You hit the nail on the head with this FAQ. You act like a victim. Sometimes the perfect victim. This is very obvious when you look back at the Manuel video. The character you created was a perfect victim. Naive, confused and bad at communicating over email. The scammers lightened up when they thought you were a pensioner because they knew Manuel was a great target. These scams are also designed to cast wide and get a small number of bites. One scammer dropping what could be a proper victim is actually a decent hit to their bottom line. Furthermore, when you get a scammer way of script like in this video and the last video you are having them waste a lot of time. This also impacts their bottom line, they are failing instead of investing time in someone else. Lastly it's worth noting these people likely don't care about improving. There are free programs like grammarly for spell checking, basic grammar, readability. Since they have templates it would be worth getting those templates looked over before sending them out especially since some of these scammers do have English contacts. But they don't. Almost all of these videos showcase horrible grammar. If they were going to get better it would have already happened. Sometimes the poor grammar seems almost intentional, an old lady with dying of blood cancer might not be the best at writing

I have to share the pure irony that occurred yesterday. KZbin just happened to recommend one of your scambaiting videos to me a few days ago and I've been watching quite a few for the pure entertainment value. Yesterday morning, a scammer posed as one of my high school teachers (made a copy account) and messaged me through Facebook. I immediately recognized this as a scammer because 1) she was my English Literature teacher and the grammar in the email would have made her fume and 2) immediately upon searching for the company "she" was telling me about, it came up as a reported scam. I spent five hours deploying your tactics and had a lot of fun before the account was deleted. Before I started watching your videos, I'd block a scammer and report them. Instead, I was able to get screenshots and share to make sure mutual friends were not scammed. For that, you've earned my subscribe and support. Thank you for what you do, both educationally and for the entertainment value.

*John Warosa* (Japanese: ジョン・ワロサ) is an antagonist in Nintendo's "Barosa" series, designed as an arch-rival to John Barosa. He first appeared in the 1992 Game Boy game "Super Barosa Land 2," as the main antagonist and final boss. His name is a portmanteau of Barosa's name, and the Japanese word warui (悪い), meaning "bad." @@AtomicShrimp I have a perplexing question. This video was published today, less than one hour ago, so how then is it possible for an account named as "Africa Everyday" to have posted two comments onto the thread of this video yesterday? Could it be that they are connected to the original John Warosa or John Barosa? Or maybe they are connected to the United Nations guys you are dealing with? If that is the case, then I completely understand how it would be possible for them to do that, because they would just use their diplomatic immunity to exempt them from the laws of physics and the natural passage of time, much in the same way that politicians are able to use their diplomatic immunity, to go about their daily business and lives without having to adhere to the same restrictions and lockdowns as the rest of the people of the world and without them having any fear of catching Covid, as their diplomatic immunity protects them against it. The8th Gemmer That's somewhat disingenuous. Indonesia has a population of 270 million, compared to the US's opopulation of 330 million. Some scammers take advantage of victims not knowing what bitcoin is, I recall once seeing another scambaiter deal with a CRA (Canadian IRS) scammer who claimed that Bitcoin was a special form of tax payment processing. But it seems like the majority of scammers just deal with victims misunderstanding if it means it's harder for their transactions to be traced and blocked/reversed by authorities.

This was one of your most complex, and entertainingly effective scambaiting scenarios, creating a second entity which directly disrupts the scam by creating a whole new set of claims based on presuppositions which the scammer has to agree. Great!
@nerdprjncessshortsandstrea78433 жыл бұрын
Another point on the helping scammers improve: for someone to improve at a skill they need feedback about whether what they are doing is effective or not. But when scambaiting nothing the scammer does has a significant impact on the result. At worst, it helps them identify scambaiters, but obviously stopping scambaiting would do far more to help the scammers than helping them identify scambaiters would.

So, I was trying to remember what film franchises used the "Resurrection" subtitle for a sequel... two biggest are Halloween and Alien, which frankly have a lot of broad brushstrokes with this John Warosa property (dare I say "legacy"). Both franchises rely on mostly recycling the plot from the original, Halloween especially likes to ignore continuity and reset the characters. So, using that as a guide, the next John Barosa video should be either a full reboot of the first video, a crossover episode with another scambaiter, or a special effects extravaganza that ends up posing questions about the origin of humanity that it doesn't satisfactorily answer and then gets somewhat reconned in the subsequent video.

In terms of the benefits of scambaiting - even just what you covered in this video - you must have taken up many hours of this scammer's time, with him/her constructing long bespoke emails specific to the John Barosa situation. All of this time taken from the scammers is time they can't use to scam someone who may fall for it. For each scambaiting video you could be saving tens of thousands of dollars from being scammed off others. Great content Atomic Shrimp, thanks.

This story has such a solid plot I'm starting to believe the box is actually real, so immersive! And what a cliffhanger, can't wait for the next episode to be aired. Wonder what the scammer must have thought when John Barosa came into play all of a sudden, the man, the legend, the owner of *the box* himself! This needs to be made into a screenplay "" The Barosa Box "". Who will win and get the box in the end? The rightful owner of at least the box - probably not the money inside it - or his former partner in crime who thought John dead for so long? Oh and we need a prequel "Barosa - Legacy" that tells how John came about that money, why it's disguised as gold bars and how he subsequently lost his box. Just imagine, John and Mert pulling off a heist and storing the yield in this box, then John fakes his death so he can go underground and off with the box. Through an unlucky situation he loses the box though and the United Nation™ takes possession of it, who can't figure out what to do with it so they email a random beneficiary... who coincidentally happens to be John's former partner in crime. This brings the two back together, but now the race is on because they both want to take the box for themselves. However, what none of them noticed: The United Nation™'s email to Merten might not have been all that random, because actually they are acting on behalf of the FBI (as given away in the mail shown at 24:40) who want their information-s to catch both Barosa and Snerden so they can finally close the Warosa case once and for all. ...will they make it? Or will they get caught? This and more, next time on ShrimpTV!

I can definitely see a comedy of errors type play where a criminal tries to sell a box saying it's full of gold to two dumb friends but every time he makes up a character the real person shows up and he tries to scam them too, and each one of them has a different way to make things more difficult.

idea: in a future scambaiting video try pretending as though youve never made an online transaction in your life and you need to get the scammer to walk you through each step in detail, you could come up with excuses like "whoops i think i sent the fee to the wrong person" or something like that
