P.S. you don't carry the same rank from your school to other schools of even the same system or style. Or, maybe it's different these days. See I have been training sense young and I am 53 years old. Been through one myself, though it was a bujinkan school. Thankfully I realized it fairly early on. But it still took 2 years. After dealing with that and a egotistical karate sensei in highschool as well, I decided to stay in the self learning type of martial artist. I'm currently looking for a MMA gym that has open mat because it's still necessary to test yourself, and I'll always be open to learning. But I'm done trying to learn others styles. I do want to note I don't think all dojos/gyms are like either of my experiences. I'm just done with the drama and as a general rule believe people should do what the ancients did and have their own personal family styles. I will be teaching the basics of it to the general public in a purely self defense class, but I ain't gonna charge. If all you think you need from me is a lesson, for any reason, hey thanks for not wasting both of our time. My family art itself will be for my wife and son and close friends/family only.

@@semperfortisjiujitsu I found a new BJJ school , and it’s so far so good, it has 2 prof so the students get a lot of assistance when needed, and the mats are clean, the people were respectful. My only problem is my old “friends” weren’t on board, they told me how he is just messing with me, when it’s more than that. One of my “friends” had even told me that he was “disappointed that I wasn’t returning to the gym”. Once the transfer initiated my old prof I assume did something akin to damage control, he removed me from group chats. Part of me is like good riddance , the other part of me wonders if my friends were truly ever my friends. I actually lost sleep over this too. One of my blue belt friends said I’ve seen other schools and nah “I’m not interested they don’t seem to know what they are doing.”(with all his blue belt wisdom) so they are in a way making me feel bad about my decision. On a better note, I do enjoy my new gym. But it truly feels bad.

I've read comments from people saying they did BJJ and are now permanently injured in horrible ways then they say it was worth it. That seems very cultish to me. They're now too injured to be effective at BJJ which leaves them worse off before they started, but they still praise it. I'd rather be healthy the rest of my life than take a martial art and be injured from training.
@semperfortisjiujitsu Жыл бұрын
It is possible to receive a serious injury in any physical training especially combat sports. Look at how many football players are seriously injured and can barely move around in their older age. I respect the fact that training Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is not a risk everyone wants to take with their bodies.

@@semperfortisjiujitsu If someone is training BJJ for their job as a police officer or military then they probably should be careful because having a herniated disc in the back is going to make it a lot harder to do self defense. The people who do it for the sport aspect should be more worried about how they're going to perform their job outside of the sport if they get injured. For me I can only do the basic BJJ for practice in case I'm ever taken to the ground in a fight. The injuries from practicing hard aren't worth it to me since I wouldn't be able to work with a bad injury. Young people can get away with being injured a little and working.

@@rwdchannel2901 I served 33 years in the U.S. Navy and my son is currently a police officer, so I understand the risk of injury; however, the risk of injury is small in comparison to a military member or police officer not being able to defend themselves. It was me, another security guard and a loss prevention agent that arrested him. He was on drug and went psycho. They had to put spit mask on him, put him in a wheelchair and roll him out of the mall. Jujitsu helped with that arrest. Later on during his trial it was revealed he had a shank in his pocket too. Thankfully he didn't get a chance to use it because I threw him fast enough while the two other guys were on his arms.

Hey man thanks for the video and your channel, great work. I had an issue recently where my club had a Xmas break and closed all evening classes for 1 month, this made it impossible for me to attend any training due to work and family commitments. When I questioned the owner on it he just said they have morning and mid classes still and made it my issue for having to go to work. I had then reduced the ammoumt I attended to once a week and tried to cancel my DD ans just pay as you go for a drop in session buy he said he doesn't do this anymore and I'd have to be a member or I can't train there. Despite the fact I know other people pay as you go to attend currently. The whole thing left me feeling deflated with BJJ tbh but I've managed to find a few other clubs that do have evening classes that I can pay as you go for and now training again hitting a few different gyms and seeing where I fit in.
