I really enjoyed this video. It brings back memories of those great old fragrances. I've always love Azzaro. About 30 years ago I bought a bottle of Safari. The one with the wooden cap. What great juice it was.

My favorite classic oakmoss is Aramis Aramis. Its my father's signature. It doesn't get talked much on youtube Fragcomm even though it has its own cult following on fragrantica.

I couldn’t agree more. I first started using Aramis way back in the mid 80s. It’s the one I’ve bought most of all my repeat fragrances. I still have an unopened bottle and 2 aftershaves.

Thanks for this video Max! Had been thinking about getting a bottle of RL Safari because I had a bottle back in early 2000s bit I was unaware of reformulation because of the Oakmoss ban! So I see your video then see a post in group for 2003 RL Safari Cosmair Edition 120ml for $50. Jumped on it! Otherwise I would have jyst got current formulation and been dissappounted with performance! So thank you once again Max!

Great episode! You know, I avoided these kinds of fragrances since a) they triggered an olfactory spaz-attached since I had perfume allergies for more than 25-years and b) they just smelled dated. I was so very wrong! It wasn't until the IFRA started banning Oakmoss and other natural substances out-of-existence that I started to search for these classics. Needless to say, I have most of the fragrances you mentioned: Antaeus is simply stunning and Patrick is outstanding too. I just wish that I could put my nose on Creed Original Tabarome. Regardless, some other Oakmoss scents worth checking-out are: (I still can't believe nobody talks about these) Balenciaga Ho Hang Club - stunning discontinued gem....get 'em now while they're still inexpensive. Maxim's pour Homme - another stuff for a reasonable price Francesco Smalto Smalto Pour Homme - fantastic Enjoyed.

Great review, Max and Georgio. I'm also a big fan of DV and have found some great vintage bottles recently - the oakmoss is amazing! I know there are 4 different bottles (presentation) of this fragrance, but do either of you know what the original DV bottle looked like at the time of it's launch in '85? I, for one, have never seen it and am dying of curiosity...

There was a time in my perfume journey that I seek out and found some of the rare and discontinued classics such as Davidoff for Men, Boss Sport (80's), Cartier Santos Sport, Van Gils pour Homme, Safari for Men "cosmair", old form of Monsieur Rochas, Comme des Garcons Classic, Alain Delon Iquitos, Paco Rabanne Eau Sport, Cristobal by Balenciaga, Boucheron Homme edp, Balenciaga pour Homme and more. These and your featured oak moss frags can match, even beat many hyped niche perfumes on quality and performance. Great video guys. I can't wait for part two. Chris of Scent Land, definitely, would be very happy with this video.

Good to know we share the same thoughts. I have read forums about a few frag heads who are questioning why the need to hunt down discontinued/rare classic scents when they are already gone in production, smells outdated and those that can be rarely found are being sold more than $100.00 a bottle. But they are not questioning the high end prices of current and not so current, niche and designer releases that by their scents, do not deserve the price tags. I say I buy those rare/discontinued frags because of the memories, respect for legends, the less synthetic quality compositions and the fantastic unique smell journey plus their performance that are better compared to many of the modern frags being featured at frag groups and forums. They do not know what they are missing and they only say that old school frags smells outdated because they are just limited to smelling the drugstore cheap classics and not the rare ones.

@@dashhill443 I used to buy them just at eBay. Years ago, these vintages/discontinued frags were not so rare and less expensive. Now, prices are crazy but they’re really high quality smell and the transformations re: stages of scents are noticeable.

I'd be happy if the fragrance companies sold splash bottles and advised us on how much oakmoss to drop in (provided we have no allergic issues etc....disclaimer stuff) I'd be more than happy to finish the job myself to get the fragrance as it should be

Alright Max important I Need Your Help: I'm finally going to pull the trigger on Aventus I don't care about fruity or Smokey but I do want it to preform at least 9- 10 hours and the 2018 batches are weak. This is my first bottle of aventus never even smelled it b4 I'm probably the only one and I have 50 frags in my collection... I know lol Can you help me?
