I had a first gen Street Triple for a few years. I quite liked the bike but ultimately I tired of the somewhat aggressive egos (I got old). Before that I had a RS955 Sprint, a great mile muncher that could get up and go. Oddly the engines were almost identical in power from the low to high range. The Sprint weighed 70 pounds more but it also was a more comfy bike. I never noticed any untoward engine vibs with either bike. I'd cruise the RS at 90-95mph for hours.

In 2015 the 675cc Street Triple RX with 106ps cost $11,199. Here we are 8 years later and the higher spec, higher power 765cc Street Triple R costs $9,999... Bargain of the century !!!

And then there is the Duke 790 which is 9,200 or 9,950 with the tech pack. Or in other countries you have the 890 which is about equivalent price to the triumph.

Hey Eric. 1st: I like you Videos and Reviews a lot. They are informative and entertaining, thx for that! Aboout the Street Triple R 2023/2024 I have to send my 10 cents about some small details. I am an owner of a Triple R 2020 and I do know these bikes very very good, including all details and changes and differences in the model-years but also differences between R and RS which are not so easy to find just in the specs. A) The breaks of the Triple R are SUPER . They are Brembo M4.32 - the same breaks are mounted on the Ducati Streefigher V2 and Panigale V2 (bikes with 155 HP and $18k+ price) - so believe me, they are "top". I dont know any bike in this 10k price range with such good brakes. Anything with M50 or Stylema Brembos is $12k and or way more. B) Yes even I as not top racer can feel the improvment of the breaks Triple R to Tripls RS (which has Brembo Stylema). On my experience this is a little more because of the phantastic master cylinder of Brembo MCS (with adjustable ratio 19-21- not just the reach) on the Triple RS. C) The front suspension on the Triple R: Showa Big Pistion SFF (sepearte function fork) same as the Showa rear shock are both great/good. If have been test riding R vs RS so often - i would say for the normal road ride the Triple R suspension is even "better". Better in mean, its more plush while still good and sporty enough. For the race track the Ölins rear shock is for sure better, but its not so easy to set it up plushy for the comfortable road ride. The forks are named both "Showa big piston", but there are not the same. The Triple R has the SFF (seperate function fork version), the RS the one with the same equipment in both fork legs. Its most likely a little better, but i couldnt feel the difference. D) So you calling the breaks and suspension of the Triple R okay but just not top notch ist not 100% fair. Sure looking with $15 to $20k priced bikes (supersport, any naked $13k++ etc.) its not top notch. But for the price the equipment is not only good, its top notch! So many bikes from $8k to $12k get crappier brakes from the factory setup ;-). E) The quick shifter on the 2020/2021 Triples is already VERY GOOD. But with 2023/24 it got even smoother - and its not a 2% difference, its easy feelable in direct comparison. The shifting is very very very smooth with the 2023 quickshifter. F) Not easy to see, but its said the Triple RS TFT cockpit display got an resolution uograde (high-res), for crisper graphics. G) The Triple RS cockpit / TFT display has a problem since 2020, and its not fixed in 2023: The rev-count display is CRAP. You can change between 4-5 different view-modes, but any of those doesnt give you a quick view how your revs are. Its just too pseudo futuristic to be good. Many riders complain and hope for an update (back to the 2017-2019 looks), but it hasnt come yet. The H) The 2023 Triple R cockpit display (same as Tiger Sport 660 as you already said) may be not so nice from the first looks perspective (i do agree on this taste question). Function wise its good, and rev-counter is better to see then on the RS. My 2020 Triple R has the "old school" mixed analog rev-counter + b/w LCD. When i bought the bike I was a little sad about this disadvantage to the RS - nowadays it has grown on me and i like my old school display a lot. Looking forward to your full review in the Triple R and RS.

Hi, since you are so knowledgeable about these bikes, i thought maybe you have an answer to a thing i was wondering about. Am i understanding correctly, that the bike in the vid is a 2024 model, and that its cheaper than the current 2023 model? I visited a dealer and he told me they dont have info on the 2024 bikes until november... but apparently people already have them? I was considering getting a Street triple 765, but if theres gonna be a cheaper model for next year maybe i can wait until then.

I bought this exact bike, same spec/color/everything, back at the very end of May. I've just barely put over 1k miles on it as of today. I had been riding my 17 Africa twin the past two years and, yes, the ergos on the street triple are much sportier. I'm 6'3" and don't find it to be particularly cramped though. Maybe if you ride for more than a few hours it would be an issue, but thus far I've had no issues with the ergos - it's just way sportier than an adv bike. Like Ian mentioned, when riding normally, I can't see the dashboard at all without physically looking down with my head. When you're in the zone on the twisties it's awesome because you just feel like you're flying with no distractions. If you're in town trying to mind your speed, check if your turn signal's on, etc, it can be a little annoying. It is what it is. That being said I love the bike so far. Depending on what you're looking for, it offers the best value for your $ on the market today imo

How many sales would Triumph have if they switched up the headlights? That seems to be the most common and easily fixed 'flaw' of the bike. But again, it does keep people talking about the bike, maybe Marketing is onto something.

