Although classed as a new generation; the platform, size and practicality remain the same for the Nissan Qashqai. Changes include a new design, interior and updated tech.... Is that enough for the Qashqai to hold onto its title of the best selling C-segment car?

I still have an older model and would consider updating to this latest version. Thank god they’ve kept the physical dashboard controls. The updates have keep the Qashqui looking modern and appealing. The blue colour looks fabulous in the sunshine. I just need to buy a lottery ticket and win enough to buy the top spec model with the “grandpa” leather !!! Great review Tish.

The best thing could happen to hybrid cars is e-Power, IMO. I also love the physical buttons and the fair enough interior quality for the price. After e-Power I can never imagine to buy a regular hybrid car, but e-Power or full electric ones only. I've been on a driving camp (driving training for special, unexpected situations), and all I can say, Qashqai's safety system and the "driving feel" during difficult situations were extremely calming and just right. In everyday life though, the safety system is a bit too paranoid, it gives me heart stopping occasionally with false alarms, so that needs some calibrations IMO. All these experiences with a J12 Tekna. Oh, I almost forgot: the HUD is the best thing if safety is important for you, it showed its real value during the driving camp: I could stare at speed and the road the same time without constantly looking down. Helped a lot, I loved it.

its the 1.5 thats worth a look , heres the thing, i keep a car for 4 to 6 years , but the warranty on the e power fandango batteries only a 3 yr warranty , so i walked (doesnt matter the old or tweaked one ) , shame nissan didnt consider a 5 or 6 yr warranty on their e battery set up.

Android Automotive is just like Android phones in the way that the actual hardware running it and what the manufacturer has added to it can make your experience completely different. I wouldn’t compare them tbh as it’s likely bad Volvo software rather than anything wrong with Android Automotive itself

Great review. What safety features automatically activate (assuming you don't use the custom mode) when the car is fired up? Currently our Audi A3 always starts with the physical lane departure warning where it literally stiffens the steering wheel rather than just sounding an alert, and honestly it's just dangerous - it gets confused way too often. To turn it off each time means several clicks through menus and I hate it! Also - am I right in thinking there's a button on the door handles that can be pressed rather than having to use the button on the key? Last question(!) - the driver assist custom option, is this available and activated from the shortcuts menu accessed via the steering wheel on all trims? We have ordered the N-Connecta.

There are no BIK benefits as it is not a plug in hybrid. Attracts 28% BIK which on a N-Connecta ePower is around £170/month

I do really like the look of the new Qashqai, even in the lower specs, but I'm not sure why! Its very unassuming. That said, I'd be loathed to choose one over our Hyundai Tuscon which is such a solid and practical car and has a far better reliability rating.

I got the opportunity to look at the North American version of this (called the Rogue) at the Syracuse Auto Show and was quite impressed with it - especially the roughly $30K (U.S.) price point. It is definitely on my list of contenders for new vehicles to replace my current 2013 Honda CR-V. And Tish, love the outfit you wore for this review. 😉(nice legs, sweetie!) 😘❤

I just dont get the point on having a turboed engine just to charge the batteries. Why not just put a drive shaft in it and be done with it. That new ocean colour is stunning by the way though probably scary expensive if you need a repair on a scratch etc. If its a flip style paint. Great review Tish, keep them coming.

Take a look at the Nissan UK website: You only get the horrible brown (umbra leather) on the Tekna. You sure you didnt drive the Tekna model, not the Tekna Plus? I like the 19inch alloy wheels like the ones on your video, but you cannot choose 19 inch wheels and black interior trim. Tekna + has 20'' wheels and black interior trim.

I fear some people will be drawn to this car as a range anxiety free introduction into EV driving. Other reports have shown the efficiency-mpg improvements made by the e-Power hybrid system is only marginal while having none of the realised benefits of a full electic drive train - so still subject to Road Tax, still subject to ULEZ restrictions and/or charges, still subject to congestion charge, misses out on lowest BIK as still has emissions. I think any range anxiety concern which might drive the choice for this drive train is flawed - in the UK we now have 32 300 public EV charging sites (compare that to 8 353 petrol stations), a well chosen EV can give over 300 miles range (Lands End to John O’Groats is 837 miles) and if one has home or work place charging the fuelling costs/service and maintenance costs/road use costs can total to being an order of magnitude cheaper than an ICE per year. If one has home charging I think this choice of drive train is a difficult argument to make. Additionally the tiny 2.1kWh battery means the generator is almost always on charging the battery or generating power for the electric motor-noise, vibration and revs detached from how fast or how much work the car might actually be doing. 3.5miles/kWh is a typically EV efficient. You can see a 2.1kWh battery would give 7 miles!! Of course there is the original price consideration of this compared to a similar sized battery electric vehicle. But that’s all changing with the introduction of new much cheaper EVs and massive discounts and/or purchase incentives on existing models to come as the UK ZEV mandate comes into effect this year/next year forcing manufacturers to attain a certain percentage of their vehicles sales being EV which steps up each year leading to 2035 when sale of new ICE ban comes into effect.
@joshwalton1977
@joshwalton1977 28 күн бұрын
That’s a lot of pro-EV waffle. A big selling point of this drivetrain is indeed the EV-like smoothness given the electric only drive. EVs do not and will likely never be ideal for everyone. For me personally I cannot charge at home, and cannot charge at work either due to company policy. I fuel up twice a week, public charging would be a complete hassle. When I swap my car next year this will likely be my choice as it is a really pleasant drive (I’ve driven the X-Trail with this drivetrain as a rental) and the whole EV issue is one I can look to solve years down the line only when I’m forced into one
