In this video i will search for homeless people on the streets of shanghai china, i want to see it with my own eyes that whatever the western media is telling about china is it true or not.
Homelessness and begging is quite a big problem in USA and many other major countries but in china from last almost five years i never saw any one begging on road,
whatever i am saying in this video is entirely my own analysis and my opinion, one can differ with what i think but we can't deny or hide the fact and truth.

In China, if homeless people are found, the government has the obligation to help them. Homeless people are usually arranged by the civil affairs department to rescue station, and the next step is to be sent back to their hometown. When the homeless arrive in their hometown, the local government will continue to help him (house, food, etc.). Under this system, nobody will sleep on the street. - If a homeless person dies in the street (no matter where his hometown is), government officials in the place where he died will be held accountable. The last time I saw such news was about 30 years ago.

Were did you here that BS. I lived in China for 10 years and they will not even give you health care in a emergency unless you pay first. The government does nothing. Do you know what there SS equivalency is for retirement in China. It's $15 a month. In fact in China if you make more than $300 a year they consider you rich according to the CCP and yet housing is like 3 time more then the USA. Then you put you life long saving on a home and the building never get finished leaving you left to pay off the loan and you with a half built condo. You have no clue what you are talking about. China has all these polocies on paper but in reality all the CCP does is steal money from the people. Meanwhile China uses USA freedom of speech and press against use with propaganda and idiots fall for it. The government does not care for it people and they have no social program there either.

About 10 years ago, you would encounter someone begging you for a dollar or something in the subway or in a restaurant, but now it is very rare to encounter such begging. If your income is low, you still have no problem eating, and you won’t have to beg. Elderly people without relatives can go to nursing homes, and disabled people without relatives can go to welfare institutions, both of which are completely free. In recent years, the overall mentality of society has been changing, and there is no need to beg.

In Melbourne's Chinatown in 2018, I noticed a white homeless man because I rarely see homeless people. Because I was leaving Australia and returning to China, I gave all the food I had not eaten to this homeless man. When this homeless man found out that I was from China, he actually said that I lived in a sinful country. I felt offended. It’s hard for me to imagine a homeless person not criticizing his own government but criticizing a country far away from him.

In the city I lived. Government built shelters of all sorts. It's considered political merits for the mayor which helped him climb the political ladder. I heard some homeless people were sent back to their hometowns. There are not so many homeless people in the streets mostly because basically every man has a house and some field distributed by local government in their hometown. Also, Chinese government doesn't offer so much welfare, so people tend to save and deposit money in banks. They do not lose their apartments just because they are unemployed for one year.

For example, property owners in downtown are not allowed to block their side walk with plants or divider, can’t evict homeless residents, there are city provided toilet (using them or not is at their discretion), weekly hose down the street and trash removal, in cold weather they will be nice people bring them blanket, portable heater and there is free food near by and convent drug dealers. We have nice weather and dry, it’s friendly place for homeless.

China has the system of "protection house". Recently the Shenzhen government announced that they will add 100 000 units of protection house in the city so that every youth can have their own house, which I think for the migrants from other provinces, as 90% of population in Shenzhen come from other provinces and they often have to live in rented shared houses.

More than 20 years ago, you would encounter many homeless people in parks, bridges, and underground sidewalks in Chinese cities. Nowadays, whether in big cities, small cities or rural areas in China, it is indeed difficult to find homeless people and beggars, and you can only encounter them occasionally. No government can hide these homeless people and beggars. Taking drugs is not a crime in China. People who take drugs but do not sell them are often forced into rehab. However, if they sell drugs, they face very severe penalties.

Why are there homeless people? Why is there no homeless person in China? I think there are several aspects that need to be understood. 1. Drugs. Many people become homeless because they use drugs, which is the most common in Western countries. The Chinese government regards drug control as a very important policy. Because in modern history, China was devastated by drugs, and opium made China a weak country. Therefore, the Chinese government does not want to repeat the same mistake. A very simple example is that if you are found to have more than 50G of drugs on your body, you may be sentenced to death. 2. Poverty. Many homeless people around the world are homeless because of this reason. However, Chinese society is an agricultural civilization, and self-sufficiency is a clear characteristic of agricultural civilization. And Chinese people are one of the most obedient races, as long as they can eat enough, they will not do anything rebellious. At the beginning of China's development, many rural people would go to cities to seek opportunities, but cities could not accommodate everyone, so there were indeed homeless people at that time. However, when many people recognize reality, they will go back to their hometowns to continue farming or doing some small handicrafts to support themselves, after all, the cost of living in rural areas is much lower than in cities. 3. Laziness. Laziness is an important factor leading to poverty, but Chinese people are renowned worldwide for their diligence. If a beggar with sound limbs looks under 50 years old, then no one will give you a penny. Because in the eyes of Chinese people, when such a young person goes begging everywhere, it is caused by laziness, not for any other reason. Therefore, they will only look down upon and not help. 4. Family. Chinese family culture is deeply rooted, and this family is not just about your parents and children, but also includes your uncles, aunts, and so on. When a homeless person appears in a family, it is something that embarrasses the entire family. So, once such a thing happens, family members will find him, take him home, and provide some help. 5. Government. In Western countries, the government does not care if you are a homeless person because they believe you have the "right" to be a homeless person, so they will not provide any assistance to the homeless person. In China, because there is no drug problem, the only possibility of becoming a homeless person is poverty. The Chinese government has used many methods to help the poor, including providing job positions, providing all agricultural materials, and even helping them build houses. This is also a very important reason why there are no homeless people in China.

