Yeah, Maxton Hall is set in England and was filmed in Germany, London, and Oxford! (I actually only live a 20 min drive away from the german castle that was used as the set for the MH college lol.) Everything except for spoken language is English. Istg the show could be _great_ if it weren't for the freaking romanticisation of that whole student teacher relationship storyline 😭 Afaik Lydia is 18 and the teacher is in his early/mid 20s, but it's still problematic af. I'm 23 and I certainly wouldn't date an 18 year old anymore atp, like ew

Yeah, someone else said that the student-teacher relationship thing is like a book plot point... I also agree that they could have just not done that and did something completely different and I would have greatly preferred that cuz yeah its ...gross.... Or if you absolutely HAVE to adapt that aspect don't make him HER teacher just have him be A teacher at the school.. so like it's still gross because of the age difference a little bit but it's not like illegal because of like conflict of interest type stuff.

What’s missing is actually how rich the Beauforts are- they are billionaires- and how protective they are of people who leach off their money and fame. Lydia had a relationship with someone who sold her out to the press at 15 and always looks for love in all the wrong places. James was just lashing out because of this and other problems they had with people using them all the time. Not an excuse to be such a dick, but it’s not meant to be his true nature. Ruby is the first person he met that wasn‘t interested in fame and fortune and showed him how to fight for what he wanted. ❤

Aaah, I enjoyed this a lot! I just love seeing people going from hating James to thirsting for him in two to three episodes. 🙈😅 And it’s funny you mention dramione because I started watching this solely because the trailer gave such dramione muggle AU vibes.. 😀 It did not disappoint, I love all the tropes, but they’re usually quite cringy on the screen. Thankfully, their chemistry was quite magical and the show is well done so I really liked it a lot. 😊

I think the teacher Lydia storyline should have been changed to something along the lines of: The teacher wants to quit the relationship with Lydia after being exposed, she starts out being sad wanting to be with the teacher still until she realises that she is better off not being with the teacher and meets someone her own age.

also i have read the books idk 5 years ago ( they are pretty good btw) and the first one has a different ending than the show but it makes a lot of sense why they changed it for the show, they probably just didnt know then if there would be a second season yet and had to make it kinda like an open ending just in case
