I traded my TAR for an X95. The TAR is definitely nicer looking, particularly after I converted it from a flat top to a sort of pseudo-IDF configuration. But every criticism I had of the TAR after years of use was fixed in the X95. I was actually impressed with how well thought out the X95 is. Doesn't mean I dont miss my old TAR!

my favorite platform. have and original sar and 2 x 95's. one is 9mm. like original mag release though but either works. the accuracy between the 2 is minimal. 2.0 - 1.8 moa factory triggers and factory ammo in mine. not all ammo but 3 moa with cheaper ammo. done this on numerous occasions. not on a video game. lol. nice collection.

Hey Buddy, I like your Tavor breakdown. Just so you know, a weapon(s) platform is that upon which weapons can be affixed. Usually a medium machinegun or larger, up to artillery or rockets / missiles might make use of a platform. Some civilian, probably a gamer trying to sound smart, called a rifle a platform decades ago, and it's been spreading like wildfire.

In the U.S. under federal law per the NFA of '34, it is a minimum of 16" for rifled barrels, 18" for smoothbore and and overall length of 26" to not be an SBR or SBS. Its pretty rare that a 16" barreled rifle doesn't meet the 26" OAL but I'm pretty sure the Tavor and the PS90 both had to have either a longer barrel, an extended butt pad or a permanently installed muzzle device to meet it. For the PS90 its a 16" barrel but its muzzle device is "pinned and welded" so its really a 17.xx" barrel.

When the .308 Tavor 7 came out some people bitched that it was stupid that the 7 didn't come with a rubber recoil pad when the 5.56 Tavor did. They didn't realize the regular Tavor had that recoil pad added on just for the U.S. version to meet the 26" OAL while the Tavor 7 didn't need it for that.

Permanently installing a Muzzle device can also be used to meet the barrel length requirement, 99% of time its for this and not OAL like the PS90. Its becoming more common for people to go with a 14.5" barrel and then pin and weld so that it is just barely 16" including the FH. Some do it to have as short a package as legally possible without paperwork and others do it as a middle finger to the ATF. Are you guys allowed to do this in Canada to meet the 18.5" law?

@@toki89666 The T-7 doesn't really need a butt pad because the felt recoil is low similar to X95; however, I did put a Manticore Arms butt pad on my T-7 and my X95 because of the way the pad is cut and the grips on the pads. The flat butts slide around too much but this Manticore pad stays where you put it, and the curve helps you to hit the pocket nice and tight. It's the only change I have made to either weapon. I just put an optic, a light and a sling on them out of the box and go to the range.

Are all Tavor 21's chambered in 556 and able to shoot 223? my gun has a 223 stamp on it.

If you are unsure take that weapon to an FFL and have a chat. If the barrel is stamped .223 and not NATO 5.56 DO NOT fire 5.56 thru that weapon. You could experience a fatal malfunction for either you the weapon or both.

IWI's add for the weapon states it's a Colt "style" magazine, so it would take a little more investigation to find out if takes their magazine as proprietary, or if Colt mags would work. Mine is 556 so it all works for the most part.
