9:00 Anna miscalculated completely 😅 The easiest solution was taking with the bishop and after Rd2 the obvious and only winning move Qxb2 and everything is safe. 17. Qxc4 Rd2 18. Nc3 Rd2 works because of 19. Qc5! If Pia takes with the bishop ..Bxe2 the Queen is trapped with 20. Rfb2. She can rescue with Qc2 but than Rxb7 and the checkmate is unstoppable. If Pia takes instead with the rook it's the same motive: ..Rxe2 20. Nxe2 Bxe2 (Qxe2?? 21. Rf2 traps the queen) and after 21. Rb1 she can't defend again the checkmate while saving the queen. For me was 19. Qc5! the only move I didn't spot but without that the whole line with queen takes doesn't work. Taking the pawn was around equal for SF but much easier to play for humans.

Since they didn't make Pia bot Stockfish or Kittens strong they obviously have to make the computer weaker by picking the less stronger moves in some situations. As Anna is quite strong in tactics she will find the mistakes that the less good moves lead to like the hanging piece. After Anna found the tactic it was just a matter of converting the win for Anna. I guess the type of error that you have to find to win depends on the opening chosen My experience against bots is that you have to develop pieces fast but do not attack to fast and wait for the bot to make a blunder.

felt satisfied to spot Nc3-a2 just a little bit before Anna saw it. I decided to take a shot at playing this bot. after losing twice I tried again and played the white side of a Tarrasch defense, had an equal position after 25 moves amazingly (I think I was getting let off easy), *at least, I think it was equal, I didn't check for sure or whatever. I have no idea if I was playing a GM-level bot and they upped the difficulty, because I get crushed by GMs and also by players who are quite a bit below GM, so uhhh... but in the second phase I played like an idiot and lost the ending because I didn't see the threat of a dangerous passed pawn before it happened.

Yeah, I'm 1800 rapid and I drew the Pia bot in my second game against her with the engine saying I played at a 2650 level when in reality Pia just failed to convert a rook endgame up two pawns... I was playing at a 2200 level at best lol, the bot is way underpowered. Pia would convert that endgame 100 times out of 100 against me IRL

The Pia bot is super annoying to play against…I usually get really good positions after about 30 moves or so, but she ALWAYS find a strange continuation that complicates the game, and I end up getting “out-tacticked”. It’s REALLY good practice for what to do against a sharp player though.
