Two things. If in PSU you wanna just swap the fuse, and not risk blowing it back again, you should connect it through the bulb. If short will be still there, the bulb will light up, if not short, a small blink will be seen and PSU will wake up, or, at least you can continue your diagnoses without worrying from now on. 2nd thing is that we should not just short capacitors IMHO. We should use something like a 3.3k ohm resistor to do it. Why is better? Google can answer if you're interested :). Yes, will be no spars, that's a good guess ;). And, thank you for the video, as always, good job!

I have a UN60Es8000 that has the same sound and backlight but no picture. I tried unplugging each of the 4 ribbon cables to the T Con board trying each by them selves, in pairs etc and I never got a picture. The T Con was receiving 12V and the fuse was good. I tested all of the output pins on the ribbon and one row all got 1.4V and the other 0.9V. On a whim, I replaced the T Con and ... It WORKED!!!. Save me from buying a +/- $4K QD-OLED. Thank you for posting your videos and giving me ways to check my TV. We still do 3D movie night and so this saved us from dropping that family event.

I am so thankful for this video and your honesty :-) At 19:00 into your video you discussed testing it before you put it back together. You explained how it grounded out the T-Con board. I did the EXACT same thing :-( I had it apart to re-glue some of the LED reflectors that had come off. I put most of it together and tested. That's when I only had backlights when it previously worked fine. Needless to say, I just ordered a T-con board. Hopefully this does it. Thanks for your help.

To find a short. With a good PS inject a volt or two into the short. Use a IR camera and find the hot spot which will be a bad semiconductor or cap. Keep current low. You can spray the board with cold frost spray and the shorted hot area will melt fast. Pick up a cheap IR camera on eBay and hook it to your PC. If you can't find the short turn up current to 5 amps and if no short found go higher. Keep voltage way below the circuit voltage that is usually there.

Bigdog, some advice if you dont mind? I have a UE48HU7505T, it has the same issues as above, the fuse on the T-Com is fine, the test points on the input ribbon from the main board is showing 0.52v or 0 on a lot of them, i cant turn the unit off, would this be an indicator that its actually the mainboard and not the T-Con? i have 12v 18v and 5v coming from the power board into the Mainboard, no chips on the main are very hot so i dont suspect a short. As there are only 3 boards on the TV (not including the driver boards on the panel) would it be worth replacing the Mainboard?
@bigdog88824 жыл бұрын
If the tv has no functions. Yeah I would suspect Main Issue.

@@bigdog8882 Quick up date on this, traced the issue to the 41pin cable connector coming into the T-Con board, one of the flat ribbon traces that goes into the connector on the T-Con board, had lifted and was shorting itself on the pin directly next to it. this was giving me low 0.91v on the 1.2v VCC TP on both halves of the board, replacement cable and the screen sprang into life. it gets white when I disconnect the ribbon.. but no picture is displayed. by the way, it`s not karla watching.. it`s her boyfriend.. I have just started working as an electronic technician and I am already coming across some challenges here. I could find the repair and service manual for this sony bravia lcd tv, but it only helped on identifying the flash troubleshooting and the VCCs out of the PS.. back on the backlight.. sometimes it doesnt turn on... it seems like the main board is also malfunctioning.. as for the t-com, when I checked the fuse in it, I got the 12v and the other pins also have low voltages.. that`s why I think it`s not the t-com... I don`t quite understand the concept of lcd panel... could it be cracked or you are talking about the board inside of it ?

I have a LG 43UF770V and it has no picture, no sound, but the backlights turn on. I replaced the T-Con board but, didin't change the result. I then baked the motherboard (or main board) for 11 min for a reflow but, that also didn't change much. Before I did all that I noticed that there were some negative voltage readings on the right hand side of the T-Con board and wondered if it was normal to have the ground lead on the chassis but have positive readings on the left but, negative readings on the right (on the T-Con Board). I did not reverse the polarity.
@bigdog88827 жыл бұрын
Yes, thats ok because the t-con uses a differential signal. One goes positive, one goes negative.

Just unplug the ribbon connectors going from t-con to panel ONE at a time and see if half the display comes up. If it does then you got a bad panel. However if you replaced t-con and main, Ur panel is probably bad anyway.
