My advice Kate is to hang on in there. I discovered McKenna in 2000 just after he sadly passed. I was (and forever will be) a Bill Hicks fan and he name-dropped him on one of his shows and my journey started there! I was young, as was the Internet and his talks/lectures/insights were scarce online - but I bought his books. This is what I recommend! Read him first, then listen to him, then understand him. I’ve often declared his the most important intellect of the latter half of the 20th century for years to friends and family, all of whom feel the same way as you- and as I don’t consider myself intellectually gifted by any stretch, I can only conclude it’s because I read him before I listened to him! So give it a whirl, and welcome to the rest of your life 🙏 x

so true...be your own boss..go it alone and do not follow any leader...this has been the way of some of the rich and powerful...stubborn and goal oriented and not listening to others...ignorant...focusing on only their way...highly disciplined..able to repeat and repeat the same method or formula over and over again and thereby turn it into their reality...fact which then bears fruits....let's remember that something being based on a lie never stopped it from being hugely powerful and successful (mormon church is a prime example) it just means everything is anything you want to make out of it...anything goes...no rules but the ones you make...the elites make up laws for the sheeple to follow and suffer by but THEY do not follow any laws..they are a law into themselves...they can break all laws knowing they are rubbish and that their will rules over all

@@peterlarkin762 in other words culture is follow the leader BS...why follow the ideas and visions and rules of someone else? or the ways developed by people of the past that no longer apply today? (except in matters of survival that have been time tested...for hunting reasons...shelter and so forth) why stick to things that are not in the present?...I once met a dude in thailand with a small black ink triangle tattooed on his third eye point and after chatting a while asked him "what's your religion?" and he said "me"...in the same way a person who is in their power can say "my culture is me"...fact is everything is anything you want to make out of it and words ultimately mean nothing just as all is nothing...everything is changing and in flux and open to interpretation...whoever convinces another that what they do is wrong or that they need to perform some certain task just has a higher power of illusion over the other who follows him...there is no rightness or wrongness in anything....only views and ideas and willpower to control others to follow your way...if they have more power than you then they can make you do something or equal power they will just say "no go away" ...it is a very simple principle...just have full faith in your idea (even if it's bullsh!t) and keep focusing on it and doing a method or ritual over and over and over again and you build up a force...the force when strong enough begins to bear fruits and you are more enabled to achieve what you will...we all have this magic in us...no need to get jabbed or be under virus tyanny either but too many sheep easily follow and do what they are told and they suffer by it and then complain...weakness covers the earth now...if people of 100 years...200 years back..500...1000...1000's could see the condition of humans now they would say "they are mentally sick and need to be killed off" they have gone soft and weak and are full of doubt and confusion...the people of old knew how to fight against oppression...they had common sense...dumbed down humans now are ripe to be culled...hey ona lighter note check out "all inclusive consciousness theory" on my channel...a short message for unity in the muck of severe dualism humanity is mired in

In late 1999, McKenna described his thoughts concerning his impending death to interviewer Erik Davis: (he was diagnosed w/terminal brain cancer) I always thought death would come on the freeway in a few horrifying moments, so you'd have no time to sort it out. Having months and months to look at it and think about it and talk to people and hear what they have to say, it's a kind of blessing. It's certainly an opportunity to grow up and get a grip and sort it all out. Just being told by an unsmiling guy in a white coat that you're going to be dead in four months definitely turns on the lights. ... It makes life rich and poignant. When it first happened, and I got these diagnoses, I could see the light of eternity, à la William Blake, shining through every leaf. I mean, a bug walking across the ground moved me to tears.

That’s beautiful. And Such a Simplified Answer to Living in The moment or Truly Living. Each Conscious moment should be Soaked up, eXperienced fully and Felt with any and all senses. McKenna being Moved to tears by the Beauty of Creation in his final phase of this Dream, is an Honest and Real Awareness of The Divine Beauty All Around US at all times, Its so Sublime and We being so desensitized and Stimulated by a myriad of Illusory issues mentally that we fail To SEE it with Eyes that Feel and Feel it with Eyes that See. McKenna most certainly was already aware of this but his tears were not from noticing IT for the first Time, but possibly for the last. Our Experience here is so beautiful. And yet trapped within this construct of material thought and desire, we must Focus fully and with discipline On the Truth of Our lives. Thanks for sharing that ✌🏻

I was lucky enough to meet and hang out with Terrence in the jungles of Plalenque , Mexico in January 1999. He was part of the psychedelic conference at a hotel called Chan Ka...I was part of some back pack travelers living in El Pan Chan. One of the guys in our group was attending the conference and that's how I was able to get in and meet everyone. We hung out by the poolside and Terrence just talked he was so mesmerizing. We came another day and met up with Terrence and Johnathon Ott about coming to our camp. Terrence came over and we all sat in a circle and listened to him speak!!! He also talked about the expansion of the universe and time. I didn't know the significance of that experience at the time. What Very lovely man, so humble and intelligent. I think he died later that year...so sad. A true visionary!

