disappointing to go to a hairstylist, follow their recommendations and still have damaged hair. While there are many competent hairstylists, many are not skilled in natural hair care and styling. It's rare to get full service in one salon. All it takes is one mishap or bad styling service to undo years of healthy hair practice.

She also never discussed with me how much was being cut or anything about the split ends till after she was done cutting. @AfrikanHairGod
@AfrikanHairGod 5 ай бұрын
You can cut it that way but it's not as decisive as a cut. That would be considered as more dusting than anythingIt's more haphazardly cutting into flyaways and you could be cutting away more healthy hair than splits. If split ends are prevalent, it's a sign that the hair itself is already compromised with little hope of repair. If it's damaged enough to split that means that the strand has been tearing internally as well

Hey I have a question, I just got a trim recently and the stylist insisted that she needed to flat iron my hair in order for me to get the best trim. Is that true? Or is just blow dried hair able to receive a quality trim. I hadn't got my hair trimmed prior in 6 months and she would like me to come back every three months for a trim. I do not want her to silk press my hair every time and thought a blow and go should work whenever I need a trim. Thank you.
@AfrikanHairGod
@AfrikanHairGod 5 ай бұрын
Maybe she only knows how to see the damage on flat ironed hair. As you can see, I never need to silk press to see damage or get an accurate cut. A blowout would be sufficient but everyone has their way of going about doing hair.

Hey, I have a questions that’s so mind boggling to me. I don’t know where to find answers yet. The longer my hairs grows the thinner the ends get. So I’ll keep cutting it until it’s “thick again” and then it’ll grow out long again yet the ends will get thin again. So, I realized I’m going into a cycle. I don’t know what’s causing it. I have a hair routine that keeps my hair growing fast, but if I would go to a hair stylist they’ll probably just cut it. It don’t seem like split ends. Any thoughts without seeing what it looks like? 😮‍💨

I got into a cycle of growing, cutting, growing, cutting constantly until I realized this is just how my hair grows. What I will say is sealing my ends every night with Jamaican black castor oil and avoiding wearing my hair down when I’m wearing certain fabrics like wool which tugs on the ends, has helped a BIT, but I just have what they call fairytale ends. 😅

@@AfrikanHairGod Thank you for your reply. Since it’s been since a child I wondered could it be the way my hair grows.

Stylist are NEVER this patient with educating a client about hair damage, but I guess for content.....🤷🏾

You are definitely new here I see... You should check out the channel and our salon reviews before you make such ignorant generalizations. Sorry your experience with stylists have been so fucked up but don't project that on our business 🤷🏾 The whole point of me creating content like this is to give proper expectations for consumers like you and to teach other stylists on how to conduct a proper consultation. Some people just like complaining about poor experiences in salons, but I choose to be proactive in elevating our industry for the better. It would be great if you could be supportive in that, if not, I thank you for watching and ask you to move aside and make room for someone else that's able to appreciate the time, work, and effort I pour into my clients and what I do.

Now bjbrown.....you can learn from this video. If he's doing it for content, that's his business. But be honest with yourself and admit that he's asking the right questions, giving great advice and you're obviously paying attention.

Her twist 🪢 came out so nice and healthy looking. She still has a decent amount of length on her head after the cut.
