Breath of the Wild: What if Link SURVIVED the Great Calamity?

The events of the Great Calamity in Breath of the Wild are certainly tragic, making it one of the darker Zelda games in the series alongside Twilight Princess and Majora's Mask.
It's even more heartbreaking when you wake up in the post-apocalyptic world of Hyrule, not knowing anything about your past or what happened.
Soon you meet a mysterious Old Man, who later reveals himself to be the deceased King of Hyrule. He then tells you of the story about Hyrule and how it fell to the mercy of Calamity Ganon.
You also were tasked with defeating this ancient evil, but failed in the past when trying to protect the princess. It makes you feel regret for what happened. Perhaps if you did not fall in battle 100 years ago, things would have been different.
But would they have been?
Today we look at what would have happened if Link had survived the Great Calamity and whether you would have been victorious against Ganon or were doomed to fail....
