Great review! Honestly, I find your gear reviews to be more helpful than what I usually see on KZbin. You're very frank and to the point about the stuff...not an excessive amount of tech talk, but enough to give me a clear idea of what the device is capable of. Great job.

Thanks Kurt. Wacoms seem so far out of my price range but maybe an artisul could get me going! Does it come with any software?

So if you’re primarily working on an iPad Pro, are you using Procreate and then exporting the file back to your PC to make it into a CMYK TIFF?

Yep. I usually do some tweaks in PS in between but yeah.

Well, XP 22E is at that price now, 400$. Have you tried that one ? (I know, you don't like big tablets. I love them...)

+3polygons Big tablet ergonomics aren't great for me, plus the screen at 1080p over 22 inches is a ppi of about 100. It's just too low a resolution for me. It's like working through a screened window, and the pixels appear too large for me.

@@colorwithkurt Yep, I know a lot of people can't stand that (must be specially obvious coming from retina). I personally don't have an issue, worked as a pixel artist for years (mobile 2D games), so I even like to see the pixel ;) . Now I do illustration and quite some line-art, and personally, I prefer wider gestures for that (drawing from shoulder and elbow). Not as much as I loved painting in Fine Arts on 2 meters canvases or wood panels, paper and charcoal, but the Wacom XL (and several large display-tablets I tested) are totally my best fit. That said, I learned drawing as a kid in A4, letter size format, making comics. Is not that I hate that size. My current monitor is 23 inches (semi-pro, calibrated) at 1080p, and is totally fine for me :). Indeed, what I can't stand is small screens (for both the drawing act, and as a screen for work), specially 12 inches / 13 inches. IMO, is just how many different types of feet are there, so much that the same shoes wont do for every one... Thank you for your input. :)

Good review Kurt, thanks for the heads up. I've always been a Wacom guy, so that's probably where I will stay.
