I remember watching this at the beginning of my weight loss journey almost a year ago now. I started out at 273lbs, Now I fluctuate between 168lbs and 172lbs. Weight loss is tough, But if you stick with it you will get into a routine, And you will reach your goals
@MsTriggaTre3 жыл бұрын
How the hell did you do it ??? I am at 275 and I am about to start mine… but damn I hate running. What did you do? How did you eat ?
@lewis82003 жыл бұрын
@@MsTriggaTre you’ve gotta find a form of exercising that you enjoy doing, I cycled and walked, But if gyms were open at the time I would’ve done JiuJitsu. Exercising is hard at first, But after a few weeks your body will get used to it and you’ll start to really love it, Runners high is insane and exercise is something you’ll be looking forward to. When it comes to eating you don’t need any kind of diet, You just need to eat less calories than you burn. There’s calculators online that you can use to calculate your daily calorie needs, Eat 500-1000 calories less than that for a week and then weigh yourself, If you’ve lost weight then keep going, If you haven’t then you need to adjust. When you counting calories you need to count everything, A serving of Mayo is 100 calories, That’s a ton of calories and if you don’t count it then it’ll add up to insane amounts. You can eat whatever you want as long as you stay under your calorie allowance, But I suggest you try to eat healthily. You should try bulk eating too, That just means eating foods that aren’t very calorie dense, A handful of almonds is 161 calories, Or you can have 3 small apples for 160 calories. There’s some good low calorie frozen meals that you can get, They’re below 400 calories and they taste pretty good. The biggest thing is consistency, You need to stick with it, Eventually you’ll get there. I will sag that the first 3 weeks to a month are the hardest, But once you get going it becomes a lot easier. Good luck mate! Let me know if you need any advice or anything
@MsTriggaTre3 жыл бұрын
@@lewis8200 First off I wanna say, I dont know you but you seem like a stand up lad. Thank you for taking the time to even answer me. JiuJitsu must've been amazing for you, I used to wrestle in high school and was really good at it so maybe a combat gym could be the move. I wrestled at 180 so that was many lbs ago lol. Here are my questions to you. -You walked??? How long did you walk for and how many times a week? i am definitely going to try the walking and biking route. -Did you find biking better than running? Try and think back to when you were 250+, was biking something that felt better than running to you? -I am eating healthy, pretty much just greens and protein (meat, fish etc...) When you say eat 500-1000 calories, did you mean 500-1000 a day? Again Lewis, you seem like a great guy and I am genuinely grateful for your time. Cheers brother
@lewis82003 жыл бұрын
@@MsTriggaTre Hey man, No problem! I think it's great that you're trying to improve yourself. JiuJitsu was awesome for me, Combat sports are one of my favourite things on the planet, So it's pretty much the perfect exercise for me. Wrestling is really good for losing weight because you're training your entire body, It's a good mix of cardio and resistance training, The workouts are intense so you burn a lot of calories, And you learn some great techniques if you ever need to protect yourself. If you enjoy combat sports, Then I'd 100% recommend wrestling, I would be wrestling too but there's no gyms near me that teach it. I would walk for about 40 minutes everyday and I'd end up walking between 4km and 5km, Walking is great because it's very low impact and doesn't cause you to get discouraged when you're first starting out. I mostly walked for health reasons though, Rather than using it to burn tons of calories. For me personally I'm not a very big fan of running, I could probably get into it if I really pushed myself, But I pretty much hate it lol. Indoor cycling was my main way to burn calories but when I was younger I lost 70 pounds, And to do that I used an elliptical machine. It's about finding a style of exercise that you enjoy, I'm not a fan of running, But I enjoyed cycling, So I managed to stick to a regiment a lot easier because I didn't hate the style of exercise I was doing. I also used to walk up and down the stairs, I started off at either 10 for 15 climbs a day, And managed to increase it up to 30, I did this to strengthen my legs and build stamina for combat sports. The final thing I was was work on a heavy bag, I wanted to keep up my martial arts training for when gyms reopen. I meant to say eat 500-1000 calories less than your maintenance calories. You need to burn 3500 calories to burn a pound of fat, So burning 500-1000 calories a day will make you lose around 1-2 pounds of fat a week. It sounds very slow, But anything more than 2 pounds a week is considered fast weight loss, And I wouldn't recommend it. An average man needs around 2000-2500 calories a day, I'd say start off with 1500-1700 calories + exercise and see how much weight you lose, Then adjust it to meet your goals. A good technique I used sometimes was looking at your calories as a weekly thing rather than a daily thing. Lets say you really like pizza and still want to eat it, For 6 days of the week you could eat 200 less calories, So instead of 1500 calories a day you could eat 1300, Then on day 7 you can eat your 1500 calories + the 200 calories from each day that you saved, That's 2700 calories, Which is more than enough for some junk food. At the end of the week you still ate the same amount of calories, You just ate them in a different order. You don't need any kind of diet either, You can use one if you want but they're not anymore effective, Losing weight comes down to calories in and calories out. The biggest piece of advice I can give you is to do a ton of research, It's really useful to know how to lose weight and how to go about it safely. Best of luck to you man, Let me know if there's anything else you want to know! Hit me up at some point and let me know how it went :)

