Thanks so much… it s been more than a year since I received the 221G. My Mom missed my Brother wedding and recently her Brother s funerals and my Dad could have travelled for medical care but still, no answer besides : go to our website and request and appointment. However, when we go to this website, we only receive a blank page and not even a calendar to set up the appointment….. My family especially my parents are extremely sad as our family lives in the US and it s difficult for us to see each other and enjoy family events. Our visa expired since February 2020…. More than 2 years without hugging our family members because of that… it s more than an administrative matter now, let s not keep the human factor totally out of the equation…

Hello. I am an actor .I'VE got the EB 1 visa approval in the USA. On the 9th of September of 2021, I had the visa interview in my country Georgia, but the original divorce certificate was missing and the photo of my wife did not match the standards. Oct 7 2022 visa interview done of my two minor step daughters ages 14 and 15. They were given their passports and a 221g notice. A few days later the embassy sent me an email the need form ds 5535. I sent it right away via email and I word format as requested. I emailed the embassy two months later to see what that status is and what other documentation is needed. They said they enver received my ds 5535 form. I resent it and them two emails came as received . One in Spanish and one in English. Their medical exam will expire April 2023 from their Oct 2022 exam date. I would like some advise on how to reach out to them on their decision to the visa for Ir2. I am not sure what this processes is prolonging for minors.

Is it allowed to reapply for B1/B2 visa in a different city if administrative processing is ongoing? Details: I applied for B1/B2 visitor visa to visit my parents in USA. During interview I received a pink slip and officer asked me to send cv, source of funding and employer letter. I sent all docs on the next day. Since then, my application has been in 221g administrative processing for over 5 months. I regularly request status update and receive same reply, that my application remains subject to additional administrative processing. There is nothing in my application I could or would change. The only difference will be - how I interact with consular officer. During my first interview I was not prepared and just waited for questions. It might be the reason why I got refused. I would like to redo this and be more open and proactive during the interview.

My visa was on 14 april they took my passport and handed me a letter stating my visa is approved. Next day the status was refused and I got 221( g) in letter along with my passport. I submitted all the documents they requested and then they returned all the documents with the request to submit my passport again within 4 days and the status is still ready. Next day I submitted my passport too but status is still ready and my passport is delivered back to the post by embassy. Does that mean they again refused it or are going to schedule another interview for me?

If you have accrued unlawful presence in the US, then you have a ban on reentry for a certain number of years.

Hello Argo Visa, I had my L1 interview in Prague on July 21, 2022. VO said everything looks good but the Administrative processing is required. He returned me my passport, all papers, gave me a white slip and requested 1. A letter from my U.S.-based partner indicating the purpose of my travel, 2. A description of my area of expertise and my current area of work or study, 3. A current resume or CV indicating my work history, educational background, and a list of my publications, 4. A list of references in my country of residence, 5. An itinerary of my trip to the United States. Also he said it could take from 2 weeks to 2 months to get them made a decision. I immediately provided all documents by email and got the confirmation email saying it could take up to 180 days and I shouldn't reach out to them before 90 days passed. What should I do to get my 221g cleared except of just waiting? I appreciate any advice. Thank you.

I had my B1/B2 visa approved at the interview on June, 5th in Brazil. I’ve had two American visas in the past a B1/B2 and an J1 (Au Pair Visa 2018-2019). I’ve been in and out of the US many times as a tourist and was looking forward to getting this visa to take a teacher refresher course. I teach English in Brazil. On my case ID, it still says “approved” and it was approved by the officer, but then I sent them an email to know what was happening and got the response that it is in Administrative Process. The reality of 221(g) is it allows the officer to sit on the case indefinitely. I strongly believe the only way to get "unstuck" is to file a mandamus lawsuit in federal district court. The government must answer in 60 days. In most cases, rather than filing an answer, the US Attorney reaches out to the consulate/embassy in question and the consulate/embassy makes a decision on the application. They can either approve the visa or deny it rather than sitting on it. And that's what a mandamus lawsuit does (it has worked even for B1/B2 visas! even when COVID numbers were skyrocketing).

You’re right, it works. It forces them to make a decision. But it doesn’t force them to make the right decision. In many cases, you’ll just get your visa denied unnecessarily with this tactic. You have to know what type of 221g your case is undergoing before making this decision.

i had gone for my visa interview for C1 visa, i was going from Addis Ababa to Toronto and I had a layover at Washington Dulles for a day. I had valid Canada Visa, and flight ticket. The lady on counter asked me why I was going to Canada, i said to meet my in-laws. she asked me whether I was going with my wife i said no, he was looking satisfied, then she looked at my past employment in Army, she asked me whether I was in Indian Army I said yes, she then went to supervisor and came with a letter and said my application is under administrative processing, she kept my passport and flight ticket, I told her that my flight is in 15 days , she said it will be over much before that, i am not sure why she needed administrative processing, is it due to security concern or other, i am waiting for their reply , its one day now and status says refused and says if under administrative processing embassy will contact me later, ... so just waiting

I’m from India, working in SG for past 4+ Years. I had my interview on oct19 for h1b and h4 VISA in Singapore US consulate office. Officer said my visa is approved and 2 days later i got passport of my dependants with stamping. But my passport is not and when i checked my status it was in refused status on 20th oct, with 221g INA and they had asked me for 15 years address, employment, countries travelled, social media, number, email address details and shared on same day. They replied it will be moved to administrative processing within 2-8 weeks. Since then i haven’t seen date changed for the case updated. What shall i do here ? Seems like its 8 days havent seen they are working on my case based on last updated case.

It seems like you’ve been put into administrative processing and there isn’t much you can do except wait for it to be completed.

I had my interview on 27 May 2022 for F1 visa and the officer told me that my visa is approved and took my passport and gave me the Blue informative slip tat said interview is over and your visa is approved, but now when I check my status is also says REFUSED and I also got an email saying its refused under 221g and they asked some question regarding my work history, travels, siblings, phone number and email address and I replied and sent them all but I have not heard back anything, anyone know or have any idea what is happening?

I had DropBox appointment on 10th Nov 2021 and was issued 221G for scheduling appointment. I was scheduled appointment for 27January, and there also I was given 221G for Administrative Processing. I have been waiting for my H1 stamping from Last 4-5 Months now. I was on my vacation to India, and now stuck in India now because of stamping 221G issue. Any advice?

Respected sir/ma’am I attended interview for f1 visa on August 9th and I was approved with visa by the Consulate officer and he kept my passport and said I will be issued with visa within 5-10days. The very next day I received 221g via email which set of additional information to be answered and replied back via mail. Now it’s been 6 months and I have no information regarding the case and I had to defer twice and the college informed me that this will be the last deferment possible. Email them to ask for an update on your case. With DS-5535, it’s possible that you will have a very long wait time.
