Give Me An Answer with Stuart & Cliffe Knechtle

Күн бұрын

No. 31
Recorded - Fall 1996
The "Give Me An Answer" ministry began as an outgrowth of the dialogues Cliffe Knechtle has had with students on various university campuses throughout the United States. These universities include the University of Maine, Harvard, MIT, University of Florida, University of Texas, University of Wisconsin, University of Minnesota, University of California Los Angeles, University of California San Diego, Berkeley, Stanford, University of Hawaii and the University of Washington. Cliffe spoke on these campuses in front of the Student Union or Library at noon for five to ten minutes. At the close of his initial remarks, he'd open up the time for questions and answers, which usually turned into a two to four hour dialogue with students. His crowd size ranged from 25 - 500 students at a time, and between classes, new students would join the discussion. This is an extremely effective way to reach a large number of university students with the Gospel of Christ.

1996, wow man. I was 15 years old and started partying that year. My grandma used to tell us about God and the Bible, and I was listening in the back of my mind, but didn't want to commit myself to God at all. Now im 42 and I over the last 7 years i have been getting closer and closer to God. Its hard to change a life of 25 years partying, but I hope and pray I will get there. The Lord Jesus Christ is worth my life, anyday.

Whilst I get the point he was trying to get across at the start of the video regarding trust, there is a big flaw in the example of trust he was demonstrating with his boy by throwing him up and catching him etc and showing that his boy trusted him despite him being a faulty human being, and the flaw is that whilst he might not be perfect, at least Cliffe is a physical being that his boy could see and feel is real and solid. Therefore his boy had every reason to be confident that Cliffe was capable of catching him but what if Cliffe was invisible, intangible and existed outside of space and time?? Would it have been just as easy for the boy to trust an invisible, intangible daddy to catch him as it was to trust a visible and solid one? 🤔🤔
@camillewilliams3185
@camillewilliams3185 11 ай бұрын
I think Cliff was only trying to make a point by throwing up his son. He's illustrating how we can put our trust in things we cannot see. The boy can see his father but he has no clue if he will succeed in catching him. Also, the thing is we have so much physical evidence for an intelligent creator simply through our existence and the complexity of things like nature and bilogy. God isn't this transcendental being that we have zero way to connect to. For example, the fact that we have the Bible in which God is invested in humanity and reveals himself through Jesus says a lot to me about his character. But believing in God is something every person has decide for themselves. It's always a choice you make. Having become a follower of Christ, I've come to have a personal relationship with him. Sounds crazy but it's true. And it's amazing. Freeing.
@JohnCashin
@JohnCashin 11 ай бұрын
@@camillewilliams3185 Yes but the boy does have a clue, in fact, more than a clue. He has probably done this many times before and knows from personal experience that his father can and highly likely will catch him. He could see as well as touch his father and gauge how big and strong he is. He has ample evidence of his father's ability to catch him. It's true there's no guarantee, Cliffe might make a mistake in his timing or something but the boy knew it was unlikely and he has good reason to think it's unlikely. Whereas, if his father had said "Son, I'm going to throw you up but I'm not going to catch you, instead, let an invisible, intangible being catch you", would the boy still be as confident to do this little stunt then? Well, I wouldn't blame him for not being, would you? We are not able to gauge what we're dealing with when someone or something is invisible, intangible, or if they're even there at all. Can you see what I mean?

My sister and I didn’t worry about whether we would have something to eat or a place to sleep. My father threw me up in air, in fact I trusted him so much , I begged to be thrown up in the air, my sister also. What really made us trust my father was my mother who followed wherever he went.

"The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance." 2 Peter 3:9 NIV It is not God but people who commit evil. He is patient for our repentance. If He wipes out all evil now, it would include everyone as we have all sinned. His judgement will certainly come against those who are unrepentant but out of His grace He's giving us all time to repent and not to sin anymore.

