I remember watching an interview of Michael McElhatton(Roose Bolton), in which the interviewer asked (I'm paraphrasing) "Do you get harassed by people on the street because of the character you play?" And McElhatton looked at the interviewer a little oddly and said something along the lines of "What? No... Most people are able to seperate fantasy from reality, I quite like my fans" So I wonder how many of those stories are perpetuated by interviewers, and actors, who just lean into it to keep a lively interview. At most I can imagine someone saying "Omg I hate Roose/Ramsey/Joffery, you are amazing! Can I please get a picture." I wonder how much "real" hate actors gets.

Roose Bolton isn't a hated character like Joffrey, Cersei or even Sansa, people are mostly meh about him, I doubt most even recognize the actor on the street.

@@jenniferaguilera2087 Yeah, all he did was plan and revel in the Red Wedding, betraying the Starks and personally stabbing Robb Stark - saying "The Lannisters send their regards" as he did it. Really one of the most forgettable sequences in the series. Truly SANSA is more hated, she was - after-all - poorly written.

I find it kind of disturbing when people barely differentiate between actors and characters. I just seems a brain that's a slave to bias. I just can't fathom that mindset. I don't see characters when I look at actors. Some people might just think it's entertaining to scream at actors in the street, but I still think it's beyond strange.

LF wasn't working with Dontos at this point, he decided to later because he knew the fact Sansa saved Dontos' and now he owes her his life would make him the perfect person to risk his life to save hers. He tells her that when they're in the Fingers in ASOS And Sansa never really trusted LF, she just knew she had no other option. He was the one who took the risk to save her more than once, trusting new people would've been too risky.

Remember, Arya kinda forgave the Hound, because she reflected some people in her list were simply following orders. And killing Trant cold blooded - when she literally spare the Hound - was dumb af and also made Arya more grey and less a morally good character.

I think he was also a stand-in for Raff the Sweetling who gets killed in a similar scene in a WoW preview chapter. Raff was a member of Gregor Clegane's crew and appropriately dumb, cruel and rapy. Because the show had less time to develop every minor character and because they had kinda already killed Raff at the fight at the inn they put some of his traits Meryn Trant to make the scene work.

@@Kriegerdammerung That's not right. You must be thinking of Chiswyck (books) who was a torturer and a raper, or the tickler (show)? Either way, it's not Raff. Raff was the guy who stabbed Lommy and in the show also the guy who stole Needle (allthough, I think that guy never gets a name in the show, but he seems to be the counterpart of book Raff in his dialogue and the way he dies). I think this happened because Chiswyck was written out (too minor), so the tickler got killed in place of Chiswyck, then Raff got killed in place of the tickler and then Meryn Trant got killed in place of Raff.

J.K.Rowling "great at inventing names". Sorry but I disagree. When you have characters like Cho Chang or Viktor Krum which have names for surnames (so it would be like calling an american John Jack) and you see that she comes up with names by associacion (grim old place becames grimmauld place), and you see Kingsley Shacklebolt. Which means that when Rowling thinks of a black guy she thinks of Martin Luther King and shackles.

I get the appeal of it being ASOIAF focused but there’s so many channels out there doing that. There’s his serous work for Shift.
