Bakugo has a clearly skewed concept of what being a hero is, disregarding the people he's saving, but he's not about the glory either. It's honestly a really interesting concept, since the author could've gone the easy road of making him a pure bully with a one dimensional thirst for victory, yet he can tell good from evil. His problem is that he sees the macro of things, thieves and criminals, yet he misses the civilian aspect of things, being kind to other people and even his classmates, being an outright bully, which when compared to the world of heroes it looks like a really small problem to him, while it is exactly what he is missing. And yeah, Aizawa looks fantastic when well groomed and dressed, but you can still feel his discomfort, yet compromise to take responsibility for his students.

Yeah, that thing with the limiters on a person's strength is authentic. Doctors call it "hysterical strength," and as they said in this episode, it's when we enter into a crisis situation that simply cannot be solved with conventional strength and our minds revert to simple instincts on overdrive; in Deku's case, the desire to protect.

It took me so long to even like Bakugo and even longer to understand him. He's a fan of order. Things need to be fair and make sense and he needs to be, like you said, triumphant as a hero and really any endeavor. There can't be any asterisks or caveats to his win. It needs to be clean and clear that he's the best, while the villains are all about trickery and manipulating public perception with a healthy dose of violence and chaos to be triumphant.

God I love Iida. One of his best moment ever in this episode imo, and it's often underrated. Shout out to Iida's voice actor. Iida is often seen as Mr Rules, but at the end of the day, when there's actual danger, and things are at stake, rules can go to hell in his eyes. Iida saw his brother paralyzed. The perfect hero he idolized was brutally defeated. So he sure as hell knows some students could get brutalized. It'd be great if Deku and the others could save Bakugo, but what if all 4 of them die instead?? That'd truly be a nightmare.

I really like how Uraraka was able to see the situation from Bakugo's point of view. The fight between the two of them in season two increased each of their respect and understanding of each other, and taught each of them valuable lessons for both life and for fighting.

This isn’t the first time you’ve mentioned this, but I’m interested when you say that you have difficulty reasoning through emotion and you get through it by taking action. That’s because it’s basically the exact opposite of how I work. On a foundational level, reasoning comes before action in my mind. When I’m emotionally compromised, I’m not itching to act: I’m wracking my brain for a solution, and it slows down everything I’m doing to a standstill. In order to get out of that, I have to cut myself off from the problem, tell myself that I can’t handle it right now, and maybe even take the rest of the day off if it gets bad enough. That sort of thing has certainly kept me out of a lot of trouble, and it’s forced me to get a lot better at planning ahead and maintaining work-life balance, but as a result you certainly won’t see me getting up to very many adventures like our merry band of heroes in training are getting up to now.

I still don't get why many people thought bakugo would be villain. I remember many manga readers (at that time when chapter came out) and anime reactors saying that he will be one of them, and betray the hero side. Bakugo's admiration of allmight and the goal of winning in the hero position was already stated in S2Ep24, so it's kinda dumb to think he will be the villan just because of Naruto.

Hey random time to ask this but I'm wondering: When/if do you plan on watching the second movie Heroes Rising? I would say my recommendation would be to watch it dead last after finishing Season 5 since it'll make more sense what exactly is going on and why, but you could technically watch it earlier in Season 5 between episodes 12 and 13, I think? Chronologically things start to get really messy in Season 5 so you'll be missing some things that happened pre-movie if you watch it earlier but if you watch it later you'll have seen things that happen after.

It's only a spoiler in retrospect, not when you've no idea what's going to come. People get too hung up on the possibilities of 'spoildersz' in official stuff. Looking at it from the angle of having read the manga beforehand, of course you note it as a spoiler, but to someone coming in fresh and hot on the anime, you figure it's just extra footage and fun, like the fantasy version ending or the various shots of All Might punching random nothing.
