Thanks for another very informative and we'll delivered video. I only started watching your videos a couple of months ago and you have educated and inspired me to stop taking Nexium which I've been taking sporadically, over the past 15 years! I am now 1 month free of Nexium. 💪🏼👍🏼 Thanks from Ireland 🇮🇪

I just recently have found your videos and find them very helpful. I have low Vitamin B test results for 15+ years and also low Vitamin D. My latest tests results were: VITAMIN D, 25 HYDRO 31 ng/mL and VITAMIN B12 379 pg/mL. My doctor has never explained any of this to me like you explain in your videos, she's only concerned with my B12 and not the D even though before adding Vitamin D to my supplements is was the lowest she had ever seen. She was giving me B12 injections but had to stop when my levels went to normal because insurance won't pay to keep levels up. I do know that I do not have precocious anemia as they did test me for that but have never explained why it is so low. I eat meat, eggs, fish and have a pretty basic diet. I have been prediabetic for a few years now but not nearly as long as I have had low B12. I do have idiopathic neuropathy in my feet and have had for a couple of decades. I have no stamina, lots of fatigue, weak muscles and in general weak and have to rest often. Thank you for making this video. I am going to try raising it naturally and hope to feel better.

Thank you for you taking the time to virtually sit down face to face with each of us via your videos and explain this so carefully - just like we're your patient! Good heavens - it's wonderful. My doc is too swamped to help - other than getting me bloodtests to spot some deficiencies - but no follow up or testing to find out WHY. (He used to be a great doctor until the system started crushing him.) I found Kirkman makes a NATURAL b-complex (celiac safe - no cross contamination) that's making me feel better so I assume my numbers should be improving. (I only take about 1/4 of a capsule or 1/2 a day so far based on the percentages it contains - broken into two doses.) My zinc levels were down too, but zinc glycinate has proved very easy to tolerate - 20 mg by nordic naturals - 1 capsule broken into two doses per day (10 mg each dose). If your practice ever moves about 875 miles west / nw that would be amazingly helpful. :-) (Not likely, I'm sure, but I can wish!)

THANK YOU Doc for being a REAL doctor unlike the 90 % of the healthcare system. How does testing Homocysteine tie into B12 ?
@DrJinSung
@DrJinSung 3 жыл бұрын
B2, B6, B9, B12 and trimethylglycine are important co-factors in converting homocysteine to cysteine. Homocysteine elevation is correlated to cardiovascular disease as well as Alzheimer's. Basically, it's neuro-inflammatory. www.sciencedirect.com/topics/agricultural-and-biological-sciences/homocysteine foodforthebrain.org/for-health-professionals/homocysteine-b-vitamins/ Best, Dr. Jin

I'm a retired competitive cyclist, but still ride pretty hard for fun- had a grand mal seizure 3 years ago after a long hard ride, and the neurologist prescribed Keppra. I continue to have nocturnal focal seizures (5 or 6 a month), and have been looking for the trigger for those non-stop. Was it dehydration, etc. Then it dawned on me that I'm vegetarian, and maybe it's B12. Second week with the lozenge form of 2,000 mcg, so will let you know- thank you!!!

Isn’t it the task of doctors prescribing medication to follow up on the expected long term side effects of this medication to take precautionary measures to reduce those effects? Or have available solutions?
@carissa8487
@carissa8487 Жыл бұрын
You are the only Dr I have seen/heard say that with PA, the actual B12 level should not be a marker for what is being absorbed. It is so hard to have a Dr continue with treatment of B12 injections, based on symptoms, and not levels. Its infuriating. My daughter is 17yrs old, has recently been diagnosed with PA, has ASD and has had neurological issues throughout her life, before finally being diagnosed with PA. She is now short sighted, she was not 12 mths ago. Her B12 level was about 1000, so now Dr's won't give injections. Im not medically trained, but I know this isnt right and I know her symptoms were dismissed for years because her B12 levels appeared within range. How on earth do we treat this if Dr's are going against what should be normal protocol? Why do not all Dr's know how to treat PA as you have described?

Serum B12 is not an accurate marker. If you take B12 the serum levels can seem normal or high. The question is B12 being utilized. Checking methylmalonic acid and homocysteine would be more accurate of B12 need.
