Are Giandel 12v inverters the best? A newbie guide to buying a quality inverter.

I live in New Zealand and took the leap to start building off grid. After A LOT of research I purchased the 12v 600w and 2000w to have power in the shed while I build my 38m2 house. The newer models are unavailable here, I have the older models (so the idle draw is almost non existent) but I can't fault them. They are supplied with cables, reasonably priced, free delivery from Australia, have decent weights and have AU/NZ outlets so I don't need to get adapters. Yes I am a total newbie and it's trial and error with me, I would have liked Victron or Renogy but they're expensive. There is also a lot of red tape here, so I'm only allowed to wire up a 12v system, anything higher requires a sparkie (electrician) and they aren't cheap and charge per km. There are only a few KZbinrs I've subscribed to because I get utterly confused but I understand yours so thanks.

I saw a Genetry inverter in the mix. Have you reviewed it? What are your thoughts?

Genetry is a solid low frequency inverter that can run anything . I have used it for years and NEVER had any problem with it. Bullet proof and completely customizable. But I do have some concerns about the company's long term viability. It is basically one guy and he is completely overwhelmed and at times can be hard to reach. And while It has all of the features that you could possibly want (AC in, generator start, web interface, etc) it is not a hybrid so it doesn't have a solar charge controller. But it is the best LF inverter I have ever used. I just feel the company in general could use some more support and funding going forward.

@ Sadly I have to agree. I dont have one, but Ive watched every video. Those guys have a product un-matched in the market IMO. Just cant quite get off the ground. Everything working against them. Thanks, I just wondered. Sure wish I had one.

Thanks for the unsponsored review.Two things partially makes a good product. IMHO it does what it claims to do and customer service. When I say does what it is supposed to do I mean at the very least works. Bluetti I bought with my own money fails in that respect- decides to work one day, decides it time to take a break so stops working. You call customer service they allegedly “help” trouble shoot and it seems as if their goal is to point the finger at you. Or even better yet they ask you to do some which demonstrates the unit is defective and then they say let’s try something else.

I agree. I judge a company but how the response when something goes wrong. And Giandel is always solid. I lost the remote once and asked if I could buy one. They just sent me a new one. And it was well out of warranty. The company always has impressed me.

I just purchased a 2000 watt Voltworks which is the same company. The idle draw is .6 amps. The fan doesnt run unless you pull more then 1200 watts. I find it excellent so far.

Early on into Solar I purchased 3,000 Watt RENOGY 12 Volt Inverter and a REDODO 2000 Watt 12 Volt Inverter and soon after Stepped Up to 24 Volt Systems and never looked back. The Cabling and Fusing and Demands on a 12 Volt System are Dangerous in a Van Conversion or Motorhome Install

I'm working building 24v myself but man I tell you the pricing and ecosystem of the individual pieces are much worse Barely any reviews on 24 v inverters and their efficiency etc example idle consumption.. native 24v batteries are much more expensive too 12v and 48v has the best options

I see your point. If someone buy this inverter I will make money. But that doesn't change the fact that it is a solid inverter and I wanted people that are looking to buy an inverter that this is a good choice.

Not a fan of giandel only for one reason... The idle consumption draw ans egscate 2500 w inverter sips power .. my system is small so idle draw matters alot to me

I hear you on that. It is not an issue for me since it is only temp power and never on when I don't need it. But you have a good point.

OK, so what you're saying is, you have no specialized technical knowledge about inverters, but you destroyed one by using it wrong and they replaced it for you, but then you destroyed another one by using it wrong, and they didn't replace that one. Are you sure the problem isn't you? Sounds to me like you actually don't know much at all about inVERters, (not "IN"verters). You don't mention any important facts or statistics about inverters, like the differences between high-frequency or low-frequency, and you don't say one word about idle consumption. The Giandel "Gee-an-dell" inverter brand is one of the better budget brands on the market, but it is FAR from being the best 12v inverter you can buy. It's not even in the discussion, unless you're limiting yourself to the cheapest inverters that will work reasonably well. Look at low-frequency inverters from Victron, MagnaSine, SolArk and Sigineer, if you want to have a discussion about truly good inverters.

No, its not the best. It uses high frequency, transformerless inverter tech and no high frequency inverter on the planet rates as being the bestcat anything when it comes to inverters. And thats coming from an inverter repair with over 25 years of experience in the industry.

I considered the review understood as HF. As such, the opinion is valid. It was not billed as a HF/LF discussion. That is a much larger (and expensive) subject.

Low frequency are clearly better that HF. I own many of them. I would not argue that. But I don't understand the obsession with LF. There are a lot of times where LF is just too big and too heavy to be the best choice for a situation. And a good HF one like this one will work well for years.

All inverters are great until they are not . Im a big fan of CNSWIPOWER . Also FCHAO i may give a try. I also own a 3000 watt Reliable Inverter Electric i use almost everyday. I had it for about 3 years with no issues.
