Agreed, I don't always watch them but I learned all about yarn from Crystal. She has been correct 💯 of the time. If I ever need specific kinds of yarn for projects, I refer to Crystal. If someone else has crotchet or yarn needs I refer them to Crystal. 😊

My Walmart has some yarn but has not the same amount of colors they use to. The other choices are Hobby Lobby and JoAnns in my town. I have purchased from them all but so disappointed what Walmart has done in the last couple of years. So have purchased on line most of my yarn and recently purchased from Premier Yarns. Love your presentation on both yarns and have watched another person post about the same yarns. I’m happy with both. ❤❤❤😊😊😊

Ok, I do not mind the muted colors… there is occasion for that. I don’t mind the very lightest color. I dislike the large stripe of the lightest color, it doesn’t fit, it looks off. I would have to measure it against the other colors and cut out enough so that it doesn’t look so out of place. I wonder if all the colors are like that??

Your opinions match my own, except I haven’t actually touched the Premier yet. But I agree with the colors also don’t like the whitish in some of them. I can see for certain projects I might like Premier better. I do love the ease of getting the red heart easily at local stores. Thanks for sharing

Crystal, I love your yarn reviews. Not being an experienced yarn buyer, I would not have seen the stark white in the Premirr until I had worked it up AND I would never have thought of cutting it out. Your comment about the "white" is spot on IMHO.... to me the the word OMBRE means a subtle change of ONE color... not going to the extreme of the color being "lost"! Another fun video! Hugs, GrammaBabs

I love an Ombré yarn on a ripple afghan. I made some as a teenager in the late 80’s-early 90’s and gave them as gifts. Maybe it’s time I make one again. 😅 ❤❤❤ the video.

I so agree with you, I don't like the ones that are so pale almost white in the ombre! I don't prefer the muted either,but some of the colors were nice. I just prefer a teal to be teal & the burgundy to be true to color! I love yourreviews, compassion and all the videos/lives you do even if I don't get to see it live! Thanks for all you do sharing your craft & knowledge with us! I've learned so much. I too will stick with Red Heart Ombre! I love there colors,haven't found one I haven't liked that I bought yet! However if Premer had better saturation in there colors all the way through, I'd buy some and try it,because AZ doesn't require heavy weighted blankets, hats & stuff, so the fact that the yarn is a little lighter, but you get more yards does interest me. But only if they did something about the color issues. I too am a stickler for color in my Ombre!

SOOOO glad you decided to do a review Crystal and Thank You very much for having done so! I opted to not hit that "button" on the cranberry/burgundy. I was VERY sorely tempted!! But glad I did.. It looked gorgeous on site, phone, computer! As with any thing "new" QC takes time. Red Heart did have an issue for awhile, but they have since addressed it. I agree on the white, blaringly obvious. Nope, not in an ombre. Will I continue to use Premier, yes in the solids. I'll wait to see how this "new product" develops and if any QC is done by them regarding saturation of color. Competition, being what it is, if you're gonna play, play to win. 😉

Crystal I checked that color as you talked about it and it looks almost like a rich Merlot on their website, not a bleached out maroon. I’m glad you’re doing this review because now I can see the true colors. Thank you.

I love the saturated colors, too, if I were making something for myself, but if I were wanting a really pretty soft baby blanket, I'd definitely go with the Premier for the muted color palette and the softer feel.

Thanks for telling us about the Premier Ombré. I am a big fan of Red Heat ombré too and have made numerous blankets in all their colors. I like the idea of it being a lighter #4 , I live in a warm climate so lighter is fine and I like getting more yardage. I’ll probably try it, thanks!

Excellent yarn review, Crystal! I thought I was the only one who grew up thinking that if I didn't expect much I wouldn't be disappointed, or surprised at how good something really was. You're right, Red Heart Super Saver Ombre is number one in my book also. when I first saw the Premier Ombre I thought they looked just like Red Heart. I was a bit afraid that maybe they had purchased the rights to Red Heart's Ombre. Thank God they didn't. But they say that imitation is the best form of flattery. Well, they sure flattered Red Heart. You know, this almost reminds me of the shopping trip you and Mr. BOD made to Walmart and you were picking up some RHSS Ombre yarn and the colors were so faded or muted.. I felt like, oh no, please don't change the color. Thankfully, it seams like it was just a mistake in the batch . I liked seeing the test sample you made on your knitting machine. It really helped to see the transitions of the colors. Also, one person's opinion does matter. I do like how you tell us to check it out for ourselves. You're the best, Crystal. That's only my opinion, but it is backed up by the opinion of thousands more. Keep up the fantastic work, Crystal. God bless you.

