Behaviour Modification With Luna #4 (Then & Now)

This video goes over Luna's assessment to the last session we had at the park in June 2014. The training used in all of Luna's rehabilitation is force free and stress free so that we don't create more negative associations around dogs.

Dixie my Aussie is very bad around other dogs, she still listens, but she freaks out while first approached, on leash she pulls growl-barks, and whines, I don't want her to care about dogs, cause she'll run or even jet after another dog the moment she sees it out of the blue. and I don't want her to get hit by a car if she decides to run after a dog across the street while a car is coming. its not a good thing and I want the problem to be fixed, do you have any advice.

Hello Kristin! My dog just hit 16 months and suddenly she is very afraid. Of everything. Every Thing. I think a little more afraid of when I am carrying things. Even her food bowl. She is an inside dog and has never been abused. Of course we are only sure after her 2nd month when she was found. Is this something that will go away when adolescence goes away? She is showing other signs of adolescence too but they are more manageable with treats. (Like forgetting things she already knows very well and running off to discover things but she comes back when called 17.5 times. :-) ) Thanks! I hope you can help!

+Dora S She is in her secondary fear imprint, this is normal, but the level of her fear sounds abnormal. I would check if she has an ear infection or UTI, some small underlining issue that may have quickly arose and causing her to be more sensitive. Often fears don't perk up out of absolutely nowhere after 6 months - 7 months old. I would consult with your vet for a check up and bring the issues to the table.

The Squishers I use almost anything. Because my dogs are fed a whole food diet (raw and cooked) I will use kibble to train because they never get it. But I also use cooked chicken, pepperoni sometimes as a high value, Zukes and Natural Balance Dog food Roll (but their new recipe is horrible compared to the old one over a year ago). Find what your dog goes nuts for, this can take time :)

Dorothy K I generally don't give advice for behaviour problems over the internet because I'm not there to actually assess the dog, environment or your handling skills so it makes it very difficult to know what's going on. I would highly recommend finding a local trainer or consultant through either of these sites to assist you APDT.com or IAABC.com
