@@HybridMoosa I'm originally from NJ, near Toms River and then lived in NYC for 5 years before relocating to Texas in 1998. The IS500 would be fine for NJ weather, just keep good tires like a Michelin Pilot All Season on it. I had a 350 F-Sport as a bridge car while waiting for the 500. The AWD has the 6-and saps performance a bit but then again, the 8 speed is often searching for the right gear. I like the platform and I'm older so I'm not a bench racer, but the main appeal of the IS is that it's a car that's "fast enough" and will be a more durable alternative to the Euro and US alternatives and probably the Acura or Infiniti too. AWD is definitely nice in the northeast and if you don't mind the different drive dynamics of the 6 speed it's a good option. But I'd probably buy the 500 and just deal with a few "snow days" and stay home.

Loving my new IS500, but if it came in a manual it would be absolutely PERFECT. I would have bought 2 of them the same day. I prefer the "outdated" interior. Functionally perfect, quality materials and has a classic feel that mature car enthusiasts prefer. One of those 'if you know you know' type of cars that only a certain group of people can truly appreciate. Well the dead spot was there. An absolute disconnect from any steering feel. Don’t know how much this is influenced by Lexus Driving Signature or just the way an IS feels but it was there. Hi David, thanks for talking about this car again. Does this V8 have dual injection? I may have to buy one, I just wish it had the 3.0 version of safety equipment 😞My other question is, what is the lowest speed you can engage the cruise control? Our 2017 Corolla won't engage until 28 mph, which works out to 45 kmh. I am hoping that the U.S. version can now work across all speeds, whatever Toyota/Lexus calls that? In other words, it could bring the car to a stop, then it could start up again (e.g., in bumper-to-bumper traffic)? Thanks very much David.

Yea it can do all that and do lane changes.

Yup...Port and Direct injection.
@philhenderson351611 ай бұрын
Yes, but keep in mind this revised 5.0 (2020) has the direct injection operating at higher pressure vs the 2015-2019 version. This higher pressure has presented issues with the high pressure fuel pump seen with the LC500 and the IS500. All they do is replace the fuel pump with a new one.

@@philhenderson3516 I'm on the IS500 forums on Club Lexus, and I think we've seen a total of two owners with issues. One of those was because he had under-glow. So, one.

I sold my sports car so I couldn't really justify getting another sports car.I really wanted one of these as I've owned an IS and ES and they were some of the best cars I've had, obviously the ES being FWD is not my favorite feature but it was more for the wife to drive so I didn't care that much😝 I'm a Jeep guy now and I really like that.

ISF owner here, and I enjoy the engine sound too. :-) Curious if the ASC mimics the secondary airbox flapper valve opening @ ~3700rpm? Or is it just applying synthetic V8 sounds at lower load and rpm?
@allenzillmer191711 ай бұрын
I was not knowledgeable about Lexus "F" products when I got my IS350. Recall one day when I was going down the road with my 2014 IS350 V6 and this slightly older IS "X" pulled along side me and gunned it. At that moment I learned that the ISF was a thing. :) Congrats man.... the other dream car for me.
@ARentz0711 ай бұрын
The airbox still opens in the IS 500. So, it'll sound basically the same as an IS F if you turn ASC off.