Its abit odd....many say Christ is their Lord and God.....But when it comes to the Sabbath of which Christ is the Lord of ...They suddenly make a turn around and say No we wont obey the Commandment even though Christ is the Lord of the Sabbath.... The Word in John 1 who Moses recognised as the Rock that followed Israel in the Wilderness , who created the Sabbath and became Jesus Christ clearly is recorded as saying: ....Genesis 2:2-3 (NIV):"By the seventh day God had finished the work he had been doing; so on the seventh day, he rested from all his work. Then God blessed the seventh day and made it holy because on it he rested from all the work of creating that he had done." There it is God (Christ) blessed the 7th Day rested and made it Holy!..... Somehow People are NOW rejecting What Christ (The Lord) made Holy and turned to follow a Day which the POPE claims to be Holy! How Did This Happen? Switching from the Lords Commandments to a Mans (POPE) Commandmnents? Imma choose scriptures over your opinions sorry The New Covenant Is Against "Once Saved Always Saved" Romans 11:22-23 New King James Version 22 Therefore consider the goodness and severity of God: on those who fell, severity; but toward you, goodness, if you continue in His goodness. Otherwise you also will be cut off. 23 And they also, if they do not continue in unbelief, will be grafted in, for God is able to graft them in again. Hebrews 10:26-29 26 For if we sin willfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, 27 but a certain fearful expectation of judgment, and fiery indignation which will devour the adversaries. 28 Anyone who has rejected Moses’ law dies without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses. 29 Of how much worse punishment, do you suppose, will he be thought worthy who has trampled the Son of God underfoot, counted the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified a common thing, and insulted the Spirit of grace? James 5:19-20 19 Brethren, if anyone among you wanders from the truth, and someone turns him back, 20 let him know that he who turns a sinner from the error of his way will save a soul from death and cover a multitude of sins. 2 Peter 2:20-21 20 For if, after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled in them and overcome, the latter end is worse for them than the beginning. 21 For it would have been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than having known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered to them. 1 John 5:16-17 16 If anyone sees his brother sinning a sin which does not lead to death, he will ask, and He will give him life for those who commit sin not leading to death. There is sin leading to death. I do not say that he should pray about that. 17 All unrighteousness is sin, and there is sin not leading to death. Jude 5-6 5 But I want to remind you, though you once knew this, that the Lord, having saved the people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed those who did not believe. 6 And the angels who did not keep their proper domain, but left their own abode, He has reserved in everlasting chains under darkness for the judgment of the great day; Revelation 2:4-5 4 Nevertheless I have this against you, that you have left your first love. 5 Remember therefore from where you have fallen; repent and do the first works, or else I will come to you quickly and remove your lampstand from its place-unless you repent.WRONG!!! Matthew 7:21-23 King James Version 21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. 22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? 23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.Hebrews 10:26-31 King James Version 26 For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins, 27 But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries. 28 He that despised Moses' law died without mercy under two or three witnesses: 29 Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace? 30 For we know him that hath said, Vengeance belongeth unto me, I will recompense, saith the Lord. And again, The Lord shall judge his people. 31 It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.Proverbs chapter 28 verse 9 he that heareth the law and chooses not to follow it, his prayers are an abomination to God. Mathew chapter 5 verse 17 - 18 think not that I have come to destroy the law. I have not come to destroy.......and not one jot shall pass by Mathew chapter 5 verse 20 for I say unto you that unless your righteousness exceeds the pharicees you shall by in no means enter the kingdom of heaven. Revelations chapter 12 verse 17 and the dragon was wroth with the woman and went to make war with her seed, those that keep the commandments of God AND the testimony of Jesus Christ. Now how can you take these out of context ? Now how can you justify breaking the law and commandments ? Now how can you justify continue to live in sin? Revelations 12:17 the devil only mad at those who keep to the old laws while they follow Jesus. If you ain't following old law the devil don't care how much you say you love Jesus If you truly loved Jesus you would follow his laws too. Mathew 5:20 your righteousness must exceed the pharisees or ye shall in no case enter the kindom of heaven NOW TRY TO TAKE THAT OUT OF CONTEXT!!If you love Jesus (yeshua) and the father (yawei) then you will love his laws (the Torah) and do your best to follow them. I know I accepted Jesus as my God and started obeying his laws like observing the sabbath(saturdays) with him and keeping it holy for him he started pouring blessings down on me.Gina Alston now you are just flat out lying. He continually talks about being obedient to God and repenting which means to stop sinning. And what is a sin? BREAKING THE LAWS OF GOD SO HOW DO WE REPENT(STOP SINNING)? FOLLOW HIS LAWS!!!If you love Jesus you won't be beefing with his laws you'll be following them. Have a bless one!

@bonnie43uk What is your definition of a miracle? Mine is that which doesn't occur naturally. It is God (or someone outside of the natural) reaching into the natural and making a change. And if God can make this change today, could He not have done it in our past, using inference to the best explanation. All true believers in Jesus believe that God did a miracle in our lives to make us born again. Therefore, if miracles happen today, then they could have happened in the past. So, we have no reason to doubt the historical record of Jesus resurrection, because miracles are possible today.

Hey Cliffe, Im a 23 year old Ecuadorian. I live in Quito, Ecuador also known as the "heart of jesus" due to its very faithfull citizens. Ecuador is known to be a very faithfull country, sadly Ive seen young adults depart from God and not only that but also be ashamed of openly worshiping him. Lot of doubts have been installed in this young minds which are lesding them aeay from God. I personally have been belssed with reconecting with God at a level I never thought possible. Your content all around the internet helped me more that you could ever imagine. And I would love to save some hearts here in Ecuador with your teachings. If there is any chance you could visit some Universities here Ill be more than glad to help, or if you have any other idea that lets me keep Ecuador and its young minds close to the Lord and its teachings please let me know. I really cant think of anyone more prepared than you to takle many doubters and maybe transform many lifes around here. Thank you for you work and God Bless you.

