Bending Physics: Nevera sets new Guinness World Records™ Title - 275.74 km/h in reverse!

In a year in which the Nevera has conquered every record in its path, there was only one direction left to go - backwards, and faster than anyone ever has before.
That’s right, the Nevera is now the official Guinness World Records™ title holder for the fastest speed in reverse, reaching an incredible 275.74 km/h (171.34 mph) - verified by Dewesoft - at the ATP proving ground in Papenburg, Germany, on October 7, 2023.
As the Nevera's drivetrain has no gears, its four individual motors generate immense acceleration whether travelling forwards or backwards, making the record speed possible.

Mine can go 60 mph in reverse as far as I know, I once found a perfect ultra wide road that is completely empty so I said this is my opportunity to try it, I think it was 25 mph before I checkend out and hit the brake, it was a nerve wrecking experience 😅😅 For the record: my car is ford fusion/mondeo 2013 hybrid

My old Volvo 340 had one of the DAF CVT gearboxes, which could (theoretically, at least) go as fast in reverse as it could going forward. Got it up to 45mph once, backwards in a field. Scared the shit out of me!

@@djlp87 Actually, that's the coolest feature of the Nevera that made this record feasible to attempt. Because they have 4 independent motors and such advanced stability control software, they probably just prototyped some extra stability algorithms for reverse mode, then updated the production software so that they could officially claim a production WR. It's also reasonably likely that they could dial down the steering response at higher reverse speeds. Some reviews mention that the steering rack has progressive weighting. If it's fully steer-by-wire, then they could definitely program in some driver assistance to make the car a lot less twitchy at high reverse speeds.

@@vuklovi2287 I'm aware thanks, Mate himself lists Elon as one of his main figures for inspiration and has done formal sit down interviews with Christian von koenesigg and other super hypercar industry big shots. Rimac reminds me the most of a none U.S. based tesla. Just like tesla they are doing stuff early on for others, started with a high end concept and do a LOT in house with not many resources. I'm looking forward to the next rimac hypercar(mate said he could've easily taken 400+kgs out of nevera knowing what he knows today. The next hybrid bugatti hypercar, and the mainstream collaboration stuff he can't tell us about but you know is coming. 👍🏻😎