In China, drug use will not be sentenced to death, but will be sent to a compulsory drug rehabilitation center for detoxification. After the detoxification is completed, the community where the person's hukou is located will help take care of the supervision and help the person return to normal life.

The simplest prerequisite for the formation of homeless people is that there is no house to live in, but in China, you can rent a very shabby house for a few tens of RMB, as long as people are willing to work, they can live a decent life. The government usually provides free assistance to those who are unable to work. In China, only the salary above 5,000 RMB is required to pay personal income tax. Besides, ordinary people can hardly touch any tax. Tax is quite strange to most people in China

In fact, there is no soil for homeless people in China, because if you are homeless and lie there every day in the city, you will not get free food, there will not be free meals from churches, and there will not be free money from the government. You will also You can't beg. If you don't make money, you will really starve to death and you won't get sympathy. There is an old Chinese saying: Helping people in times of need does not help the poor. Perhaps, this is the important reason why there is no homelessness in China - neither the government nor society condone the homeless. Human nature is inherently lazy. If you lie there doing nothing and still starve to death, you will definitely end up with an endless stream of homeless people.

You may have misunderstood the definition of homelessness. Those from other places who come to big cities to find jobs and are unwilling to pay expensive accommodation costs and stay in 24-hour shops cannot be considered homeless. If they find a job that includes accommodation and leave, or find a job that does not include accommodation, maybe they will get used to coming back here to sleep in order to save money, but that is also to earn more money and a better future. The real homeless are people who have no hope for the future, who only think about living day by day, and who no longer have a home on earth. And if these outsiders really can't survive, they can go back to their hometown in the countryside. This urban experience is at least a memory for them.

The main cause of homelessness in China in past years were largely poverty/lock of work. The causes of homelessness in the west are largely the results of addictions or addiction led psychiatric illness. There are plenty of jobs available in western countries. Western governments are not willing to provide adequately the huge amounts of resources (medical, social services, temporary housing/welfare) needed to get them well to rejoin society.

Even people who collect recycle garbage and sell them to get money are not homeless. Many elders do that just because they are bored after retirement and what to find something to do. Some of them even live in nice big house they or their kids own. One of my uncle actually does this, he is retired and have income from insurance. He likes fishing and travel around the country. He collects cardboard boxes and sell them for some money when he travel to some place that is not easy to find a fishing spot. His son can't understand why his father does this as they are not short at money. Cardboard box are cheap and a lot of them only worth a couple cents.

To be honest, there are homeless people in Shanghai. Usually you can find them in 24h KFC, MC, ATM and some cinemas. However, they can get immediate help from the government if they want. But they all have reasons which we don't know so that they don't want to get help from the government.

China has a population of 1.4 billion. How can there be no bankrupt and homeless people? But people in China like to buy houses and live with a family. In addition, even homeless people who live alone will live in abandoned buildings and bridge opening, because those places are safe and sheltered from the wind and rain. It is unimaginable to sleep on the road at will in China, which is neither elegant nor safe.

The "mang liu"盲流 mentioned by Steve is not exactly homeless. The literal meaning is aimless warnderers. It's a unique phenomenon in early 2000s. During fast industrialization many farmers came into cities thinking good opportunities and life awaiting them there. Often they did it without good planning (no good internet access back then). A tiny part of them failed to get a job and therefore not able to afford accommodation. The authority first saw these people as potential threats to social order and attemped to arrest them and send them back. Then a couple famous incidents happened. Some university student was mistaken as mang liu and thrown into jail where he unfortunately died. Also another man was physically harmed by police, which caused him to go on a rampage of vengeance in the police station and took quite a few lives. After those the government reflected and changed the detention centers into aiding centers, where the mang liu are given food, accommodation and vocational training and help. But generally these years with growth of economy and smartphone in every hand you can hardly find people in those aid centers.

Finding homeless in China? You will be surprised to have more success finding many of them in the world's most expensive country , Singapore, rather than in China. They will come out at night, so the park , void deck benches and street benches are designed to prevent sleeping in the open. Why? It would be an eyesore to the tourists and expats. You got to dig below the gleaming facade and seemingly smooth veneer to understand the world' s most expensive city state by a long shot.

I have been to China! homeless people in the city are force by the local government to move to rural areas where they can easily find farming job and a home (there are few homeless in the city who just move from place to place to evade the police)! In other Asian countries (like Phil, Thailand, etc), people only become homeless because they want to stay in the city rather than live in the rural country area. However, the government do not force them to go back that is why you see slums in these country! In the Us and the west, homelessness is caused by drug addiction, broken family, and joblessness.

In China they actually never compel you to relocate to rural areas; instead, they send you to the city of your birth (sometimes can be a rural area, it also can be a big city, depend on where you were born), as indicated on your ID, to see if you can find your family to surpport you. The local government in your birthplace is obligated to assist you in acquiring skills that could help you find employment, so they will send you there. If you are currently unemployed, they will provide you with a stipend.

You got it wrong. In fact, the China government will help those who are homeless in big cities.Send them home.Provide them with food and tickets to go home.Instead of forcibly sending them back to his hometown. If a person loses the ability to live independently and has no fixed place in a big city, then perhaps it is a better choice for him to return to his hometown.

The Chinese government has an evaluation for creating a hygienic and civilized city. One of the indicators is that there should be no homeless people. As long as there are homeless people in the city, they will be arrested by the Chinese police or urban management and either sent to a detention center or driven to other areas.

You must have been paid by the CCP to tell a lie to help them. Everyone knew that the CCP killed more than 1 billion people at 1960~1970. Today, only 0.1 billion people live in China, and they all live in mountains and eat just grassroots and mud. So China doesn't even have a normal city, it doesn't need police or detention centers.
