Hi Bisscute, thanks for yet another beautiful and heartfelt reaction. I see that other people have already commented about how the crowd was saying “we love you“ and she was replying with “I love you“. Laura was going through a really tough time and the audience knew about it and they planned this way of telling her that she was loved by them. It’s even more touching when you get that. At one point just before she was starting to sing, someone in the audience yelled “don’t sing Lara”, basically saying that they were going to sing to her … about how they loved her. The reply she said near the beginning is something along the lines of “you caught me off guard“. Anyway, this is the most amazing audience interaction I’ve ever seen. It would’ve been amazing to be there. I’m so glad they gave that gift to her … and to everyone who gets to watch it like us. And yes, I’m not ashamed to say that every time I watch it I end up with tears in my eyes.

She was going through some frankly tragic moments in her personal life; to the extent that she was seriously considering abandoning her career, there were even days when she contemplated suicide... Her band has been with her for years, they are close knit/a family of sorts, the pianist actually set things up with the crowd during a break just before her set. She had no choice but switch labels and concentrate on the European and Latin-American markets, she is huge in the Eastern Block, Russia in particular, where she is acknowledged as a true Diva!

Her fans changed the words «Je t'aime" (I love you) to “On t’aime” which means “We love you”. More than 6000 people sang for her. Can you imagine this? Lara said that during this moment she realized the beauty of life, and that it’s really worth living it. She felt that her fans where sharing the problems she was having, and she had found the energy to overcome these problems and go on with her life.

Je T'aime (I Love You - lyrics Lara Fabian and probably her most famous song). A fan yells "don't sing, Lara!" looking bewildered she hears her fans start singing. Lara starts with "that caught me off guard!" As she starts another fan cries out "don't cry. Lara". Her fans had contacted her pianist and arranged this epic and beautiful tribute to surprise Lara during a personal crisis of losing someone close a few days before this concert. So 6000+ (some say up to 8000) joined in singing her song and when Lara sung: Je T'aime (I Love You) her fans responded: On T'aime (We Love you!). At the end of her performance and still overwhelmed she adds an additional line: “You see, I love you like that” to her adoring fans.

She was indeed hurt. She was struggling with a lot of painful personal things at the time and she was questioning herself a lot, both career-wise and just in life. She was very depressed at the time and in a lot of pain. Her fans planned this to surprise her and to tell her how much she means to them; how much she inspires them and how wonderful and special she is to them. To let her know that they love her. She sings "je t'aime", and the fans are singing to her "on t'aime", which means "we love you". She was so touched and completely overwhelmed. She has said that this night was a big reason why she realised it was worth it to keep going. It's so raw and genuine and beautiful. It makes me cry every time. Thank you for your heartfelt reaction. I love that you did not know the backstory but knew exactly what this meant to Lara anyway.

Hi Bisscute I think it’s not necessary that you understand the French words as you catch the emotion of this song. Lara was several years ago on the top of all charts and the incredible thing was the interaction with her crowd. Many others have given you some back story, but you didn't need it as you were able to read Lara's face, which says a lot about you, as a special person. Others may talk about the tuneful singing of the audience, but for me this clip says everything about Laras loving personality. Some artists would not allow them to take over her song, but Lara embraces them and not only permits, but encourages them, while she absorbs all of the love they generate. The "Nue" concert has often been called a love fest.

Not divorced, she wasn't married. These are myths. Another myth is a good friend dying, who didn't die for another 5 yrs, I'm blanking on his name, sorry. There was a break up, but not that recent, and there was everything that happened in the US when she signed with Sony and tried to break into the US market in 1999/2000. Sony was also Celine Dion's label, and her team were so threatened by Lara they made the label force Lara into more of a pop-dance singer. It wasn't what she wanted or who she was, and the deal fell apart. Her dreams of America were over. She had also fallen in love with her producer but he cheated on her and they broke up. So she returned to Canada and France broken and severely depressed, suicidal even (that's what Parce Que Tu Pars is about, suicide). The album Nue and this concert were her comeback, and the fans wanted to show her how much she was loved. The whole concert is a big love fest.

Tip/curiosity: Lara Fabian has a gem in the form of a song on the soundtrack of the animated film Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within. The song is called THE DREAM WITHIN and is one of Lara's greatest performances. I believe it's only in the film's OST, so this song is practically unknown. Hi Bisscute! Lara Fabian's first concert after the death of her beloved Gregory Lemarchal. She was deeply depressed for a whole year. But then her producer, pianist Rick Alisson, still persuaded her to perform a concert. She came out, but at first she couldn't sing. And then the whole hall stood up and sang this song ... replacing the words in it, "Je t'aime" (I love You) on "On t'aime" (We love you)... Lara was in shock and couldn't hold back her tears!.. After the concert, Alisson will approach her and say, "See...and you said that you have no need to live... live for them, for people..." GOOD LUCK!

