I purchased both a Model 3 and Model Y a year apart and both have a design in the bottom aero panel underneath the cars. In both cases, a screw or bolt came off and allowed for a portion of the front of this panel to flop down, and hence start to hit the road any time you go through a dip in the road. Eventually, this break off while driving. Also, when it rained, the cars would collect water underneath and get into the underside. This caused mildew and I had to replace the cabin filter earlier. Both cars were less than one year old. Getting both aero panels replaced cost me about $400 each from Tesla. They did not consider this to be covered by warranty. This is a design flaw that needs to be fixed by Tesla. If you do a google search on this subject, you’ll find multiple instances of this by other people.

@@Chad_Max Tesla is not soley a car company, it's a Tech company and I tell people all the time when purchasing a Tesla especially a lower trim such as a 3 or a Y youre purchasing the technology not luxury (despite the price range). However, considering they do build cars and have been in the Automotive industry a lot less time than most I think they're making decent stride. This new generation definitely has a lot better quality than the first and most people buying any product brand new first generation form should very much expect their to be a certain level of risk. This is why I never by the first generation of anything or the first year of a new generation. Give it a year or so, so they can work out the kinks then buy. Another mistake people make is buying new anything and expecting perfection. You should still be going around and checking your vehicle for things like this. Because they have a knucklehead CEO who doesn't get the simplest things. Like people aren't going to invest in your company if they don't trust you. Yeah, he's smart and was really impressive at first, but people don't trust him for lots of good reasons. He is spread too thin and his focus is elsewhere, X is a horrible mistake from an investor's perspective; he talks out of his keister, promising things he can't deliver or at least anywhere close to when he says he can. My partner has had a 2024 Model 3 as a company car for 6 weeks now, and we love it. As MKBHD said, it‘s the perfect EV for beginners, even for me as a stick shift enthusiast, just so quiet and comfortable, yet quick. There is just one problem, and it‘s not the missing stalks: with the facelift, Tesla got rid of the dedicated parking sensors and also the rain sensor. The latter is a big problem, because the variable wiper interval just doesn‘t work anymore. The car almost never notices rain, and we have to use the button on the steering wheel repeatedly, except in some cases when we drive behind another car. The lighter the color of the car in front of us, the more „rain“ the car „sees“. In a queue behind a white truck, the wiper goes berserk, even in a light drizzle.
@kenlowe-ca10 ай бұрын
Missing stalks is a huge learning curve for anyone with prior driving experience. I can understand wanting to move away from a legacy fail point, but it is still a fundamental change. It is like driving in England on the left side of the road or the concept of roundabouts at intersections rather than stop signs and lights. (which, by the way, are fantastic once you learn how they work!) Does the current refresh rely on the cameras for sensing?

We have one of the first dual motor model 3s delivered in Canada in October 2018. Ours is also a beautiful red, and with free software updates, it has more features than the day we bought it. We're at 110,000 km (68,000 miles), and the battery is currently at 97% of the delivered range estimates. There aren't enough feature improvements to justify us upgrading, but for anyone who was on the fence about a Tesla, DO IT! It is a fundamental paradigm shift that you will not regret embracing. This $200 nonsense right after I had just paid $600 to service my 14 year old Forester that needed a transmission hose replaced because the fluid leak had caused it to stall at low speed... I have to service my Forester twice a year... It's never costed less than $350 to do and I even though I don't drive all that often or far, I have to fill it every 2 weeks or so because the mileage has dropped out the ass and I barely get to touch 400km out of a tank now. I love how massively they have improved the M3, but there are two things that stop me from buying one. 1. No radar/ulrasonic sensors. This relies on cameras, which for me is a big safety concern and when it comes to parking in tight spaces, i will not trust a camera's depth perception. 2. Missing indicator stalks. Here in the UK we have a lot of bendy roads and roundabouts, so often the steering wheel is not in a straight position, so it makes it hard to hit the indicator quickly
@andrasbiro300710 ай бұрын
1. Watch a few FSD videos, and you'll see that their depth perception is excellent. Overall much better than radar or even ultrasonics. And the main advantage is seeing in 3D, while the traditional parking sensors only see in 2D. The software needs some tuning still, but already pretty good. And you always have the mirrors and cameras as a backup. I fount that I almost always ignore the parking sensors in my Model S, and just use the mirrors and the backup camera. 2. That's an issue, but you can get used to it. Countries with a lot of tight roundabouts are more problematic. The solution for that is steer-by-wire, I hope the Model 3 will get it too.
@RavzzG10 ай бұрын
@andrasbiro3007 I almost agree with the parking side of things, because side mirrors will always be the go to. But I'm worried about the cruise control part, especially when the sun comes in at an angle, causing lens flare and at that moment a car could come into my lane. That's where the security of radar comes into it, I don't have to worry about weather conditions, it will just work
@wonderboy7510 ай бұрын
@@andrasbiro3007Yeah, Tesla could remove the sensors when the software works as well has the sensor equivalents, but Tesla always removes things prematurely, like they did with wipers and parking sensors. Wipers are still not working after 5-6 years. For some reason some people keep putting up with Tesla doing this. They also like to sell you expensive stuff (FSD) that isn't finished but stays in perpetual beta. It's not even out yet in EU even though some people bought it about 10 years ago.
@wonderboy7510 ай бұрын
@@andrasbiro3007 Cameras can work well in ideal conditions, but when hit with direct sunlight, raindrops, snow, and dirt it's better to have some redundancy. Darkness and wet roads also affects their perception, so cameras are obviously limited by physics.

