Spartan has almost rolled his eyes from that last lumbar adjustment. Imagine walking through life working for humans while they care for you so much that you end up in a killpen at fourteen. I am so glad, that Spartan is in the right hands now - somtimes even including the most capable of Dr. Doug's.

I am amazed! I grew up without an horses on the farm. I would have loved to have one. I am sitting here imagining my uncle or dad having a chiropractor out to the farm to crack a cow or pig. 14 years old is NOT an old horse!! My girl is 13 and full of life!! I will never understand how people are so content to just drop a perfectly healthy horse off to go to the kill pen.... Beautiful horse!! Man did he soften!!! Love it!!! Did you notice how he warmed up to you at the end, Doc?? He knew exactly you had helped him!! If I recall correctly, I believe the first Trigger was a Standard Bred.. He kinda reminds me of the horse in the picture hanging in your office, Doc!! Man!! I so love horses!! Another great job!! People send off the horses to the killpen because of various reasons, they don't want to feed a horse that can't do the work they expect it to do, whether it's pulling a buggy or horse drawn carriage or working in the field dragging farm implements

Lovely to see how relaxed he became in the end. Would've loved to see him walk again after that, he was a bit short in his steps at the beginning so I felt he was having trouble moving and it should be improving after your adjustments.

Hi Vaga, the temporomandibular joint has connections to three superficial myofascial chains, the hyoid bone has connection to the dorsal muscle chain and ventral muscle chain. When I put my finger in his mouth and exert pressure on the tongue and or palate the horse start to chew, activates his hyoid bone, and release the tension. Horses have very often tension in the jaw that influences both the rest of the body and the mind of the horse. Thanks for your question, it is indeed all fascinating.

I cannot believe someone was sending that beautiful horse to to kill pens it's so bright and vivacious and has so much life I can't believe it. I'm so glad that you rescued him!! It makes me wonder how many other perfectly wonderful horses are sent to the kill pens for no reason at all besides people can't afford them and don't have time or a purpose for them. So very sad... I wish this world was a kinder, less terrifying place❤

No horse should be sent to a kill pen..no matter what they look like..but I agree he is one gorgeous horse

I‘m chiropractor not a vet. I check joints legs and body, muscles, ligaments, deep tissues, skull, jaws, poll and spine.😀…no sheath!

@@AnimalCrackerDrDougWillen okay doctor...I just threw that question out for anyone to check on...owner may have done it already. I hope so....have experience with ignorance regarding the sheath. Horses have died because of it. I know you're a good guy👍😊

I cannot believe he was kill bound! He’s a beautiful perfect horse, what a shame it would be to send him to a slaughterhouse! Thank you for rescuing him! It’s so sad that any horse would end up in a slaughterhouse. Spent their entire lives servicing man kind only for man kind to send him to be tortured, neglected and finally inhumanely killed. I wish I could rescue all the horses, even ones that are already super sick..they could at least be humanely euthanized.

Good age!! You can say a horse is old from 17. horse can live until 36 in a good environment, with good food, social contact and activity. Thanks Crystal!

What does putting your finger in his mouth do?

the temporomandibular joint has connections to three superficial myofascial chains, the hyoid bone has connection to the dorsal muscle chain and ventral muscle chain. When I put my finger in his mouth and exert pressure on the tongue and or palate the horse start to chew, activates his hyoid bone, and release the tension in his jaws and his body. Horses have very often tension in the jaw that influences both the rest of the body and the mind of the horse. Thanks for your interest Jen.
