Traditionally, the dead, after 3 days were considered beyond ever coming back... After the 4th day someone has been dead would insure to anyone (including the religious leaders), that truly this was the power of God at work... The disciples confusion was normal... They were not yet EQUIPPED to understand or to do the will of God... In Acts, Chapter 2, after Jesus ascended to the Father, the disciples waited together (as Jesus had instructed)... The Holy Spirit filled them and now, they were FULLY equipped to do what ever God needed them to do (even unto death)... GOD IS SO GOOD!!! He chooses the weak, the simple and the uneducated, to confound the wisdom of the (so called) wise...

Completely fabricated. It never happened.
@dominicpardo47835 ай бұрын
@@mukkins555According to traditional Judaism, the soul separates from the body at the moment of death, or last breath, and continues to exist as a form of consciousness. Jewish literature also suggests that the soul remains present for some time after death, possibly until the body is fully decomposed. For example, the Talmud states that the soul is aware of everything spoken near its body, and some debate whether this is true until burial or until the body decays.

What I got from this episode. When Jesus asks Thomas to stay with Him even though it's hard and we don't understand. That hit me so hard!! Stay even when it's hard because He loves us and He will make everything we go through sacred and will consecrate our struggle! Beautiful!
@marla65824 ай бұрын
Jesus knew he could and would raise Lazarus. So he didn’t weep out of sadness that he was dead. He wept knowing that “his time had finally come.” He wept because he knew what he was about to face. And being fully human, that made him weep. Just as he prayed in the garden until he sweat drops like blood. He suffered utter agony for us and in spite of us. Jonathan played this so well!! His expression just before his tears said it all. Kudos to Dallas and the entire cast for bringing the Bible to life.
@alionessprincess4 ай бұрын
Did Jesus tell you that?? Or your only speculations and interpretation. Because I can also say that He wept because death separates us from God. It is not written and explained in the Scriptures why He wept. It just says He wept. But your explanation doesn't mean it is not actually the case that His time to suffer would come eventually, regardless. People only speculate why He wept.
@sandraohara6854 ай бұрын
I agree. I do not think that Jesus wept because of Him. I do not think HE was self absorbed that way. I do agree with alioniesprincess… sorry if I did not get your name correct. My point is… Jesus wept! Jesus loved Lazarus… Lazarus was a good man. I do not know I am just speculating but it could have been that HE had to drastically go there because the disciples weee still in unbelief. The disciples wanted a strong Messiah that would take over Rome. But Jesus did not come for that. Jesus came to teach us to be humble and to love.
@sandraohara6854 ай бұрын
And just ask Martha had Faith, Lazarus believed in Jesus 100% he knew he was talking to the Messiah. He knew he was talking to God. Lazarus loved God ! The disciples were still questioning. Do you remember Thomas when he still asked if you are, the Christ show me. And Thomas literally had to put his finger through Jesus Christ body. We need to believe God 100% we need to know that he is with us and in us! That he will not forsake us that he will walk with us into walk in confidence through the power of the Holy Spirit!

Hi Brandon! I believe your explanation at @5:43 is incorrect. Let me explain why. In those times, the large stone was at the main entrance of the tomb. After the main entrance of the tomb, there was a resting stone for the body, where the deceased would be placed for a period of one year until only the bones remained. The bones were then collected and placed in an ossuary, and the ossuary was put in the small-sized tomb, as shown in your picture.

Why is it important for individuals to consider both the negative and positive aspects of life before making decisions? Well, if we only look at one side of life it's like looking only one way before crossing a two-way street. Life has two sides just as a two-way street does, ignoring either side is not recommended. Would you cross a two-way street relying on faith or looking only one way before crossing it? If we choose to cross a two-way street without looking or looking only one-way before crossing it shows that we are willing to jeopardize not only our own life but others as well. Making life decisions based on assumptions is considered a gamble. Sometimes we may not have time to question some decisions but most of the time we do. If we refuse to question decisions especially if we have time to do so shows that we are not interested in being the best that we can be and are willing to gamble away our life or another.

Biblically, The fact that Jesus weeps in this situation brings context to human pain and suffering. When bad things happen, we often ask, "does God even care?" This simple statement, "Jesus wept," proves that He does. Even when Jesus knew He was about to make right what was wrong, He still "felt" the pain of the people He was there to serve. Responding to tragedy, we sometimes ask, "If God really cared, why not stop this happening in the first place?" The Bible tells us even our hardest moments have a purpose in God's will (Romans 8:28). At the same time, Scripture tells us God truly, deeply understands the pain we feel while we wait for that plan to be completed (2 Corinthians 5:1-5; Isaiah 53:3). Jesus is about to resurrect His good friend, bringing Lazarus back to his sisters and family. In the meantime, He weeps, sharing their pain and their sorrow.

Thank you for saying resuscitation instead of Resurrection. It only seems in Chosen circles that I've ever heard the phrase "resurrection of Lazarus" . The Resurrection comes for all the dead at Christ's second coming. Lazarus was resuscitated not resurrected because he would eventually die a second and final time. Once one is resurrected death no longer has any claim on them.

One important reason that the priests equate the rise of Jesus with Rome destroying them is that the religion of Jesus day (which had, since Ezra's time, removed all idolatry) had somehow turned the temple into an idol. They believed the temple was the only safeguard that kept Rome at bay -- it was like a good luck charm. Jesus undermined the temple -- so if people started following Jesus, the funds to maintain the temple would diminish -- and eventually the temple would fall, allowing Rome to swoop in. Ironically, the death and resurrection of Jesus made the temple obsolete -- so God allowed it to fall at the hands of Rome.
