In all seriousness though, my music program was dying when I left, I had tried to explain to the athletes and the coaches that we work just as hard as they do when we go for competitions. They just laughed and joked about it, also on top of that, the athletic programs got 70% of the program money from the school. The amount of fundraiser we had to do for repair smh
@MacyPooh1964 жыл бұрын
Our band has to fund everything including trips and competitions and uniforms. Our football team has to pay for nothing. They get new uniforms every year. If the football team qualifies for state, the entire school had to stop lessons, go outside and watch the football team and cheerleaders walk onto the bus. And it’s not like our band was terrible. Our band was great and won multiple competitions because the band director was extremely passionate as well as his kids. The school just treated them like shit.
@Moon_Child_Mari4 жыл бұрын
@@MacyPooh196 I hate how much this is a recurring issue in American high schools (because I’m not sure how it is in other countries). It’s sad how underfunded and under appreciated the arts are in high schools, and how the sports tend to have all the spotlight. No hate to the athletes, because they work hard! But artists work hard too, and deserve just as much support and funding!

I didn’t appreciate this movie until I experienced my own “stick to the status quo” moment in high school.
