I read the book Iron Man, the biography of the band written by Tony Iommi a few years before their return… I remember being moved by a passage towards the end of the book when Tony comments on, who knows, one day they would reunite and record a new album. A few years later they released 13, simply fantastic

They return to form here (like no other heavy 70's group I've ever seen) and take it a quantum step beyond by incorporating new tricks and techniques that both groups (Ozzy-solo, and Sabbath- particularly during the Heaven and Hell era) have honed individually for over two decades. Outstanding performances from each member doing what they do best. I assume that drummer is about as good as it gets. Holy shit. (And yes-I miss Bill Ward, but this dude is a monster.)

Something I've been talking to my parents about is seeing some of my favorite bands in concert, and they often say 'not right now'. So I show them live performance videos to show them that they're still good at what they do, (mostly Ozzy Osbourne, because he's basically the closest thing to a Black Sabbath show you can get since they disbanded in 2017 (Iron Man will forever echo in our hearts) and also because AC/DC isn't touring) and the first thing my mother brings up is how old they are, and my philosophy on this is who gives a shit how old they are? Ozzy could be so old that he looks like Emperor Palpatine and still sound like he does, and I'd still wanna see him live because it's better to see him when he's alive than seeing him when he's dead.