I bought some Yarn Art Flowers Merino that had a HUGE swath of white. I worked up one row and then cut it out. And YES your opinion matters a lot to me. I get so much information from you that it has made me a better crocheter and saved me a TON of money not buying crappy yarns. Don't discount your years of experience as not valuable or valued. I don't know about the color change. I love ombre. And collect Red Heart Ombre. But it is made in Turkey and the color is more muted like Premier. There were complaints about it on line. What I like about the original ombre is it blends to the point color control isn't needed. 20:57 I hope they listen to you.

Very informative and I agree with you. Just wish Red Heart wouldn’t be so scratchy to work with. I keep using it though because, as you said, it’s the best flowing ombré ever and it washes and drys beautifully. Thank you for posting. I like the Just Yarn solid colors and was hoping for a nice easy flowing ombré with no abrupt mid row surprise color changes.

You crack me up 😂 I agree with you with the white 😏 My favorite Red heart yarn is "roll with it" 😍 Jo-Ann's, Michaels and Jobby Lobby don't seem to carry "roll with it" in Vegas like they did in the Northwest.... Such a bummer for me, with my income I need to search for the lowest price! I do see it on Amazon but it's never on sale 🥴 I recently purchased a Caron Jumbo ombre that does have the white in it too, but it was on sale, I just might have to splice that out, I'll have to see where it ends up in my project because it's not at the end like the halo! I love the Caron colorama halo (I think I've purchased every color, yes even the one with white 🤪) they are beautiful and soooo soft but I'm finding the white in the yarn isn't too bad, I've been making one of your summer poncho's and it looks really good with the white at the bottom. I agree with you 100% Crystal & wish I had waited for your review before buying the ombré from Premier. I bought the burgundy & the teal & to me both are lighter in color than what they look like online. I also hate the white (or almost white color) that many companies put in their ombré yarns. I realize that’s personal preference but when it doesn’t match their online pictures but other yarns they offer do match online pictures then it makes me wonder 🤨 I am stuck to only being able to order online because I live in the mountains of WV & too far away to travel for yarn. I also have a very limited budget so I must shop sales & cheaper yarn, I must say I like alot of other yarn Premier makes but this one I wish was a little more saturated with color & no white. I do want to say that Premier does have one of the BEST customer services I’ve ever dealt with. They accidentally sent me the wrong color on one of my orders & I sent them a text message & within 5 minutes they sent me a reply apologizing & sent the color I requested out immediately & let me keep the large size order that was the wrong color❣️ No hassle at all & I thought that was very generous of them. Thanx Crystal for all your help with everything & next time a new inexpensive color comes out I’ll wait for your comparison before buying! 🤣 🙋🏻‍♀️🦋🙏🏼✝️🕊️

Red Heart has beautiful ombré yarns, and I prefer the more saturated colors too. The ‘scratchy’ quality is the only off-putting factor; some I can use, some I can’t. I’ve ordered 2 skeins just to try it, because I can always use Premier yarn. This side by side comparison was SO helpful!

Thank you sooo much for doing this yarn review! Like you, I love ombrés. In fact, I’m making a wrap with Read Heart Anemone right now - working on it as I watch your video. (I got it at JoAnns on sale!). I’m glad I got the deep, dark Red Heart color for this wrap. I do see times when I’d use the Premier Just Yarn ombres, though. I like some of those colors. I make a lot of kids’ hats and scarfs for charities, and I think the Premier yarn would be great for those. It’s so helpful to understand what the choices are. Please don’t stop doing yarn reviews!

It is very useful to know that, in general, the Premier is more muted. Like you say, some people like the more saturated, vibrant colors. I think I would tend to go for that as a norm. Also good that you pointed out that you can't go strictly by weight vs dollar vs yardage. Even with a slightly lighter yarn, You have to expect that there may be a difference in the feel and look of the finished project. Yeah, that almost-white contrast... It looks like those don't have as much variety in the fading in and out. It is interesting, as well, that they didn't put that extremely light shade on the other colors. I used a Lion Brand of multi of vibrant colors (not an ombre), and they had a white that they ran MUCH longer than any other color. I had to cut it out to keep that from becoming the dominant! I really fussed at Lion Brand over that. They gave me a coupon, which I appreciated, but that didn't make up for the extra work (AND ends) during my work. 🤨 OMG You are sooooo right about the burgandy being misrepresented. Same difference showed on MY computer, too! Did it beat Red Heart for me? NO Not for me either. ☺

I've put aside the beachy themed afghan with Red Heart Ombre to work on the afghan for your auction. Then I still have 2 family afghas I need to do but the beachy has Buff for sandy color then Coral, Spirmint, Scuba Ombre for the stripes between.
