I live in Syracuse and 13 years ago I just got sick of being buried with my Toro 824 so I called every Ariens dealer in Syracuse in the during the month of December. Was looking for a 28 inch Pro and non one had one nothing even close really, so I called Ariens corporation. A woman gave me a number to an Ariens dealer in Chicago (who wasn’t having a bad winter at that time) and I called them up. They had an oversupply of the 28s, sold me one for 400 bucks less than I would have paid for in Syracuse and shipped it to me for free, all I had to do was assemble it in my garage, greatest deal ever if you ask me. Great company who makes a great snowblower. It’s been destroying that Syracuse snow for 13 years and still going strong awesome machine. Love the channel use all of your tips to keep that machine in mint condition, thanks.

Congratulations! I know its a couple more bills but I highly highly recommend the cab. If operating commercially I would also recommend the sand bag to keep the front on the ground. I own a big Husqvarna much like this Ariens in size and power. Just so readers know the fun factor goes down a tad in these larger models - they kind of fight you sometimes so makes sure your power steering linkages are very well lubed cause the power steering sticking seems to be worse the bigger they get. Another thing about big snowblowers is they hold allot of snow - so expect big puddles in your garage after it warms up after clearing a big snow storm.

I am one of the insane. I purchased the Ariens Kraken (32" GFI) last year. Last winter was one of the easiest snow removal experiences I have had in many years. I live on a street corner where I have to clear the crosswalk access. The city plowmen love to push snow on that corner. I don't blame them... I would do the same. Ariens makes solid products. I may not have really needed a Kraken. But... I have no regrets after one season... Looking forward to this season. 😀

Hi from Upstate NY as well. I bought this exact unit, but 28" last year. I went carb as well. It is the absolute most beastly piece of powered equipment in my garage. The 420cc engine is unstoppable literally. Not even the end of the driveway slowed it down. Enjoy this Winter and don't worry about the gas tank, I do plenty of driveways with no concern.

I have to say that your method of on and off boarding that snowblower from your truck bed looked insane. If that thing weighs over 300 lbs I am going to say that could be a terrible accident waiting to happen if you have to move that thing with your truck during the winter. It also looked like some of the upper speeds are simply beyond the speed I can move down my driveway in the winter. Other than that, that is one impressive snowblower but I am sure it costs way more than I am will to spend at my age. I am sure you will enjoy that Ariens snowblower with all the power that it can deliver. Great video again JD. You take care and keep producing great content!

I am from Buffalo, Schaubs is not that far from me. Knowing the snow here sux, so I went with a better blower & got the 32' Kraken Rapid Track EFI. Best thing I like "so far", no snow yet: ~ There is no prime, no choke, no fuel shutoff. ~ Variable speed, rather notches, & can start at any engine throttle speed but I personally do not suggest. ~ Electric shoot, thumb controlled. ~ Rapid Track, I can put weight on the back & it won' tip back, it creates downward force when needed. ~ Way easier, feels safer, pulling it off the back of my truck. ~ Oh & one stupidass bright optional headlight.

I purchased the Ariens Kracken last fall. Now that’s a beast! All the bells and whistles. Then didn’t get much snow last winter. ☹️ Did get to use it a couple of times though but no deep snow. Those Ariens pros are definitely the best. And for anyone that doesn't need the larger bucket, the 28" will get you the most power to cut width. If I ever buy a new snowblower it would likely be the Platinum 24" SHO and I'd want the carb vs efi

Some people do not care for the auto turn, I almost bought one of these but the bad reviews of the auto turn feature kept me away, apparently when you get into the uneven bank at the end of the driveway it’s hard to control due to uneven pressure side to side , I’m excited to see a 1 year review on this
@smallblock412
@smallblock412 Жыл бұрын
The problem was caused by the wheel axle being too far back towards the handlebars which led to added down force on the bucket. Ariens corrected this problem on the Deluxe and Platinum machines several years ago now by moving the axle forward. The Pro machines never had this problem because they had the correct balance from the beginning. Adding a set of poly skids also further alleviates any issues.

@@GarageGear Once its in the chute I usually dont have a problem. (But I do plan to add the impeller kit for the distance.) What happens is we will get a foot of snow, then 3-4 inches of rain. The rain settles to the bottom creating 2-3" inches of slush. You have to remove it before it freezes and sets. Its like concert. When you go to slow it, the blower tends to ride over the slush, Im unable to push the blower back down enough to pick up the slush. At this point I take a scraper and scrap the entire driveway, then go over it again with the blower. In the 8 years I've owned Mine I have yet had to use the "unclogging tool." Im hoping, in theory at least, the RapidTrak series will do it all in one pass,

How'd that wheel hold up to the dishwasher??? Seriously, that's quite a beast. We moved down to Pensacola, Florida about five years ago so my wife could deal with her ailing father, but now that's not an issue so we're planning on moving back up to the Twin Cities, Minnesota. You folks in Buffalo seem to get the worst of it, but it can hit pretty hard in the Twin Cities, too. My younger brother swears by the Ariens EFI engines (he has a 24" EFI Ariens), but I'm less convinced. Got any words of wisdom about that EFI technology? Enquiring minds gotta know!
@GarageGear
@GarageGear 11 ай бұрын
Hey dj I purposely didn’t buy an efi because I read about WAY too many problems it on snowblower forums. Also I’ve spoken with shops about it and they don’t like it either. Too many repairs/ warranty issues. The old carburetor tech just works. I’m not sold on efi. Do yourself a favor and search efi problems in snowblower groups on Facebook. All kinds of stuff pops up. That wheel barely fit in the dishwasher lol!

@@GarageGear That's pretty much where I am. I got rid of a nice Toro when we moved away, but I'm pretty much sold on Ariens now (though I really like the trigger-based steering on that old Toro and my track-drive YardMachine before that, though they've gone to the auto-steering now, too). My biggest issue (and my brother's) is finding the room in the garage to keep the snowblower handy, which is why he has the 24" SHO model. We haven't found a new house yet but garage size is definitely a factor for me. We'll see how it goes. More power is definitely better, since I want a machine that can handle what I can't (or don't want to). Thanks for the speedy reply, and for all your informative and enjoyable videos!

Does anyone know how two Ariens Pro snowblowers with identical 420cc engines and same impeller can throw either 70 tons/h or 91 ton/h? In deep snow you can only take a 20 inch cut no matter what bucket width you have and only go at a specific speed right? And, the impeller can only be fed so much before it bogs. I don't understand how the same engine power and same impeller can throw different amounts just because the bucket is 28" or 32" or 36". You are limited by engine power/speed and impeller/housing limitations. If you increase impeller speed with different pulley sizes, you loose impeller torque(higher gearing). There must be an explanation some where. Thanks
@GarageGear

I imagine these numbers come in very specific situations. I guess the main idea here is that a wider intake can process more snow.

I added some rubber flaps on second stage and studded up Snow Hogs with ice studs. It's last generation but a Beast still today.Converted electric chute to manual crank because motor kept getting water in it. So I did some mods.Never have to lock the Diff because of studs thank God because she's heavy and hard to turn locked. Real Diff so studs does the trick

This is a awesome snowblower. Do you have any thoughts on 2 stage vs 3 stage snowblowers. I'm planning a new purchase and I'm seeing a lot of 3 stage blowers and they generally have the bigger engines. I know 3 stage throws farther. My municipality regularly throws a bank in my driveway that is up to mid thigh sometimes higher so I like a bigger machine to get through that mess. Thanks love the content K.