No, I'll fast or pick something better." The opposing mindset I see destroy people is work entitlement, "Hey, I just burned 900 calories, so it's ok if I have this thing that's terrible for me and 800 calories, I earned it". NO! The only time I tend to do that anymore is I will allow myself a full-sugar non-diet Dr Pepper 20oz bottle as a victory treat after a competitive 5K event.

Now, how many people would dare to go out for a run at 2 am? 2- Sometimes I can't go for a run outside because of bad weather...this is a problem I wouldn't have if I owned a treadmill. 3- Treadmills allows me to adjust the speed. 4- Treadmills allow me to adjust the inclination level. 5 Sometimes I run when it's hot outside and obviously I end up sweating a lot and I often wish I could take my tshirt off during my runs however I don't do it because of shyness... Seriously though. I almost turned anorexic because no matter how much weight i lost i never was happy with my physique. Every time i looked in the mirror i looked fat to myself. Everyone else around me was telling me i needed to eat more but i kept eating minimally. Eventually i stopped caring, gained roughly 50 lbs from overeating and now im right back here lol. But i wanna do it healthy this time. Part of the reason i thought i looked fat is because even though i was skinny i had virtually no muscle which made my chest sag and my stomach undefined. So if i exercise and work on building muscle ill be much happier.

Great work. Keep it up. By the way, would you be so kind to let me know how fast you ran? Did you do it all in one go? And how much weight have you lost?
@scratchy9962 жыл бұрын
@@foreveroralone Weight loss is 85% diet, 15% workout. You can't outrun or out-train a bad diet. That being said, the 15% add up and they are good for the body and mind. I needed to cut down on weight several times during the last 20 years, I learned a lot, and I helped others do it. You have to consider that everyone is different, but what worked best for me was the 16/8 intermittent fasting ( it sounds scary, but you get used to it quite easily) and high intensity interval training (HIIT) combined with weight training , but that's because I was already doing sports. If you are a beginner, you should start with walking, 10k steps a day. Each day you go for a shorter time. When the 10k steps become too easy, you start a 5k run. If you can't run 5k, you run as long as you can, then you alternate with walking, then run again until you can run 5k in one go. Then you start to improve your 5k time. Optimal would be alternate days of weight training and cardio , but no matter what training you decide to do, in the end it's your diet that matters the most. And don't ever buy the sport supplements, like protein shakes and the likes, they are only good for competitive body builders. One more thing : it's not just a training program to get you from point A to point B, you have to look at it as a complete lifestyle change, for as long as you live. You change the way you eat, you change the way you move, you change the way you sleep, you change the way you think. You have to change as a person, only when you accept that will you succeed.
@MrXdawg Жыл бұрын
@@scratchy996 Protein shakes are great as a supplement to your diet if you are struggling to eat enough on a high protein diet. That being said I can understand where you're coming from because I see so many people chugging them back expecting it to make them lose weight or get big lol. I'd recommend creatine as the only supplement beginners should consider if they want a noticeable performance/endurance boost. The rest are bunk and not needed
@scratchy996 Жыл бұрын
@@MrXdawg I don't touch any supplements. Never have, never will. Everyone I know who tried them has experienced bad side effects. But I'm lucky I live in a country where I can get real, natural food, so I would be insane to try some artificial crap. The whole "high protein intake" theory is bad for you, if you want to live a healthy life.
@MrXdawg Жыл бұрын
@@scratchy996 I dont know where you've heard that! but its really not. Its recommended to get 0.6-1g of protein per pound of bodyweight if you're excercising seriously to avoid muscle loss. This can be pretty hard to eat depending on your weight. I eat 3 whole meals a day with vegetables, good grains, and free range meat. I have 2 protein shakes a day so I dont have to eat ungodly amounts of chicken to get enough protein. I've lost 30 pounds in the last 6 months and am healthier than I've ever been. The only side effect of creatine is water retention because it causes your muscles to hold more water. It's a naturally occuring chemical that helps your muscles produce more energy during intense excercise. Supplementing it increases your natural available creatine levels by about 20-30%. its nothing nasty.
