I watched the Korean review on this and it's really nice for the price. The warranty is also something that has to be noted as Kia has an outstanding warranty and for people that get a 48 or 60 month loan the vehicle is covered under warranty the entire time. That's an added value worth about $1500 on this car (2 years and 24k miles longer warranty coverage than other brands).

Oh so excited to see the Kia model finally move to the Elantra (Tucson) platform! I tell yeah, I just happen to (GM dealer sent me to them) get an Elantra and the darn thing drove very well I thought. Nice and big like the Jetta and new Civic - but even then - it was like 20% less expensive and arguable better in some ways (iVT right). The Elantra was taken to market apparently a couple years ahead of plan - but the Tucson platforms was showing itself to be excellent and the previous model (it was a good car really but people did not like the look) was not doing well at all. So my Elantra - the back seat kind of told me - this has been shot to market before they had time to kind of jewelry it up nicely - so just focus on the driver experience. But the K4 - what a delay - but they just show what they were envisioning for the Elantra but just did not have time for the components to gel eh. Love the execution of that two-spoke wheel (not easy).

I just did an under $25K sedan comparison, and think you made a huge mistake by not including the Subaru Legacy. The Honda is a small engine with a turbo, which spells disaster by demanding too much from a small engine. The Corolla was noisy and the performance weak, but great driver visibility. The Mazda-3 with the tradition transmission and large engine had performance, but poor driver visibility and narrow seats. The Subaru Legacy, with AWD, had an excellent interior with performance. It's a toss up between the KIA K4 and Subaru Legacy. Tough choice!

The cost cutting and declining contenting has gotten out of control. A few years ago, only the barest of bare bones trims wouldn’t have a rear center armrest. If you want auto climate control, which several competitors offer standard, you have to step up yet another trim to the EX, which is priced up there with the Honda Civic. Such strange packaging.
