Antoine and Denzil from Ocean Conservation Namibia were in charge of this seal rescue, Naude is still recovering from his seal bite from Saturday. They spotted a baby seal that was wrapped up in several layers of fishing line. He was feisty and put up a good fight when Antoine tried to restrain him. Everybody was a bit nervous after Saturday's incident, today was the first day on seal patrol again. Antoine eventually decided to put him back into our custom build seal catching net and they started to cut the seal free with our Leatherman Raptors. After a while they noticed that this very unlucky seal had been caught in not only one, but two balls of fishing line. They cut him lose and he happily waddled back into the water.
Without our interference, the seal would have either suffocated, starved or died of infection as the fishing line gets tighter and tighter around him.
The activists from OCN caught another 6 seals today, bringing our total seal rescued to 380 seals as of 11 August 2020. 🦭

No, what is happening is that the pups are now almost one year, they are strong and feisty.

This is a PERFECT demonstration of just how good Naude is at this!!! Antoine's efforts to quickly pinpoint and grab the exact right spot on the seals head shows just how difficult it is to do. I really enjoy this whole crew but Naude is clearly still the king when it comes to quickly restraining the seals! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Love watching the good team improving the lives of these seals of the animal kingdom to reduce the suffering as they are set free to scamper into the ocean to hunt and prosper. It's a truely beautiful thing you do. Thanks.
