Christofer is so laconic, he cracks me up. I’m curious how you do laundry in your house without huge volumes of water. Also the people in the village, how do their above ground water mains not freeze? Insulated or boxed in and warmed? Curious in general about the water situation. And how does your car not freeze overnight? I’m in upstate NY (USA) in the mountains and I put my car inside the garage in the winter when it dips to like -15 degrees Celsius. I can see living clustered together in townhouses or apartments but your cabin baffles me not because of the cold per se but because of the isolation and lack of piped-in water and I never see any electrical wires leading to your house but maybe I need to look more carefully.

Interesting factoid: I read that the reason people can't be buried there is because of the flu pandemic about a century ago. Several people who died in the flu pandemic are buried there and decades later, the bodies had yet to decompose because the ground is permanently frozen. TPTB were worried that the virus that killed them is merely dormant (not dead) and could potentially be re-released and infect people if the ground was disturbed. However, I also read that your ashes can be buried there with special permission, which now prompts the question... ...is there a crematorium in Longyearbyen? :-)

@@CeciliaBlomdahl Yes! They are really good! I have always had an affinity with Scandinavia and the far north since I was a kid reading Norse mythology. I doubt very much that I will ever get as far north as Svalbard, but it looks so beautiful and the lifestyle so sane! I live in Oxfordshire in the UK, which has its own beauty and is very British, but I do intend to get to Scandinavia again, in particular Norway and Sweden. I look forward to all the coming videos and am presently watching all the others you have posted. Grim is the real star though, of course!! Ha, ha!
