definitely closer to the brim, Maybe the flower a lil smaller, and if your not satisfied just make the band not as wide. But all the other suggestions are good as well. You are just awesome either way. Your work and talent speaks volumes. You are one of the reasons i dont mind paying internet for, i sure do learn alot from you and a few other talented people in crochet land. Thank you for all your talent and patience for all us wanna be's lol. Thank you from west tx.

I love this hat but I worry that the wire may poke out after awhile. I think I would use white surgical tape (can be purchased at pharmacy) and wrap it to completely cover both ends of the wire. It is more waterproof than scotch tape, too. You can also purchase plastic tape at the hardware store (electrical tape). It stretches and comes in quite a few colors. Great hat!!

Maybe a thinner band, sitting all the way down right where the beanie meets the brim, and maybe a smaller flower to go with the smaller band? Love this tutorial! It will probably have to wait until closer to U.S. summer since I feel like I have so much winter stuff I want to do, haha, but this will definitely be on my list of things to do:).

Great vid. Thank you. I know it's 'after the fact/event' but we wore ribbons on our hats in the mid-'50's. I had several with organza ribbon-- stylish, feminine, and usually tied in large soft bow with short streamers laying on brim. Both stripe and polka dot ribbons were popular also.

Narrower band and smaller flower. Perhaps a medium blue band and a little bit darker pink flower. Love your videos. I have already made the scoodie and the hoodeanie. You have inspired me to go outside my comfort zone and try something new. Could you do a tutorial on how to add a tab front onto a brimmed beanie. Is the band done separately or is it attached to the hat. Thanks for sharing.

do you increase every OTHER row while doing the brim?
@safepethaven12 жыл бұрын
Such a pretty hat, & my favorite style:the "picture hat", similar to this hat but with a wider brim. What decade were you going for? I still have a few hats from ea. of my late g'mother [1901-86], g'aunt [1908-96, my mother [1929-76], and some from my own youth 1950's-'60's. Many vintage hats were felt, or woven/crochet of straw, or very narrow fabric/ribbon, not yarn; have a brim-band ribbon of velvet or grosgrain, to match or contrast, then tied in a knot or bow w/long 'tails' in back.

I would do that but maybe do a row or 2 of sc all the way around ... otherwise the brim may go wavy :)
@DonnaTN11 жыл бұрын
I think it's the proportions of the hat vs. band that look "off". Maybe a band that's only 5 stitches wide (instead of 9?) I'd also make the band & flower the same color, IF you use the pinks or red. But I think maybe a navy hat band with a pink or red flower would look very pretty & striking & "smashing"--- especially with a pure white hat! I'd like an even wider brim. I think the brim could have been a bit wider (by maybe 2" more?) to make it a REAL sun hat (to keep the sun off your neck

I come to this video every time I am about to make the brim of my hat and every time I kick myself because it starts coming out wavy. Now mind you I am not making a traditional wide brim hat. I have to wear a hat every day of my life when I just step outside in the sun, or lights in a store, or head lights of cars. So I got tired of my hair being covered up all the time or matted down by the typical straw wide brim hat. My hat is opened at the top and not a beanie type hat so I can wear my hair up and out of it. Going by your instructions I get very frustrated because you would figure that this pattern would work for any brim. Given what you say at the beginning of your video. I believe the problem is that is you are wanting the brim to be wider like I need the increases are just way to many and that is what makes it wavy. I don't want to add a wire to my hat because I make it stiff enough to not have to that way I can pull it down over my eyes more if needed and I can sort of roll it up a little when I don't. I have received many complements on the hat that I have created,surprisingly a lot of men have commented on my hat. I just have to remember that even though you have a great video it just doesn't work for me.
@CrochetwithClare4 жыл бұрын
G'day Toni Barnett thank you for your comment, yes like you said if it is coming out wavy, too many increases. It feels great to get compliments on something you have made doesn't it