An hour or 2 (sometimes more if I'm lucky) with Terence is so engrossing and immensive it can be its own psychedelic experience. @Darren He wasn't seeking spirituality in the way of people from the hippies to now have, that whole movement micro dosing, smoking DMT, abuse of drugs etc, he was better than that and used the drugs more like how some of the medical system is starting to study again. These drugs can change lives for the better especially if used by the mentally ill, but are never to be abused. They are true medicine only and can bring positive changes in ones life, sometimes only with one use. I still have my core which has not been changed by very infrequent psychedelic use. I have seen people find God, Jesus etc through psychedelic use, like yourself. These are extremely complex substances that need to be understood from every angle. Just because I don't believe in belief systems doesn't mean I don't have a hope and faith in something that may or may not be.

@Darren Darren, I watched your video and I agree with you even though I also agree with most of Terrence McKenna's view. May I suggest 'Advaita Vedanta'? It's the pinnacle of the Vedas, most of the time overlooked. It speaks about the natural state of ignorance we are in, how to acquire knowledge of the true self, but also it deals with the power of projection and veiling that cover our consciousness. I read you have found your path and if you like I can recommend two books on this advaita subject, if you are interested of course. Thanks for the video it is refresing to see a new prespective on something I am familiar with.

I've literally spent years listening to hours of McKenna's audio orations and narrations combined with Allan Watts, Sam Harris, Jordan Peterson and many and their beautiful minds. Parallel with that I've became acquainted with the work from wonderful Paul Stamets and his thorough mycelium research and his acknowledgement and confirmation of the misrepresented/misunderstood theory of "stoned ape hypothesis" in McKenna's book "Food of the Gods". Throughout the years one thought was always present in my mind and that is the notion of all of "us" as "One Being" manifesting itself through confines of our society (faster and faster with the means of technological byproducts such as social networks), and which has gone through its "puberty phase" and is now looking itself in a mirror of society and it's not "happy". Also I recommend very recent and beautifully presented experience while on psilocybin mushrooms, by Sam Harris. Love u all ❤️ P.S. Alan Watts is fantastic. This is particularly hard hitting, right from the start. Title is "Your role in the game of life": kzbin.info/www/bejne/aXatlJeng5V_qLs . "The social game is played with an initial rule. The first rule being 'this game is serious'... or 'this game is not a game'". He talks about how "the joker" character has this insight... which explains why Russell gets it so well.

@ Kate:There is no current or past teacher who comes close to Alan Watts. While he too pontificates like many of t'others, Alan gets to the kernel of the kernel faster. Alan has said on several occasions that he talks because he is paid to and that's how he earns his bread, so to speak. "This IS it and YOU are IT." Most folks don't understand the striking of the gong as a symbol of Zen.

I like Alan Watts and Terence McKenna both but I like McKenna more. I know what you mean with having a hard time wrapping your mind around his philosophy, but to be completely honest I don’t think Terence McKenna himself would have claimed to have his mind wrapped around his philosophy either lmao he often said he had some bats in the belfry, but the more you listen the more you will understand his craziness

It's aimed at the digital citizen and digital revolutionary. I'm not sure how it'll go down with the lecturer but I reckon I'll now be drawing on some of T-MacKs ideas. 'Rejecting Authority' I think the video is called. We can see the duality in this evolution with the separation of the Public into groups LBTQRSTUV...It can protect us from authoritarian control and fuel it.. I'm deeply suspicious of all things Covid..how healthy is democracy, public health and cultural output seeming? I went to church for the first time as an adult recently (at this point just "exploring") and I found myself simultaneously disagreeing completely with one of the speakers (on covid) whilst recognising the unity despite the disagreement, in our shared use of the church. Much of western civilisation is/was rooted in Christianity, its history and use of power is obviously mixed but irrationally or not, I'm not sure, I fear we are in the process of replacing the Church with something far, far less Holy.

The physicality of the atom is only 1% of its existence, yet that is all most of us are aware of. And even if we are thinking, most of us are thinking about physical relatable thinhs.
