I totally agree that silicones are not the devil, but it's important to know your hair and how it reacts to certain ingredients. Because I have low porosity hair that tends to experience buildup, I try to avoid silicones unless I am going to heat style my hair because silicones are great for heat protectants. If I do use silicones I make sure to clarify my hair at my next cleanse to remove the silicones from my hair.

Hi Dickey! I really hope you see this question! In one of your videos you said that build up on the hair can occur after 1-3 months or so which is when some would opt to use a heavy clarifying cleanser. But in between those times, if you are using silicones while only washing with water and a cream wash how exactly are you allowing your hair to truly absorb moisture if your hair is constantly coated on a daily basis with silicones? I thought that the only way to truly remove non-water soluble silicones is with sulphates? Yes the hair may look nice, soft and weighed down but how will this affect the hair over time? Have you ever considered adding cone free products as an option for your line?

I'm trying to see what results from me washing my hair every three days lightly sud then drench rince for five minute then conditioner because uwas told moisture from water is absorbed after shampoo before conditioning

So what's a good spray shine for natural hair

Personally, I like any of the wig oil sprays. Wig oil sprays? Right. Go to the any beauty supply store and look at the products for wigs. They will have ingredients you can pronounce and very few if any cones in their products. Plus, it's very light weight and non-greasy.

Hi Dickey, thanks so much for these quick & digestible jewels🌻 Ask Dickey: 4C/4B, Waist-length, Low-porosity, Zero heat, Zero color, Zero style (always in Ms. Sealy twists), Weekly Shampoo, Occasional DC (working on that), Well managed dandruff (which is why I always shampoo, w suds). Single. Strand. Knots. Please help, this can't be my life. I'm considering trying the daily wash n go but fearful bc despite keeping my hair in twists nearly 365, I have a head of SSKs. Is there a solution? Also, knots in general...this is by far my biggest fear about taking the wash n go plunge. I won't have a lot of post-shower time and plan to air-dry, don't own a diffuser, and do not desire to blow my roots in the AM. I am willing to rinse daily, though. Are my 'don'ts' deal-breakers if I intend to have a positive experience w it? Finally, how will suds free washing affect my dandruff? Not dry scalp, responds extremely well to pyrithione zinc. Almost exclusively flake-free for years w proper management, is there cause for concern regarding build-up? Thanks for your time if you get to any of these questions. Thanks in general for your dedication to your craft. Salute.

I love doing a daily wash and go the Dickey way - but I'm wondering, is it damaging to use a hair dryer daily? I usually air dry at night as I've been worried about drying out my hair or causing damage.

No it’s not he talked about He said no it isn’t because as long as you are doing wash and go’s daily then the dryer will not harm your hair.

Silicones should be avoided please it will eventually block moisture from entering your hair. Do your OWN research and stop listening to other people
