This WAS a Parody of the James Bond Franchise... "What would happen if the 60's James Bond were here today". The Bond Femme Fatales names were sexual innuendos (Like "Pussy Galore"), "Random Task" was to Austin as "Oddjob" was for Bond (Oddjob threw his hat to decapitate his enemies). And Dr. Evil was Patterned after "Blofeld", Bond's nemesis.

You know how with some franchises, the first movie is a hit, so they make a bunch of sequels in descending order of watchability until nobody from the first movie is even in the final one? Yeah, well forget that with this franchise! Every single one of these is top notch quality. Oh sure, I may have my personal favorite, (the second one), but all of them offer the best of the original characters as well as introducing new faces and scenarios from the early Bond / Flint era.

"What are these?!" They're a reference to Rowan and Martin's Laugh-In, a very popular TV comedy show in the late 60s and early 70s. Very anarchic and surreal, with a 60s hippy vibe: the longer sketches were interspersed with transition scenes of a few seconds of the cast go-go dancing, with the young female cast members wearing bikinis. The blonde woman at 21:27 is supposed to be Goldie Hawn, who played an exaggerated "dumb blonde" character, and her hair really was that short back then. [Edited to add] If you search KZbin for "Mod World Of Adventure | Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In | George Schlatter", the thumbnail of Goldie Hawn looks almost identical to the scene here.

James Bond meets Monty Python. The script is literally a quote fest. Absolutely hysterical, overtly ridiculous and subtly sensitive, it's the best. Someone parked so far up my ass the other day that I literally found myself in the hallway cart seen. At first I was pissed but then remembered this and just had to laugh! The second film builds on what works in this one but the last, I digress. It's not mine baby! Also have to love Carrie Fischer and shout out to Scott's Kurt Cobain shirt. RIP. i dont know about anyone else but i still love the 60's/70's decor so much i think it all just looks soo cool. best thing about the austin powers films is the Easter eggs galore for james bond films like Random task who throws a shoe... instead of odd job who decapitates with his bowler hat. if you are going to watch the sequels i advise you to watch some of the older james bond films so you get the references.