Looking forward to the RS review. I also own an MT09SP and have ordered an RS for all the reasons you mentioned here. I don't think that either bikes are better or worse, they just have different characters. We just have to be honest with ourselves and see what type of enjoyment we get from our bikes and chose one over the other based on that. I love my SP and wish I had the funds and garage space to keep it as well. That Torque is addictive.

Great bike but the smaller gas tank capacity and no wind protection makes me stay away. Limited option motorcycle. I would like to see a true 765RS sport/touring version with longer fuel range and wind protection more like a Tiger 660. That bike would be in my garage and a big seller for Triumph IMO.

Couldn't agree more in the VFM front. My RS has Ohlins and Brembo Stylema as standard, and I've fitted heated grips and cruise control as convenient options. IMHO, after owning 40 bikes, II feel that it's the best motorcycle Triumph has ever made. Period.

Ian, I believe you are the first reviewer (that I'm aware of) that addresses the bar (and peg, but especially the bar) vibration at higher rpms and speed. Having the previous '21 RS and now the '24 R, I was surprised by the level of buzziness coming through the handlebar (more on the right side, for my bike). I didn't find this to be an issue with my '21 RS. Surprisingly, I get some vibration in the left mirror but the right mirror stays clear at higher speed/rpm. I wonder how much the Euro 5 lean fueling may contribute to vibration? I will be adding bar weights to address it in the meantime. I'm so glad you made the point on pricing as strongly as you did. I get the mountain bike pricing comparison....in my case, for road bicycles. I've recently been looking at higher end electric standup scooters and ebikes....the cost and build levels of those compared to how much one gets in an ICE motorcycle makes one pause. I had a choice between a Cosmic Red RS and the Crystal White R at my dealer. I do have some regrets not going with the RS since I previously had the '21 RS. The one I didn't expect was brake feel. I miss the upgraded levers (including clutch) and the Brembo master cylinder. Looking forward to your full review.

@@rdavidsen7344, another thing you could look into is Grip-puppies. These are foam tubes that fit over the grips. It's not for everybody as the grips get a bit thicker by a few mms but I got used to them and have since fitted them to all my bikes.

I have a 2024 RS and the vibration is minimal. However on 2024 models they lowered the gearing a lot. 2023s had 16 and 46 tooth sprockets. The 2024s Have 15 and 48 tooth sprockets this is a huge change and accounts for a bit of the vibration increase.I think a 46 tooth rear sprocket would have been more ideal with the new 15 tooth counter shaft sprocket. Am I going to change it probably not! On most of my bikes I put 2 wraps of tennis racket tap around the handle bars and clamp then back down. it helps with the vibration. I did order small bar end wights but have nor received then yet. I have a KTM 890 Duke R and have had a number of problems with the TFC and the cruise control. I have cruise on the RS and added the factory two piece color matching fly screen. It comes up about 2" above the display and looks great. I hate that the RS has no usable tach on any of the display choices!

For some reason maybe because where I ride? I cant warm up to mid size displacment, And I know it is not a race it is public highway but it just SEEMS like to me that the 650/750ish twins no matter how sporty are just a little bit lacking, On my Yamaha old man bike Tracer 9gt even I find myself mostly leaving these type bikes behind ....well generally anyway but maybe it is just my luck to not be running into those with more skill idk, I just gravitated away from desiring such and wound up buying instead an MT-10 idk maybe I made a mistake? Sure does not feel like it so far! In car terms this bike feels more like a high end powerful sports car where the 660 765 twins seem more like a Miata (dont get me wrong I love Miatas!) Like I say maybe it is because where I mostly ride that something with serious torque and power just has such an advantage idk ...certainly in the tight downhill sections I think the smaller twins could have a clear advantage being significantly lighter and more nimble ...idk though I just feel like the liter torque the POWER is too intoxicating to give up for just that? This new MT-10 though is my first liter bike added it alongside of my Tracer 9gt so maybe I will change my mind after a bit? Which is one reason I went for the cheaper of the liter naked bikes at just over 15k Out the door I feel like I wont get killed enormously on resle if I decide to go smaller. I will say I HATE the lack of fuel range on this MT-10....but it just feels SO good! SO capable! So RIGHT!

I cant help but imagine the redesign's focus was more on making it cheaper than better...just a guess but I suppose we'd have to hear someone do a back to back to comparison hopefully someone who has a bunch of miles under their belt with the last generation? Why is that important? Well as one thinking of buying a 765 do I want the 2024? Or a nice clean used last gen example? Is the 6 axis IMU that big a selling point? (Im assuming the old gen lacked that?) Either way I have to ride one first to be sure I wont miss the mid range torque of the Yamaha 09...which I already own in the guise of Tracer 9gt...my present canyon bike is a 23 MT-10 lol which is a bit over the top for me even though I NEEDED to own at least one whacko liter bike before I get too old to ride! Anyone in San Diego area want to buy a clean low mile MT-10? lol

I had a Striple 675R and loved it, but the first iteration of the 765 updates didn't grab me (the price increase didn't help either). I think they've done a good job bringing the Street Triple back to what it's supposed to be. Currently on a Tracer 900 and you feel the Yamaha jankiness all over the bike. My Triumph exuded quality, something I miss. Two questions: how was the quickshifter? And what tires does it come with stock?

