Thank you for this tutorial. I have tried many times in the past to make an oval however I could never keep track even with markers but your method of counting back makes so much sense and easier to figure it out!

Wish there was another way of doing the increases. I don't like the way it looks with the line that makes the increases.

Make the oval just smaller than you need the head circumference

Increase for oval is you just add on ends but it goes like this row one is two single in same one the each row will get an stitch each like when you get to row 3 then it will be single single then two in next

I've got a small project for you. Use paper mache to enlarge Mrs. Foamy's head to the size of your head, and then paint her white again. Or, if you don't care what she looks like, add enough layers of duct tape along her brow to match your size. Love your videos!

I can't get the hat to start looking like a bowl. I'm making this for my 3 year old. I made the oval to the size of her head, doing the increases. I started doing sc all the way around. I'm on row 12 and it still isn't going up. I even went down a hook size. Am I doing something wrong. I'm using worsted weight by the way. Thanks

I'm doing this pattern and it's an oval with the ends turn up. But as i'm going around the rounds with individual sc in each sp it seems as though the oval is getting bigger with the ends still turned up. The sides of the hat aren't forming at all like how urs is...i'm wondering if i'm wasting my time going around and around and it's not looking like a hat at all

It wil get bigger for about 2 rows, but if it keeps doing it it may be wasting your time :( Make sure you are keeping the stiches tight :)