Jesus Christ trusted individuals he chose throughout history to reveal things about God, they were prophets and apostles. The apostle Paul and the apostle John revealed things about Jesus through their writings and speech. Paul reveals in Ephesians that God would always do it in that pattern, there would be prophets and apostles like himself: Ephesians 4: 10-15. He specified how long there would be prophets and apostles, “Till we all come in the unity of the faith,…” to trust Jesus Christ we look for His chosen servants today, the prophets and apostles with the best claim, consistency with scripture, and evidence.

Just as Cliffe says....it's a heart issue to repent of your sin & trust in Jesus (Mark 1:15/Acts 3:19), not an intellectual issue, fulfilling prophecy of Romans 1:18, "The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of people, who suppress the truth by their wickedness"

"God has total control over all of his creation at all times.He can do anything he pleases including remove evil and suffering anytime He feels like it." The triune God will in the end, read Revelation. Have you repented of your sin & trusted in Jesus (Mark 1:15/Acts 3:19) before it's too late (Hebrews 9:27)? Eternity is a long time to be wrong (Revelation 20:15). If something is declared evil, it logically assumes good exists, necessitating moral law to differentiate good/evil, necessitating moral law giver (the triune God); there’s no meaningful morality from a godless worldview born from a universe of chance/chaos/nothingness/unknown… So God is necessary for anything to be considered moral. "He also has the power to change minds through telepathy (direct communication) so He does not need Prophets to distort His messages." Who says the prophets are distorting? Are you talking about examples like Mo & John Smith? God's word isnt distorted, its branched out by being twisted as the devil has done from the beginning, but you can find God undistorted, supernaturally prophetic, historically verified, objectively moral word available freely, most Christians are happy to give you one. You can even take initiative & learn greek, hebrew & latin to read the original, undistorted thousands of manuscripts online. The triune God is sovereign/omnipotent to keep His word undefiled. May the triune, infallible, omniscient God bless the reader with faith in Him, not fallible man’s limited knowledge of theories.

Are you suggesting that God could have simply changed all people's minds right now to have real faith in Him and repent from their sins and the world would become perfect and loving and everything would smile and enjoy themselves but then God decides to keep most people in darkness and sinfulness so that most of the would not be saved and end up in Hades?

There is a thing which we can call the fashion of the day. And this relates the current customs of the times. And as much as possible we try to subscribe to the fashion of the day to gain those necessary feeling of acceptance from the society whom we deem to be the worthwhile ones. In other words we care little what some lost tribe from the Amazon thinks of us. In order for some to obtains this sense of acceptance they will get tattooed. Other might might feel compelled to lace their speech with profanities from the gutter. In the 1930’s every man wore a hat. It was the fashion of the day and they were careful to rarely use curse words and particularly not so in the presence of women. This has changed because the fashion of the day has changed. The cowboys who shot each other believed in God because it was the fashion of the day. Today the fashion of the day is to believe in the non existence of God so much so that people no longer say God bless or God speed. Today, if you mention the word God many people feel icky inside because they get feelings of unacceptance. Therefore good and decent men in order to not bump people out of their feelings of acceptance avoid mentioning God. But I say let them suffer this because I am not going to put a cork in it. I will continue to say God has given us good day hasn’t He. Let them cringe. Too bad how sad. Todays fashion of the day is up the creek.

Cliff is right on alot of topics except the fact that he once said "catholics who accept Christ are our brothers in Christ." That simply isn't true. Once a person genuinely accepts Christ they no longer call or consider themselves Catholic because having ANY sort of attachment to catholicism is satanic. Catholicism is utterly and completely idolatry and satanic and any root to it is satanic. We are NOT brothers in CHRIST. He's right on alot of doctrines except this. I completely disagree with that. Catholics are on the same level as other cults like Jehovah witnesses, muslims, mormons, 7th day adventists, harry kushners, Buddhists, etc.. The Bible says in 2 CORINTHIANS 6:14 "What communion has light with darkness..." and (1 Corinthians 10:19-20) their idols are literally demons, and (Psalms 115:1-8) tells us they are serving a different god than OUR GOD which is in heaven. And so much more. DO NOT BELIEVE every social media influencer who starts preaching that catholics and christians can unite because that simply isn't true. Catholics are NOT saved, they are in danger of hellfire.

I agree, catholic worship statues. It's literally idolatry. And praying is for God, why do they have to pray to Mary and other bishops. It's full of traditions rather than just following what Jesus taught or the bible taught.
