The Ottoman-Polish wars in the 17th century, no doubt, were a zero sum game for both parites. At the end of the day, Russia, Austria and Prussia have benefitted from these conflicts and the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth were divided among these kingdoms. Poland made some fatal mistakes as it overtrusted and leaned on the Habsburg power against the Turks. It was the Turkic balance of power to keep Poland standing against both Russian and Germanic rules, which later on destroyed the Polish Kingdom. Whenever the Ottoman horses drink the water of Wisla river once again, then Poland would be saved from the partition. An old Polish saying put the geopolitical reality as the Polish envoy requested the Ottoman help from the Sultan in the late 18th century. The Ottoman Empire was the only state then, which never recognized the partition of Poland although the Polish garrison led by Jean Sobieskiy prevented the Ottoman conquest of Vienna a century before. Adam Miskiewicz, a Polish diplomat and poet in the 19th century Ottoman İstanbul, knew all these realities and supported the full-fledged Turco-Polska alliance. So, we are happy to see that our cooperation is increasing again with the endeavors of Erdoğan and Duda leaderships now a-days. Thanks for this great video. The treaty with Poland actually left the Khotyn Castle to Ottomans and Poland was to pay annual tax to Ottomans and the teenage Sultan Osman II (Osman the young) seemingly returned to Istanbul with a victory. However he was disappointed with the elite Janissary corps and when he tried to abolish that unit, they rebelled, overthrown and later executed the Sultan.

This battle was never a defeat for the Ottomans. A treaty was requested and this treaty was in favor of the Ottomans. The only success of the Poles was to stop the Ottomans. However, the fortress of Khotyn was given to the Ottomans. Both sides declared Victory. The battle is unfinished and inconclusive. The reason for this was the janissaries who disobeyed Osman II and started looting while they where going to be victorious.

Poland was defeated in the war with Prussia, Austria and Russia in the early 1800s. Their lands are divided and occupied by these three countries. The Ottoman Empire opposes this occupation and sides with Poland. However, his power is not enough to stop and reverse this disintegration. He develops an attitude by using the tact of diplomacy to object to this. Ottoman sultans traditionally hold ceremonies to receive ambassadors in the country on various occasions. In those ceremonies, the Chief Chamberlain loudly introduces the ambassadors who will pay their respects to the sultan. “Ambassador of Russia, Ambassador of France, Ambassador of Austria…” The place where the Polish ambassador stands is always left empty. When it's his turn, the Chief Chamberlain shouts, "Is the Polish ambassador here?" Another official there again answers loudly, "The Polish ambassador is on his way, my sultan..." In this way, it is shown to the other states there that the occupation of Poland is not accepted and that it is believed that one day Poland will regain its independence and its ambassador will come here. This attitude continued for almost a hundred years and at every meeting, "Where is the Polish Ambassador?" was asked. When Poland gains independence, its ambassadors take their place in the protocol. In 2010, when Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski came to Turkey, he held a joint press conference with Ahmet Davutoğlu, who was the Minister of Foreign Affairs at that time. While starting this meeting, he says, "I can easily say that the Polish Ambassador has arrived today."
