Viktor and I head to Tillamook, Oregon in the search of Steelhead! We meet up with the guys from Addicted Fishing at Big Dave's Fishing Lodge for 2 days of floating down the river! I cast hundreds of times before I finally catch my first steelhead! What an adrenaline rush! We save a couple to bring the fillets back to Florida! I do the same recipe as we had with Salmon while in Oregon; and my family loved it!

You can email those tag numbers to ODFW (Derek Wiley-Tillamook) and they can give you all the information on those fish. How big they were each year, how many years spawned, etc. cool stuff for a real fisherman/woman 😎

Come on Brooke, you can do it! YES….my girl is fresh, she did it. YAY!🎉🎉🎉🎉 I knew you had this. You ROCK Brookie. Oh how nice how they take care of the hatchery.Nothing like responsibility.😊 What an awesome experience. It’s almost like I was there with you. That’s what I love about you and Vik. Your videos give a FULL experience. Wonderful job on everyone’s part. I’m so used to Ocean and Bat fishing here on the West Coast of Florida that river fishing is so hard for me. I do realize that it’s 2 different types of fishing but I don’t get to fish on a river enough to really enjoy it. I am SO enjoying this, I really am. It’s also very nice to see you guys enjoying your best life.❤️ EVERY outing is an adventure, here in Florida or anywhere else you guys travel. Great recipe. Love when you guys cook. Tfs. Have a great day.🤗

Brooke,you did awesome, fishing so backwards from what you’re used to. Southern fishermen hold their rods up high. Northern fishermen put their rod tips in the water. Then, you had so much patience with that man working the dip net. I was sitting here,going oh, no! Not again! Catch the darn fish, already! Lol. Great video. That is some beautiful country.

I’m from Boise Idaho, Oregon is my next door neighbor! Love catching steelhead and they do taste sooo good! You need to come to Idaho and catch what I call the dinosaur of fish, a sturgeon!They get like 8-10 feet long and look prehistoric! They are soooo fun to catch on the river in the wild. Or there is Schwartz Sturgeon pond. A local guy who is so funny and kind who is one of very few to have a permit to be able to keep and raise these fish, he has a whole pond stocked full of 2-8 foot sturgeon. You just catch them non stop and it’s a freaking blast. He also can legally sell them to eat/cook. You can catch them in the wild here, but are not allowed to keep. You must release! So being able to buy one and cook it is pretty amazing! I really hope you come here one day and catch/eat some! A must do for die hard fisherman/woman! Once in a lifetime thing. Look up Schwartz Sturgeon Pond in Idaho!!

Really cool to see you both out in the fishery I grew up in. I’ve fished all over the world and can confidently say steelhead fishing is some of the most technical fishing on the planet, and you guys nailed it. It takes a huge effort to preserve the species and I’m stoked to see the addicted boys teaching PNW steelie etiquette.

It's technical because people make it that way. We catch tons with just a bobber and jig.
@shorecasted9295
@shorecasted9295 2 жыл бұрын
@@duckwacker8720 I just mean compared to most land based fishing in the US. For example even drifting bobbers you need to know where in the river the fish are, be able to read the river, know how to mend line which keeping enough tension to hook (usually all while barbless). I’m not saying it’s rocket science or anything since fish aren’t that smart in general but personally I can’t think of another type of freshwater fishery that’s “as” challenging.

Most ppl smoke steelhead into something we call fish candy because like you said doesn’t taste exactly like salmon but the fat content makes it a perfect fish for the smoker. After we smoke it we shred it up mix it cream cheese, maybe some chives and put it on a cracker. So delicious lol

For those of you from Florida watching this I just want to clarify that hatchery fish are not farmed fish. They are reared in a hatchery but released at a very young age usually in the smolt stage into rivers where they migrate out to sea and feed naturally for a few years before returning back to the river they were reared in
