I havent heard a squeak or a rattle from mine yet, and I thought I would care more about the lack of LSD, but the truth is I could care less. Having recently test drove the automatic and manual version of this car I will reiterate what the reviewer said, the manual is way way more fun to drive than the automatic. Also will mention the sound system with the built in subwoofers is one of the best I've heard in a car. A negative of the Civic it recommends premium gas. I'd easily pick this over the Civic because all the added features of the Kia AND you can't get the Civic for anything less than $5k over msrp around here! Also test drove much faster cars for the fun of it, but I always felt like that kind of power would only help on the track. I was always looking for speed limits signs, cops and unknowing slowing cars. SO the 200 hp 195 torque of the Kia is just right!

I’m actually loving it. I’ve been a multi-generation Mazda 3 owner and unfortunately they seem to be moving away from sporty performance to boring luxury. Just 2 questions for anyone who knows.. 1. Can you not ask for a switch of tires off the lot? I heard KIA does offer Michelin Pilot Sport tires for some of they’re vehicles. 2. Is there a way to reverse the manual shift controls? It seems to be in the wrong direction which is unfortunate for a nice dual clutch if you wanna use it like a proper sporty sequential.
@GTGarageTalk2 жыл бұрын
1. Yes. Either get the manual (which has PS4s standard) or you can opt for the better tires with the DCT. 2. Not that I am aware. It’s marked as such on the controls.

I can honestly say that I enjoy the hell out of the DCT with it's uninterrupted power delivery just seeming to rocket to 100. The manual is also just fine in these cars. The Elantra is a break from my 8th gen Si and sunny day only Procharged Challenger 6spd. I don't think the question is if it's better than the civic SI. Based on the price difference, the question is if the civic is $4k-$5k better than the Kia. Because in reality right now, that's the price difference (if not more). The obvious answer is NO, the civic SI is NOT $4k better than the Kia Forte GT. You can say what you want about the civics LSD, and probably superior manual transmission, all that isn't worth several thousand dollars. Base Kia Forte GT will save you at least $4k from the dealer marked up above MSRP Civic. In my opinion, this is an easy choice. (Unless you hate money, and/or are a Honda fanboy of course).

I was deciding between a used MK7 GTI and the kia forte gt. I ended up choosing the kia forte gt. It's a new car, you have factory warranty, the interior is nicer and obviously more modern to a used GTI and the performance between the two are very similar. I raced a stock MK7 GTI recently, I was able to beat it by a few cars. I do have a raceship and an intake though. I spent about $500 USD for those parts. I also upgraded the tires because the stock tires aren't going to cut it. It's also very hard to find a GTI that hasn't been molested. When I was looking for one, I found several that the mods it had previously were removed and the seller was trying to sell it as a stock car, which is fine, but the clutch usually gives on the cars onced tuned. Upgrading tires on that car is a must as well.

@@jbshp2011 They offer some of the best warranty of any car manufacturer. 5yr/60k warranty bumper-to-bumper and 10yr/100k powertrain to the original owner. I'd say they have a fair bit of confidence in their product to be offering that. My friend owns a Kia Niro (not the same, I know) but he drives an obscene 50k miles a year and, at 150k miles, hasn't had a single un-executed repair; just general maintenance. I'd agree with this being a contender to the civic Si if not for the Si actually producing around 220 wheel horsepower, also the lack of any type of limited slip diferential up front is going to make it difficult to put the power down through the corners like the Si can.

I've seen the dyno clip by Hondata that shows it's making 220 whp, which would put it at ~245 hp at the CRANK, no? Yet it seems either slower or not much faster than the 10th gen. I'll believe it is making 250 CRANK when we see some STOCK pulls in the 1/4 mi showing 99-100 mph trap speed...bc at 2950 lbs (and by including the weight of the driver) and 250 hp that's what it SHOULD be able to pull under some good conditions.

I own a 2005 Honda Civic and a 2013 Kia Optima sx turbo. My optima has had 2 engine swaps while my civic is going strong without any issue. Nothing has been repaired except for regular maintenance. That dual clutch might work fine for 5 to 6 years but in the 7th year I am sure it is going to blow up and take your hands with it. Now 2022 civic si is better period. Exterior wise it looks classy where as forte is shaped like an American football. Quality of interior is a step above in the civic and it’s actually rated at 220HP (Honda understated it). From my experience I’m pretty sure the fuel mileage in that forte is going to be below average regardless of what Kia claims. In Canada the si has way more features compared to what is offered in America so it is a no brainer as to what you should chose.

Guys there is a price for everything that dual clutch look into it. It is known to be unreliable in the long run. If someone is giving you value at a low price point more often than not reliability will be an issue. I loved my optima until last year when I started getting all these problems. Now don’t get me wrong I have lifetime power train warrant which is great. But it take anywhere from 6-12 weeks for an engine swap and having been through 2 of them back to back is a very frustrating experience. In the mean time my dusty old civic is there to pick up the pieces. Thank god I didn’t get rid of it.

Is resale value, tho the Kia may be a better bargain it doesn't hold a candle to a civic si in the resale market you kinda get what you pay for #2 . The aftermarket support. Honda pretty much sets those cars up so they can be modified and the aftermarket support for Hondas are out of this world and always has been for years. You have 10th gen civic si with 4-5 hundred horsepower. Unfortunately the Kia doesn't have the same level of support in this department
