Well, I am now retired as a helicopter pilot. From what I saw posted and from my perspective, this was an inadvertent flight into IMC, or instrument metrological conditions. It happens. The Kobe Bryant accident comes to mind. As for the helicopter, The Bell 212 is a very good machine, though it has been out of production since 1998. As for maintenance, they had a couple of choices, such as making their own parts. Buy on the black market, there are lots of suspects and counterfeit parts; I know firsthand about that with a Bell 47, and the last option is cannibalizing parts off of other 212 airframes. That is what they are doing. It has been reported that they only had 2 212s in flyable condition. The Shah bought quite a few of them, but it has also been around for 40 years. Not using GPS or the Russian System; it's the same thing, and the boxes that work with both, as far as I know, are stupid. Would it have helped here It is doubtful. I don't know how much stuff was inside, like artificial horizons( attitude indicator), gyro compasses, and turn and bank indicators. Or pilot qualifications like instrument ratings. They should not have been flying in those conditions, that is the bottom line.

A report has come out that the Transponder wasn't switched on for this flight. Not sure if this has any relevance but the conspiracy nuts have jumped all over it. I wondered if they do that as a matter of course because the President is onboard. Actually thinking about it, it was probable INOP!

Flying a helicopter requires a lot of training and I know the US military puts pilots on duty with 200 hours of flight time which I believe is woefully undertrained. We have regular copter accidents here in the US which is inexcusable. Copters have so many moving parts and they rev to incredible RPM's.

It was a detonation because the pictures show that only helicopter's tail remained and the rest was torn aprart which basically means it was an inside remote explosion in the air by one of the escort helicopters so by the lies they tell it's obvious that it had nothing to do with outsiders

Yeah, it's expensive to develop. Just not enough bang for the buck. The list of the Bell 412 (newer version) worldwide is quite extensive. Multiple countries have production licenses and more than 1200 worldwide have been produced.

no-one knows how many f14's are operational. 80 i think were delivered to the shah. when the US F-14's were retired there may have been 30 airworthy in iran but again no-one is sure. Now 10-13 is the numbers bandied about without real proof. If any are airworthy, the airframes are probably so far past their flying hour limits they probably need renamed the F14-A "deathtrap".

According to Denys Davydov it was a Mi-8 helicopter. If so, they should have been able to get parts without too much difficulty. After seeing the density of the fog, I don't think there needs to be any other explanation. There was one rumor that Raisi insisted on flying despite warnings about the weather.

@@ivancho5854 Even if it were an Mil-8 its service ceiling is 4500M thats more than enough to get above the mountains, so why would a pilot fly low in the fog instead of going high first, we wont know will we until they do an investigation but the west really wants to jump out there and make conclusions, if you ask me this makes Peter look like a freaking jack ass, he has NO CLUE if it was an accident at all, no one does.

Go look at the videos of the search and rescue efforts. When you can't see 1 meter in front of you, you shouldn't be flying in a helicopter over mountains. The only one responsible for Raisi's death was whoever pushed the helicopter to make the trip. So, probably Raisi.
