The lighting above your head and off the tripod seems perfect, and there is nothing to knock over. It amazes me how just a few steps with a frame can look so fabulous. I did order a small set of cotman paint, I want to try it. I bought the tubes. Thank you for your time and great hints.

Let me know how you get on with the Cotman paints. The lights are perfect. As you say up out of the way they put out plenty of light. One would have probably been enough.

Must show my husband this Patrick. He likes woodwork and has been cutting up old frames ti re-use but he could also improve them , as you did.

I like doing this way saves money and it’s a good to recycle. I’m pleased you enjoyed it. 😀

Beautiful painting.

Beautiful. Lovely frame. A tip I heard was to buy ready made frames and cut/paint to fit. Saved a bundle but I am largely doing it for myself. Great stuff

Beautiful painting!!!! Thanks for covering this aspect on presenting your work, it’s just as important as the painting itself. Perhaps in the future you can touch on the subject of pricing ones work. That’s always a tough one! 🙏🎨🙏🎨🙏

UK painters check out Wilko photo frames, they often include a Mount.

Great video Patrick, I would love to see how you get your paintings flat before mounting them.
@PatrickLeyGreaves4 жыл бұрын
This particular painting I stretched the paper before painting. When I cut it off the board it was as flat as a pancake. If I don’t stretch first and the paper cockles I dampen the back of the painting sandwich it between two sheets of cheap watercolour paper and place some heavy books on it. 24 later you will have a perfectly flat painting ready for framing 😀

I love the video. I believe you said you use eggshell paint, any brand will work? I am in the US, any idea how to get inexpensive frames? I assume this would also work for oil paintings, do you agree? What is the name of the wax.

Painting is fantastic. I’m not crazy about the color of the frame. I probably would prefer brown/dark. But I don’t know anything about framing. Can someone give me an idea about any framing rules?
@PatrickLeyGreaves4 жыл бұрын
Luckily my customer loves it 😀what rules do you want to know about regarding frames ?

Thank you so much for sharing your tips! I'm wondering what you use for the backing? Would basic cardboard work?
@memalus4 жыл бұрын
I would love to see a video on how you actually do the framing including the backing, if you haven't done something like this already.
@PatrickLeyGreaves4 жыл бұрын
You can get specific backing card it’s about 2mm thick. A lot cheaper than hardboard or mdf.

I will add it into a video in the future. Please keep watching .

Hi Patrick, I recently signed up for your channel and I want to ask you a question. I am a watercolor beginner and one of my biggest difficulties is just being able to simplify the shapes but without looking sloppy. Can you tell me which of your videos can help me the most to learn how to solve this problem? Thanks for the reply. Francesco

Great info, Patrick.What mat cutter do you use ? Most are too expensive for me to afford ; wondering if you have an idea how to save on this too. Thanks a lot.
@PatrickLeyGreaves4 жыл бұрын
Thank you I’m pleased you enjoyed it. I use a Frame Co mount cutter.it produces excellent results. I bought mine second hand off eBay I paid about £110.00 a few years ago.

Thank you. I am checking that out. Stay well.