@@pedipedi9559 It's an issue with Tesla vehicles manufactured in the US. All the Tesla's coming out of the gigafactory in China and other parts of the world have no panel gaps or cosmetic issues. I was a Tesla Advisor (US) a year ago and it's at least what myself and a few other Advisors in France were observing.
@pedipedi955910 ай бұрын
@@GreenDriveIndia I'm not bashing the car. Just expected Tesla to improve on quality. Though I have to say, I was almost the only person at that time of delivery who had issues. The other cars on delivery looked a lot better. But my car was the only cherry red one. What I don't understand though, is Tesla expects the customer to find pre-delivery issues. At least my issues should have appeared at the factory QA checks and corrected which leads me to think Tesla are saving money on QA controls. I just don't know. Anyway, all issues are booked via the service section in the app. It was quite hilarious to see all the new Tesla owners with check lists going over their car at the delivery center. A sad testament of quality unfortunately.

By pressing the buttons, which in fact are closer to your hands when the wheel is partially turned because your hand is in the same spot during the maneuvers unless it's an extremely tight turn.

Just drove a RWD one at Fremont. Coming from our 2018 RWD, it's definitely a big upgrade in most departments. We don't have the double-glazed glass or extra sound deadening that the 2020s got, nor do we have eco tires anymore, so it's hard for me to say how much of the improvement is from 2020 vs 2024 updates. But it's just INCREDIBLY solid and quiet. I was super impressed. I like the interior improvements and tweaks a lot, too. The new wheel, especially being heated, is awesome. I found it odd that MKB was so outspoken about the stereo, and it being a "mini Model S". The stereo on our 3 punches WAY above its weight for the era. My father has a 2017 S and the stereo is *awful*. I'm sure the S got a much better system over the years, but the 3 was way better than the S when it was released. On the downside, the lack of stalks. Sorry, that's a deal-breaker for me. Even the stalks on our 3 (and on my X5) that don't stay where you put them, are bad. BMW came to their senses and went back to stateful stalks, but Tesla learned the wrong lesson. The swipe-to-drive is okay but awkward, again, a downgrade. On the styling front, while I like the new headlights and the leading edge of the new bumper, the rest of the front bumper is a bland downgrade. The loss of the lower lamps and foglights and the scallops in front of the front wheels makes it look really plain. Rear lamps and signals are an improvement, at least they're still amber (had to retrofit 2020s on our car).
@twistedspine73009 ай бұрын
i like most of the upgrades on this refresh, but i purchased a 2023 model 3 in june of last year and am happy i did. i have a lot of the upgrades they added up until the refresh while still getting to keep our stalk. ours has the heated steering wheel and sound deadening improvements while keeping the stalk and we locked in the $7,500 tax credit so we're very happy. the only upgrade i wish ours had that the refresh has is the cameras, as the quality there is much improved over ours.
