Many of them were among the fastest in their class though. Cars like the Integra Type R DC2 or EP3 held many track records in their class and to this day, Type R remains among the quickest. Take the FK8 for example, it got the Nurburgring track record back when it was new and even VW failed to beat it with their fancy AWD golfs. Just recently, Renault beat it with their super limited-edition Trophy R which probably costs alot more.

Honda should be completely embarrassed by the fact that the older car with a nearly 300 hp deficit runs a nearly equivalent lap-time. This is why I love cars engineered from the early 90s to mid 00s more than any other. It's the way they go about their business that matters the most, and modern cars are far too heavy and complicated to replicate that golden age.

@@Zygrene it's not even about commenting on dynamics, that show will focus the camera on the driver while he's driving fast on beautiful roads, comparing that to a real motoring show is seriously disrespectful. top gear is made for ALL people, they especially want to draw in people who don't even like cars. so there are (almost) more culture/traveling/comedy aspects to it than any driving, they use cars to get exposure for their comedy show, you simply must not compare some mainstream garbage like that to the best automotive content there is. besides the fact that both shows are entertaining they have very little in common. when children watch best motoring/hot version they will start to be interested in driving, when children watch top gear they want to become comedians and own cars as status symbols.

The 5 lap battle is disappointing. Seems the GTR covered the NSX just for it to not finish last. So many times it could have passed the NSX in the earlier laps. The NSX is so twitchy and unstable. The two cars are so much faster around the track
@NSXlover182 жыл бұрын
I'm glad you said this, because I was about to point out in detail every turn, every straight, and every sideline conversation where the GTR and the 911 could have passed. CLEARLY both cars were holding back until the very last lap. No way should they have even been that close (in that year), even around this circut. I didn't expect this kind of behavior after watching their previous battles in other vehicles. Now it makes me wonder...how many times have they done this??
@kunfupandarofl2 жыл бұрын
@@NSXlover18 From what I could see both Orida and Nobu spent the first few laps observing how the NSX runs, then tried to pass but realized how dangerous it would be to try to do it because of how twitchy and finicky it was, you try to pass during one of those twitches and there goes tens of thousands of dollars. The last lap looked more aggressive because they tried much harder to pass the NSX, but as you can see the NSX's electric motor helped pull it out of corners much faster than the other two. Essentially, just like how Orido and Nobu described it in the end, the 911 and GTR could very easily keep up with the NSX with a lot of room to spare, but both found it extremely hard to PASS it. Passing cars on its own can use a whole college thesis to explain, it's not just "a car should be faster, so it will win." At the end of the day, had they not done reverse pole (the fastest time attack car in the rear most position), the NSX would've been left in the dust by the other two, but since it was running in the front, the others simply had trouble passing it. It doesn't mean they didn't race fairly.

Thanks for the translation! I would be very curious to see if the same results held with all cars on the same tire. I could not tell which P-Zero model they swapped onto the NSX, but the Porsche at least may have been at a disadvantage with the GT-R having a very aggressive tire by comparison (?).

personally the a\Acura NSX from the 90's really is a master piece in Automotive Design as the engineers managed to integrated the very best aspect of the weight to ratio and they managed to get the most out of the engine so the driver can literally feel the power either where it really counts. This is what makes the car so agile as it goes into the corners and it exits on the med to high power range capable of taking on cars that have much more H.P. the new Acura NSX is not able to do so, clearly from the video we can see the deficiency of the new NSX. The sports mode although a more open throtle version of the engine has too many restrictions specifically with the braking in which when the car is going into the curve and power decreases the the braking is app lied automatically by the system with some slight delay and the tail swings out a bit. Is a shame because you would think Acura would have played their cards on the track properly to avoid this, they did it back in the 90's and the car clearly has stood the test of time.
@Harmonic143 жыл бұрын
The new NSX does pretty much everything better than the old one, but the performance standard and expectation has increased to the point where the new car isn't a front-runner in its class anymore.
