After the TS his plot armor tripled lol just go with it. The dude is 1v1 hybrid kaido in base form. The war stopped making sense a long time ago. Climax of every arc is pretty shitty cause it’s written very plot convenient to favor the SH, obviously cause they are the MC. It will be the same for every arc forward.

Mother mode has an exception with kids who disagree with her. That's what youre basically saying. But she also has a flashback with Tama, which means it's not really a mode because it still needs an attachment of good deed from children. The *MODE* is meaningless. This mode is making the audience to really try hard in creating their head cannons.

Kaido is in the balcony with Momo. Chapter goes over their plan of New Onogashima, killing Orochi, and atating Kozuki also does not matter. Add on top of that, we have Chapter 999 (Viz pages 18-19) with Mama knowing for sure Kaido's plan to crush the zymbol3of the Kozuki. Apologies if your comment is regarding something else argument wise; however, it seemed you were noting Big Mom had no idea of the New Onigashima plan and/or Momo's condition.

Sometimes I feel like a reread of a few chapters together can give you a different perspective rather than reading it week to week

Until I reread the chapters you noted and then some, I could only think, "I could have sworn she was there," and started to think she was only there when Queen was calling on groups. As others have noted, killing Momo is in Big Mom's favor. Alliance wise, it will secure Wano as their staging ground. So, it makes sense for her to sit idle and let him bite the bullet. That being said, I think the issue is more with Mother Mode in general. Until now, it was never established to be a thing until Prometheus brings it up out of the blue. I think the closest we get are scenes of kid Pudding which even then has Big Mom telling her what to do as opposed to being truly motherly. Introducing/recontextualizing this as a mode sets a sour mood when, as KOL noted, Big Mom has governed many major Wano Arc events despite being the tertiary antagonist. Oda would have drawn less frustration with, "She likes people who feed her." Her Honor Code seems to be, if you feed me, you're cool and under my wing. Yet, with all her memories in tact of pre and during O-Lin, one would think she'd mention Okobure is off limits while Kaido is planning all this, and opens the door for the betrayal theme where Kaido destroys the town anyway or it is already destroyed and he omits to tell her. I honestly didn't think people thought less of her durability because she fell into the ocean, where she can't move might I add, and LIVE until I read comments under this video today. That's wild. @@NitenGale1 You seem to be implying the ocean is some kind of instant poison to devil fruit users but devil fruit users only get paralysed by the ocean, what kills them is drowing since they can't swim but I will say on further inspection her losing her memories was probably because she was drowning before she washed up on the shore. Also Kaido's the strongest creature in the world but the strongest doesn't meant the most tanky, Big Mom couldn't even be damaged by legendary giants back when she was still 5 and the only way they could think of killing her was during a convenient situation where she was weakened but in Wano just one defeat later and we learn how to damage Kaido. Oda was clearly going for BM and Kaido to have equal defence if not for BM's to look even better due to her having no scars.

I agree but in your opinion, what would add tension to this arc? I think Oda has wanted us to be really sympathetic to wanos situation and the scabbards/momo that we are generally already supposed to be tense by the whole situation. But I think the general consensus in the fanbase (at least English speaking) is that they care, but not to the point that it adds tension. For ex. Even if the scabbards die I probably wouldn't care but I imagine Oda intended for us to care.

I don't understand why Big Mom isn't just dealt with in Elbaf. It was already mentioned in the story that she is enemies with the giants. So Wa no Kuni just becomes unnecessarily complicated and characters who need screentime don't get it, because it has to be explained how the Big Mom pirates are written out of story because they cannot come up a waterfall. Just have Buggy and Mihawk have an alliance with Shanks and have them appear at the end of Elbaf. Luffy meets Shanks, Usopp meets Yassop, Zoro meets Mihawk and Buggy / Shanks fulfill the promise that they will one day visit Laugh Tale themselves.

But as far as the okubure town and pirate code, i think the idea IS for her "code" to be skewed when it comes to food. We already know her cravings and hunger affect her personality and mind. I dont know if its due to translation barrier or not but i think she was referring to her own personal code as a pirate. Not a universal pirate code in general. And in that moment when she attacked page one it wasnt a retaliation for what she just found out. It was the result of her getting riled up from the news and lashing out at page 1 simply becuz he was interfering at that moment. Until we get context of the next chapter all feelings and theories are just that. But i feel you!
