The poster is wrong, it's not home school it's not getting to socialize, my uncle was home school along with my dad and their other siblings and both my dad and uncle did admit at first they were socially awkward
@tntasdyoumom61629 ай бұрын
That is what you would call a strict homeschooled pattern of what is one reason why the kid is so awkward is cuz the parents are controlling every aspect of their life as the parents said you even comb your 14 year olds hair by that he basically does is and the kids just listen to him without rebelling or saying anything
@jordanmchighlander9365Ай бұрын
Homeschooling story: NTA. I was homeschooled as a kid, had undiagnosed ADHD and ASD, and was under socialized. It freaking sucked. Unless the parents put in a lot of effort to get the kids socialized, they're in for a rough start in life.
@drabdazy38109 ай бұрын
The second story was a perfect opportunity for them to help that boy learn to socialize. It seems he wanted to socialize and get a chance to fit in with the other kids but that was shut down. It isn't the kids's fault that their dad is a weirdo helicopter parent.

@QuickManEXE9 ай бұрын
Story 1: I honestly dont get how people like this rude and judgmental Karen dont get assaulted more often. Not worth the jail time i guess. The OP was 100% in the right to tell off this stupid Karen, and is also right on the fact that him paying with food stamps is absolutely none of her business and she doesnt know his life. Why assume that hes lazy and a leech? Also, since when is a Honda Accord much nicer then a Cadillac? Some people just suck. Story 2: I think both parties are jerks here. The OP's commenting on the fact that the new neighbours kids are homeschooled is rather uncalled for and judgmental. Also, the neighbour father is a big of a jerk for wanting his kds to keep hanging out with the OP's kids when it is obvious that they are uncomfortable around them. I think a lot of things could've been handled way better here, but i think going forward, both parties should either apologize or just avoid each other. Story 3: Okay, if anyone is lazy and a leech, it would be this husband, not the OP from the original story. He is a big jerk here, and how much of it can you blame on him being on certain anti-depressants. If he keeps threatening with divorce, then i would counter it with your own. Story 4: This is either the biggest coincidence in the whole universe, or all of them are hiding affairs and using this excuse as a cop out. If they were that in love with you, then all of a sudden just breaking up out of nowhere, saying that they need to "figure things out"... that is a huge red flag to me, and i know from past experiences, when they use lines like that, someone else is/was involved and they didnt want it to be too obvious. Story 5: OP isnt a jerk here overall, but i do think both of you need to stop with the inappropriate jokes and comments. Its fine to joke and kid around, but it sounds like both of you go overboard with the comments, and he definitely went overboard with the slap. To me, it sounds more like a reflex reaction, rather then hitting you intentionally, but still was not called for in any sense. I think both of them need to lighten up and be a bit more serious. Story 6: OP is not a jerk at all here. I get that other cultures have different customs and expectations and whatnot, but this is literally no one else's business but the OP and her husband. Everyone else can just rack off, especially the MIL here.

Story 1: I don’t judge someone for using EBT and/or food stamps or even SSI or whatever. Life isn’t as easy as some people think that it is. Serves Karen right that her coupon was denied. Story 2: Homeschooling isn’t the problem. Bad parenting is the problem. The kids of that family are stunted and over protected, their parents are freaks. But OP was being a jerk regarding blaming homeschooling for how those the kids act. Story 3: Why did OP marry that manchild? Get a divorce, he is being insufferable. Two years of this abuse from him is too long. Two _months_ of abuse would be too long. Story 4: I think there is more to the story than what is shared. Story 1: I’m a retail manager for a retail drug store chain that accepts EBT, food stamp cards. I understand the people like Karen’s frustration about people being on government assistance. But it’s one thing to feel the frustration, it’s another thing to say it out loud. Especially if you don’t know the whole story. Plus I do know 2 people who legally leech off the government but that’s another story. We don’t know if OP has kids or not. I feel Karen’s frustration. However when kids are involved, that frustration goes out the door. Kids don’t get to decide which family they are born into. They don’t choose whether mom and dad make little or a lot of money. So kids shouldn’t have to suffer for it either.

For story 1: a rude person insulting a unfortunately person is uncall for. Just because a person uses foodstamps, it does not mean they are leeching off the government nor are lazy. However, a actual rich person forgo luxury stuff like the Cadillac and instead choose to drive a regular car like the honda car. For story 2: sounds like the situation sucks there. Sure, home schooled kids may be odd to OP, but that does not give him excuse in not realizing that some people may not have interested in one another weather or not it is weird. You’re right, it isn’t the kid’s fault, it’s the dad’s. Story 2# i think the op is a jerk with how he went about saying his point but i think its a symptom of the issue not the issue itself. Fact of the matter is, the kid is not very socialized with kids his age. And his intelligence is not in question in this case its his social literacy. He simply has been exposed to a bottleneck of views, opinions and thoughts in his household and simply needs more exposure. So if his family can find more people who are willing to be more patience and catch him up to speed he will be fine. And also urge him to be open minded to see how kids his age are not that he needs to abandon his own interests either. But regardless its a learning experience for the world not every one is going to like you so better he gets use to it.