The point of the critics seems to be that you do not have an option to buy cheap AND strong bikes. I agree that you get a lot of electronics for your money however if it makes more than half of the cost of the whole bike you might not be happy. The fact that you have got the same situation in the automotive industry does not change the initial point at all.

I own an MT09SP and I do think there is a difference. The Yamahas have a different induction noise, the whine from the engine is similar but there is also a whistle on the Triumph which may either make you like it more for it or hate it. My SP has a similar whistle when its in 6th gear. I hated at first but grew to like it.

I understand what you're saying but maybe it's all a mind thing. The analog clocks do the job and are clear to read. Nothing wrong with them actually.

Firstly that bike would be more than enough for 99% of Joe public. Secondly when the CB750 first came out they were worth a years wages and even though I wish I still had my K5 the reality is they were a heavy old dog. With a years wages I could buy 3 765s here in NZ. And they would run rings around my old K5.

No cruise control is a downside for the model. A bigger anomaly on the Tiger Sport 660 true, but still an odd decision Triumph has made for marketing positioning which just doesn’t sit right given how ubiquitous the option has become in this tier of motorcycles. It will keep me from these offerings from Triumph. The larger “Adventure” pattern Tigers need a 17” front wheel sport touring focused alternative, BMW has the F900XR, I want to see a Triumph that fits that form factor design.

Sort of Brilliant that Triumph made these 765cc rather than a750 so in ones head you are thinking more of the original 675 bikes rather than immediately thinking for example Gixxer 750 etc... because really a 765 IS pretty much a 750 (what is 15cc anyway?) even though not an 150hp inline 4 which for some reason you dont feel the need to compare it to?? LOL mean but why not? Same weight, right? You get more power and get a fairing for less money if what you REALLY drooled for was 765 Moto2 version... super hard to even find bikes I imagine?

Yet another 10,000 bike without even the option for a CC paid upgrade, unless you pay for the more expensive version. About a year ago, I sent an email to Triumph UK, their main office, to complain about the lack of CC of the 660, and they told me it's not necessary to the rider experience and most riders "manage to live without it", so basically they told me I'm wrong in a crude, areogant way.

This dashboard is better than the one on the RS, which is particularly badly designed. Problem I have with most Triumphs is that most of their bikes are not made for tall people, exception of course the Scrambler’s and the adv bikes.

Not to worry, this is not the out-the-door price in the US. Many states have sales tax which will add almost a grand to this price, then there are dealer setup fees that many add on. By the time you are done, the OTD price is probably close to the UK price.

My experience with Teslas on twisty roads is more often not getting stuck behind them (in my Miata not of course my bikes) It seems like too many tesla drivers are going soooo slow not sure why? Maybe they are trying to save the planet? lol maybe there is some mode in them to maximize range? Or MAYBE they are just trying to wring too many miles out of their last charge? idk but I have cursed Teslas several times in the same way folks cursed VW vans back in the day (The VeeDub boxers were SOOO underpowered to begin with in the bugs but then in the heavier vans with any kind of heavy payload? On mountain roads? lol they ought to have been BANNED! Tesla drivers have reminded me of that too many times now! IDK maybe I am just super unlucky..but my wife says the same thing so I doubt that

Öhlins is pronounced; ö as the first vowel uttered in "earn", before the 'r' comes in. A very quick ö. The 'h' is silent because it's just a name right. The -lins part is almost exacly pronounced as "leans", but a shallower 'L' if that makes sense. Just say it quick, öhlins. It's not complicated.

Completely new motorcycle with... Same frame as 2022, same fork, same shock. The only difference is euro5 exhaust, spacer in rs model, new calipers and imu with cruise control and a few horsepower. Not saying its not enough, or not welcome additions, but calling it completely new is a stretch.

Bikes have become better value over time, but the economy in general is awful. I'd argue the inflation basket has become divorced from practical purpose, meaning the % of a median person's income a $10000 (in constant dollars) bike costs after required-expenses (e.g. housing/food/insurance/etc.) has actually gotten worse over time. I'm in my mid-20s, and while this bike costs a month of my pre-tax income, that ends up being quite the expense given the rest of life's responsibilities (looking at you, rent). Regardless, I'm set on buying one in a few weeks.

The bike really is not under 10 grand when the delivery fee and dealer prep are added in 'after' the asking price... that's just a scam, just like the 'doc fees', which are hundreds of dollars more than what it costs to do outside of the dealership. All of it is a scam.