hello dear Bisscute u are adorable ;This was in France, and I have to say that I think this crowd did GREAT at singing her song back to her! That was AMAZING! I don't know any crowds in America that would have been able to sing that well! The words Je T'aime, you already realize what that means. The crowd was singing something else to Lara, which is translated to 'We Love You'. Isn't that cool? Something like two weeks before this concert, Lara's (now Ex-)husband had been caught cheating and was leaving her. News of this got to the media and was all over the place. She was devastated, of course. So, the RUMOR is that the Pianist in this video is also Lara's stage director and some fans came to him with this suggestion. They wanted to cheer Lara up after she got dumped by the jerk. They all handed out fliers to everybody else coming into the theater that day, telling them this would happen and asking everybody to please join in singing to Lara. They just needed a signal from the pianist. Basically everybody in the building besides Lara knew about it. In a later interview, Lara said that she was about to give up music because of her breakup and divorce, she was so depressed. Lara told in newspapers that they broke because there couple was too exposed and there were too much media pressure and paparazzi around them. As for Pierre Guimard (pianist & MD) participation, this was confirmed in one reaction comment by someone who did attend this concert and told the fan base leads told them they were in agreement with him.

More information on Lara Fabian: Lara is recognized as one of the best vocalist ever seen on earth and all professionals list her in the top vocalist tier with Barbra, Whitney, Mariah, Celine, Lisa Fischer, .... In my personal opinion, she is even the best. There are a few vocal characteristics that are her signature: her famous resonance for instance that allows her to sing acapella without mic in venues with 8,000 attendees. Her nickname in the singing world is "the ring" due to this. I would also list her amazing phrasing, breath management and her pleasant tone even when belting in her upper register. So she is one of the best vocalist ever, but on top of that, she adds a few things that make her an absolute package with no equivalence: • she speaks 4 languages fluently (french, italian, english, spanish) and has sung in 12 languages in total • she is an amazing songwriter and wrote lyrics for most her songs, in the 4 languages she speaks. She often co-composes the music with the composer. • she acts and performs on stage as nobody else, she colors and reveals the meaning of every single word in the songs, and her ability to emote, to draw you in is second to none • she is the sweetest soul on earth, very humble, down to earth and benevolent. She likes to meet others, and her fans are always pleasantly surprised when this happens. A quick background on her and her career: She is belgian, but also has italian roots (her mother is from sicilia). She was raised in both countries so she speaks both french and italian as native languages. She has been classically trained on vocal, piano and songs composition for 10 years ( from 8 to 18) in the Brussels Royal Conservatory. She is still having vocal lessons and training several times a week today. She started her career in Canada in the early 90s, more precisely in Quebec, the french-speaking part of Canada. She now lives in Montreal and has also Canadian citizenship She became very famous there and then conquered France in 1997 (she topped charts there and some of her songs such as "Je t'aime" or "Tout" became classics of the french music). In 2000, she was about to penetrate the US Market, with a lot of media initial interest. Her first english song (I will love again), a pop dance song, reached number one on the US Billboard Hot Dance Club Play chart and number 32 on the Billboard Hot 100. Her Album ("Lara Fabian") was about to become a massive hit, and the concert "From Lara With Love" was recorded to be broadcasted everywhere in the US. This concert is legendary and the song Adagio you reviewed first is from this concert. But a dispute with Sony on artistry directions, and the will from Celine Dion's staff to block her progress in the US, completely broke this plan. She thus refocused back on Europe and made huge success there, extending her reach to Eastern Europe and Central Asia where she became an absolute superstar thru her collaboration with Igor Krutoy during several years. She is also a star in Brazil as her song "Love By Grace" used as the soundtrack for a very famous soap opera topped the charts for months. Many of her songs became classics and were covered by the other singing legends: Barbra Streisand, Shirley Bassey, Josh Groban, … With her success in Europe, Brazil and part of Asia, she is the inspiration of the new generation of vocalists: most of them are coming from there. Thru their covers of Lara Fabian songs, USA and many other countries are now rediscovering her. She is Dimash's idol: I’ve read somewhere that, when he was a child, he was listening her songs every night to get asleep. He covered many of her songs (that she performed originally ; she also wrote some of these). Out of my mind I can list: ○ Adagio, ○ Mademoiselle Hyde, ○ Know, ○ Love of tired swans She also wrote the lyrics of his song « Your Love ». And she covered « Love is like a dream » before him (song from Igor Krutoy originally performed by Alla Pugacheva). They also performed Ti Amo Cosi together with Aida Garafulina: this is a song that she performed originally with Dmitriy Hvorostovsky and Alina Yaroyava then again later with Dmitriy and Sumi Jo, before this new trio with Dimash and Aida. Dimash is now also working with Igor Krutoy who came back from retirement and composed severals songs for him. For me music is medicine that can cure everything, specially mentally speaking. When have to leave your home to go to work and you put your phones on with your favorite jam for example, you go to another dimension.
