I'd like to see Ford bring the Tremor package back to the Ranger lineup, XLT Tremor with the 2.7 would be sweet.

The f150 feels really strong with this engine. Can’t imagine how good it would feel in the ranger.

The ranger isnt a whole lot lighter than the F150 unfortunately so I bet its only slightly quicker. Also, the Ranger does not have the same 10 speed transmission, it is the 10R60 instead of the 10R80. There may be a little more torque limiting going on in the Ranger.

@@Jay-me7gwFalse. 2019-2024 rangers all have 10r80’s. No different than the F-150’s or Mustangs. The 10r60 is in the Bronco Sport 2.3L models. Explorer 2.3L models. But the Rangers all have a 10r80. My 2019 Ranger has a transmission door sticker code U meaning a 10r80. Transmission code T on your door sticker will verify you have a 10r60.

@@daskies1116 Not false actually. The 2019-2023 might have had the 10R80 but the 2024+ has the 10R60 along with the Bronco. Also, even the Explorer ST uses the 10R60.

Ben, last week I picked up a XLT 4x4 FX Package in Cactus Gray. MSRP was 48k and got it for 44k. It does have the 2.7 liter motor. I’m pleased with my purchase!

Ben, you totally nailed this review. It's easy to comment on videos but with this topic I "put my money where my mouth is". Last week I bought a 2024 Ranger XLT FX4 for about $45,000. I had expected to get the 2.3 four-cylinder then the salesman came up with one equipped exactly as I wanted and it has the V6. Sold. The 2.3 engine is "fine", but the 2.7 V6 is great. I'm old-school and would have preferred a non-turbo naturally aspirated engine, in theory at least, but a test drive in the Nissan Frontier did not do it for me so I bought a Ranger. I love the 2.7 in this truck.

I've got the 2.3L coupled to a manual trans in my Bronco. I like the combo a lot, plenty of power for me, but I don't drive with a heavy foot. The people I see racing from one stoplight to another should get the 2.7L.

I just went from the 2.3l Ranger with a tune to the Ranger Raptor with a tune. Im surprised how quick that 2.3l was in comparison to the 3.0l TT.

Less weight. Raptor has a beefier frame and suspension to handle Baja stuff. Knobby off-road tires don't help with street acceleration either. I wish Ford would extend the ST line too their pickups. Ranger ST with the 3.0 lowered sporty suspension, big brakes, full time 4WD, and the rear torsen limited slip from the Explorer ST would rip.

Would be extra nice to have the 2.7L in an actual base model XL (no forced STX package) with an extended cab and 6 foot bed. I am completely fed up with extra electric crap forced on the buyers.

Ive owned Rangers over the past 30 years the 4 cylinders always lasted the longest 6cylinders always end up with head gasket repairs ect.... ill take the 4 cylinder

This V6 has nothing to do with the previous ranger V6's and this motor has been in the F150 since 2015 and head gaskets are not an issue.

Good comparison, both seem like solid engines, though personally I'd take the 2.7. The 2.3 definitely has its place though. One other reason though to get the 2.7 over the 3.0 in the raptor though(besides practicality with the Raptor), is cost. Raptor is $60K USD without markups. Personally I'd take an XLT with the 2.7, unless I find a used Lariat. $60K for a midsize truck is honestly laughable, and paying that much for it is honestly insane(not that the Raptor isn't a really cool truck), and that goes for any midsize. $53K for the Lariat with the 2.7 is better, but still definitely pushing it for a midsize, to put it lightly. Now granted, they're all expensive, period.

The 2.7 V6 is upgraded to 3.0 v6 in Australia. Its silky smooth & quiet in comparison to the 2.3 T or 2.3 TT as the gearbox becomes busier with the smaller engine. Being 10 speed , last thing you need is clunky gear changes

I've driven the 2.3 in a 24 Mustang. Its an unrefined, noisy almost rough engine. Sure its plenty powerful, but very truck like and not something I would want to have if I traded my F150 for a Ranger.

Looked at the ranger about 2 years ago. The frame is even worse than older rangers. Ford rangers have always been known for a crappy rust prone frame. I'm like ok, just get a new one, drown the frame and body in rust inhibitor and be done with it for a few years. Saw a 2022, Holly crap, they actually made it worse. Now it's boxed and the frame is made of 16ga sheet metal. 40 years they have been build this truck, and they never got it right. The old ones were absolutely weak with the underpowered 2.3 and yet fuel economy still sucked. 2.9 v6 was slightly better. The 4.0 v6 came out, now you got something to work with, then they went from a push rod engine to a ohc 4.0 v6. Garbage, 150k and needs a timing chain. Now Ford produces a much better riding ranger with a much more powerful engine. Fuel economy is still borderline, but now the frame is a joke. They start producing a ranger with a frame thats NOT sheet metal and ill gladly roll the dice and get the 2.7

I have to disagree...they made it look like a mini F150 and I think they did well. Models like the Ridgeline or even the Frontier look the worse in my opinion
