When I was about 8 years old, my dad took the family to a vacation in Southern California. The highlight was of course Disneyland but an unexpected treat and surprise was a visit to Skipper Alan Hale's Lobster Barrel. I had no idea that the Skipper Alan Hale was THE SKIPPER. He came over to our table, greeted us and gave us his autograph. It was a thrill and he was so nice unlike some other celebrity types I've met. I don't remember much about the restaurant but I'll never forget meeting the Skipper.

I love stories like this. He made so many fans days by going out of his way to interact with them. I’m envious of you and them it would’ve been great to meet the Skipper

I certainly agree with the great words about Alan Hale,I must tell you a story years ago I wanted to go To Hollywood after I got out of High School and some friends and I went to California and we went to The Lobster Barrell which was owned by Alan Hale Jr..When we walked in the place I saw Alan standing over to the one side of the place I was stunned and frozen I could not go over to him.One of my friends went over and told him and Alan came over and gave me a big hug and took pictures with me.

I gotta say. I loved seeing Alan Hale, but this was such a hype up for a small interview, I would have wanted to see more.

What a class guy he was and when I look at the pictures of him and I ,I just think how proud his parents would have been to see the way he treated people when he met the.I dont think there has ever been a character on TV so closely related to their character as Alan was with The Skipper they were truely one and the same.

Holy three hour tour, Batman! Alan Hale has the same warm, happy, gregarious personality as the part he played in Gilligan's Island! I only wish this clip wasn't so short. He was probably the most beloved character from the series.

Al Hale grew up in the business, and Sherwood Schwartz had known him for years. Mr. Schwartz based the character of the Skipper off of his friendship with Alan Hale, so in terns of personality and character development, Alan Hale and the Skipper had much in common. From what I've heard and read, Alan Hale was a truly genuine and affable man.

How great it is to be remembered as a great and wonderful person and to be as good or even better a person in real life as his character was.

This Interview is at Alan Hale's restaurant called "Skipper's" that used to be on La Cienega Blvd in Hollywood. By the time I started hanging out in underage Clubs like The Odyssey on Beverly Blvd in the 80s, Skipper's had closed but I remember seeing the worn down Skipper's sign before they re-did the building that his restaurant was in. I remember being a little sad that I never got to go in and try the food, which I later found out that everyone said it was excellent. He seemed like such a good guy!

I had a friend who worked in the building around 1991 to 1992 when it became a sports bar called Double Play. It didn't last long, but I played Foosball there with Matthew Perry a few times.

I was right, you know, saying that there never was a Gilligan's Planet comic book series. Since most people even today aren't in favor of this thing. Even though the Gilligan's Island comedy series is known worldwide. 😒

Alan Hale Jr was just a great guy. The type who'd slap you on the back, give you a bear hug and just make you feel so happy. He'd give you the shirt off his back and the hat off his head. I cried when he died.

I agree with others that have posted here. Such a short interview. The man asked him only one question! Alan Hale did look genuinely warm and easy to talk to . Wish there would have been more.

Curiously, this was filmed next door at Cugat's. There was no patio at Hale's place. He was always a nice guy. I lived just up the street from him for over 10 years.

I love Alan Hale, Jr., but am very disappointed in the interview. The first 1/4 of the video was the host giving a long-winded intro. The interview with Mr. Hale was extremely short. It's a shame there wasn't more time given to this wonderful, kind man.

No. I haven't told Alan Hale Jr. that the South Park series stages a direct attack/assault on Christianity. Caring about the truth and fighting for the truth is everything. 💯 🙌 ✨️ 🙏 👌 ❤️ 💯

Alan Hale starts speaking at the 1:56 mark and stops speaking less than two minutes later. The majority of the clip is Bill Holly's fluff and love of his own voice. What a waste.

I hoped for so much more. Around 1:40 of a 4:27 clip is intro/outro. Very disappointed that he could only get Alan Hale Jr. for less than three minutes.
