FYI: I saw another video wherein it cautioned that, when you clean the separate jets, you need to take care not to put too much pressure because each color has a bladder and if you damage it you are screwed.

I got your kit and extra solution. It is somewhat easy to do, but on my 8600, it was difficult to get the tube attached From another post, I used his waterpik method to pump the fluid on LOWEST setting. I have a 100* setting on my oven, so just dried it in there for a few hours. I do need a new printhead, but am glad I went thru these steps.

Have an HP 8600 that's been sitting around. Had filled the yellow ink at Cxxxxx, and the printer got pissed. Wouldn't work. Sat around for a while (yes, me, too), and I guess the ink dried a bit. Got the printhead cleaning kit, and followed this vid. Bingo. Thank you!

My HP 8600 All-in-One had an error message that said "There is a problem with the printer or ink system." Turning off-on had no effect, but your video fixed the problem! I removed the carriage and ran water through it (did not have any type of syringe or eye dropper; just running water and a small artist's brush). Then I blotted-it-dry with paper towels. Blotting it brought the excess ink through the carriage. Keep blotting until it don't blot no-mo! :-) Dab at the excess water in the unit by twisting the paper towel and dabbing into all the crevices. Put it back together and follow the prompts. In my case, it asked for ALL new ink cartridges. SUCCESS!! thanks for posting this video!

Additionally, this printer was purchased at a thrift store for ten bucks, and I've been using it for several years. I was willing to take the risk of completely ruining it, because it was "dead" anyway! :-) Works Great now!

Okay scratch my previous comment. This is crazy, but listen to this. I cleaned the print head like I mention previously and but in all new ink cartridges. It kept coming up with printer failure and the issue was the ink system. After several more cleanings and the same result, I got an idea. I took out the new ink cartridges, and put in just one of the old ink cartridges. The printer went back to the main menu screen, which it didn't before, and it saw the cartridge. Then I did that for the rest of the old cartridges, and each time it saw the one added. After I got all of the old ones installed, it went to the main menu, and I was able to print a perfect test page. Tried put ALL of the new ink cartridges in at once and it failed. So, I did the same thing with the new ones that I did with the old ones, one at a time. And now the printer is up and running. Craziest thing I have every seen! Why that worked I have no idea, but whatever....

What is the purpose of the film over the print head ink reservoirs that you are cleaning out (other than the obvious of retaining the ink)? I’m guessing this was HP´s answer to manufacturing a small reservoir. Does it serve any other purpose being a flexible film?

Thank you! Question - I had the print head out and there's an electronic board in back. I didn't see the back of your print head so I don't know if yours was the same. When I'm cleaning each jet, how do I keep the electronic board dry? Another video showed how to remove this board? I'd rather not do that. Can I put plastic over it to protect it?

I have this same printer. How did u not damage the chip on the back of the print head when u laid it in the container like that? The cleaner I bought mentioned soaking the print head for 8 hrs prior and to use caution the level wasn’t open high or it could damage the circuits if it got inside. In ur video you just laid it straight on its back right where the microchips are. How did u not damage them?

As long as it is dried off and allowed 24 hrs to dry totally, there will be no damage. i have done this many times.

If it is printing still, unplug it while it is printing a document and the printhead will be free for you to install the ink.

Sorry...i should have been specific. the Printhead Cleaning Kit link on Amazon says it's not compatible with these series of printers. "NOT COMPATIBLE WITH THE OFFICEJET PRO 8xxx SERIES e.g. 8600 NOT COMPATIBLE WITH PRINTERS THAT ACCEPT CARTRIDGES INTO THE FRONT OF THE PRINTER" Seems like a pretty universal solution so surprised it stats its not for front loading printers. Thank you for your video however. Very informative. Are there any micro components on the print head that can be damaged by handling? I know the ink cartridges are very sensitive.

The reason it is not compatible is the way the print-head is set up on the 8000 models. Your only real solution is buying new print-heads, or cleaning the current ones, which I dont have a video on yet. I have never damaged or had issues dealing with these print-heads so as long as you are being reasonable with your handling they should be fine.

You are in luck, HP Envys dont require printhead cleaning. The solution is easy, just purchase new ink.

I have bought from several different vendors on Ebay and never had a bit of trouble with their replacement cartridges, depending on your model number you may be having trouble because of HP's dynamic security measures implemented in the last couple of years , do a Google search on that and it will explain what they did and where to find the software on the HP site to bypass it.....

The reason I gave 4 stars for tech support (which I don't think this would classify as tech support) is because once you turn the printer on, it does require a little bit of start up time which may bother some who are in a hurry to quickly print something. To offset that though the printer prints very quickly. I would definitely purchase this printer again.

I used a motrin baby syringe and a solution of 50% vinegar and water and it worked like a charm
